The above is a logical fallacy. You have a problem with him, because people have turned him into a celebrity? How is that possibly his fault? Does that even make sense to you, RR? He never asked anyone to manufacture him. He gets on stage, and politely[in a humble manner]tells his audience, he is not a scholar, and he is here to provide his thoughts and observations. That's all there is to it. The fact that people like him so much, and adore him so much, is not his problem at all. He has gone on stage with many international debaters, and people simply commend him for his efforts. He has also been responsible for converting thousands to Islam. In fact, there was even a time where according to him, nearly a million people came to one of his debates in India. He is a proud Indian, and I hope that doesn't bother some Pakistanis.

If i created a product that was said to make you into the most attractive man on earth, but instead i filled it with some leprosy virus, you would rightly say it is dangerous and dishonest.
He never created any products. He gets on stage, he provides his dos pesos, and it's up to individuals to buy what he says or not. He has no malicious intentions, and he clearly one way or the other, has contributed to Islam.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

You must have got that anti-Shia bigotry from Zakir Naik too?

Do you think that thinking portrays you in a good light?

Noone knows how many people convert, or convert back. This is all part of his marketing. He's a humble man, wouldn't say anything wrong, converts people.

The reality is he plays to an agenda like all snake oil salesmen.

Has he not made fatwas from his own foundation? In that case he is not only giving opinions.

Whether he converts people or not isn't the question. Just because someone openly says "I accept Islam because you have cleared my misconception Zakir" doesn't mean it's his marketing. That is a extremely elementary way of viewing something, not to mention flawed. He says what he wants to say, and it's up to the individual whether they want to pay heed to his words.

How is this his "marketing"? You barely answered anything I previously said about your distorted views about him. He has never claimed to be a scholar, nor has he asked people to "market him". If people like him or love him, that is their problem, not his. He minds his business, goes on stage, provides his insight and goes back home. He has yet to ask anyone to follow him or to create a cult. As you can see, you seem to be creating a strawman here. If people love him, that is their choice. If people think he is a genius, that is that individuals opinion. I fail to realize how Zakir gets in the equation of all this. Everything you have said revolves around what people have said about him, and how people view him. If people view you as a crook, that is their problem, not yours. I am sure you would agree with me that just because someone thinks you are fat, it doesn't mean you are necessarily fat. Be tolerant, and watch what he says, if you want. Give him his space, if you don't like him, switch your channel to Nickelodean or NatGeo.

Dr naik hasnt said anything about shias but the way you are presenting your case is exact copy of shias.
You dont have any proof or point but just throwing words.
Before presenting ur case you must have some point some evidence otherwise u are an illeterate looser.

                I dont watch him, guaranteed.

You say he's only giving opinions. I don't think that is true. He's producing fatwas left right and centre. He's even got his own fatwa producing company.

This is why it is marketing. He has his platform: the media. People are being sold the product (Zakir) by the influential people that back him. Therefore he is just a product that people have marketed. Ask yourself this. Why could you not get the same attention as Zakir Naik from television channels etc? Because people don't want to market you is the answer.

Some people go round saying "wow, have you heard Zakir speak, he's so intelligent, he's a genius". In fact he's very ordinary, but it's the marketing of him that suggests he's a genius. The people then start repeating this like sheep.

So you haven't watched him? Your fairy-tales/assumptions make a lot more sense now.

                    Can you name his Fatwas?

Again, I think I should tell you this in Urdu, since English doesn't seem to help us in this thread. What people think of him, and if he people follow him, isn't his business nor has he requested such fame. He debates, and he sleeps. He has never asked for attention. It's the people that love and admire him for various reasons. He isn't selling anything. He is just speaking his mind, and it's totally the consumers decision to invest the time to watch his discussions.

You keep on referring to people, and I have already offered my refutation. Kindly refer to my previous posts in this thread. Please re-read them, if you can.

we're going round in circles because you're not reading what i'm saying.

I agree that people are not forced to listen to what he says. One can turn off the tv/computer. AGREED.

However that does not mean he isn't coated in sugar and sold to as many people as possible. It is a way to promulgate his ideas worldwide. I am not a believer that money should talk louder than logic or morality or common sense. Listening to what he says is fine, but some people just seem to agree with him because they feel he is some sort of saintly genius.

What he preaches may do well for Mumbai, but that is where it should stay imo.

The ideal situation is this. Each interpretation is given the same backing (none would be a good equal idea) and people pick the path that they interpret is correct. Instead of influential people backing particular ideologies.

Here's an example of his fatwa factory

point to be noted : Dr Naik explaining

why a man is allowed to have more than one wife in Islam

Fatwa Question or Essay Title: Why is a man allowed to marry more than one wife in Islam? Or why is polygamy allowed in Islam?

Fatwa Response or Body of Essay:
note the word explaining while fatwa is a DECREE EXPLAINING or explanations are NOT is trying to answer a question with a logical point of view or interpretation
while fatwa is a decree on the other hand A Body of Essay is not it might also be of agreeing or disagreeing with a decree but issuing one it can also very likely be explaining an issue or decree in a particular way not issuing the decree or fatwa but trying to present it in a way or effort of removing misconceptions regarding it or even a subject thus dr.zakir naik is explaining or trying to present a reasonable argument he is in no way giving a decree or issuing a fatwa in the very first place he is presenting a case in favour or against it but NOT at all giving a verdict
                          http://www.islamopediaonline.org/fat...one-wife-islam

& not Islamic Research Foundation, (Mumbai, India) the actual

                          Fatwa or Record URL:

Explanation of polygamy by Dr. Naik

                          Website URL:
                          Islamic Awareness

                          Fatwa Issuing Body:
                          Islamic Research Foundation, (Mumbai, India)

while this one the source you have provided typing FATWA issuing body :
the actual website does not say anything like that
here it is the the link from which the source has taken it & posted it

zakir naik is pretty good, like a deedat jr.

kinda off topic but i remember a question and answer thing with deedat and some woman asked him if he thought salman rushdie should be killed and he kept avoiding the question and told her a bunch of times to buy his book lol
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

it is from the source you provided which took the article from another website in fact the actual website does not say anything like that
here it is the the link from which the source has taken it & posted it

website name : www.islamawareness.net article Why is Polygamy allowed in Islam while the source that you provided which is http://www.islamopediaonline.org/fat...one-wife-islam says but it took the article from another websites which doea not mention's anything like eg:fatwa issuing body check it out website name : www.islamawareness.net article Why is Polygamy allowed in Islam

clearly an awareness website to present islam in a logical manner as i suspected was the case in the first place its only when i checked the link from the website you provided only then i was able to break the ice see as admin has said that dr.zakir naik does not claims to be an islamic scholar in fact he has said that he is a muslim & a student of comparative religion he does not gives fatwa because that is not in his powers in the first place i have had the pleasure to meet dr.naik in person @ a convention here in canada & he has said ample of times that he is not an scholar rather he is a student of comparative religion i my self participate regularly in community inter faith dialog for common ground & understanding & one of the essentials of the discussion are give reason or giving a person's point of view logical manner & leave it to the listener's to decide , yes one can explain about a particular fatwa but he/she does not decrees it in the first place it is strictly his/her opinion regarding a particular subject which is NOT his/her in the first place but is his/her opinion regarding it or way of explaining for or against the matter

                                thanks
