This guy is really not worth listening to. Educate yourself, use logic, and join the dots.

You'll find this guy is relatively clueless.

there is nothing wrong with listening to people's views and seeing whether you agree.

It's when people are marketed like some sort of genius, when they are just snake oil salesmen that docile people get carried away. They get caught up in the media storm around these characters and become influenced by them.

Eventually you'll learn to make your own minds up, and you'll ignore such pseudo intellects.

Everybody is worth listening too. Listening, and understanding is what helps us understand the reason why people might think different than us. This whole bandwagon of bashing the man is pathetic, and counterproductive. It's like reverse-trolling, as Wrayun would say. People should never follow someone blindly, and I think and hope that is what you meant. I personally read books that I hate, but the reason why I read them is because I want to learn the reason why people think in such a way. I read books that are against Pashtuns, and I read articles that are anti everything you can imagine. Now as far as my opinion is concerned, I personally think Zakir Naik is trying to give a positive image of Islam, and I thank him for his efforts. Do I agree with everything he says? Perhaps no. But doesn't the aforementioned apply to everyone in this world? He is a humble man, who has never claimed to be an Islamic scholar. Had he been boasting on national TV about his intelligence, members would have had a case to argue about it. Hell, even then they should decide whether they want to invest their time in him or not. What people fail to realize is all he is doing is presenting his opinion, whether you like it or not, or whether you buy it or not is completely up to the individual. I don't understand why people run around badmouthing the guy, without properly refuting anything he says. It shows me that some people just have way too much time on their hands. If he says something silly, tell us what he said and show us his flaw in his logic. I am sure he has made mistakes, he is a human. But I have yet to see someone "put him in his spot" nationally. He has been debating on TV for a decade now, and not once has one of his "evil fans" decided to pay him a visit to his show? Anyways, he is a human, he has his opinion, people pay to listen him speak, let him live. It appears to me as if he does not have any malicious intentions. All he is trying to do is spread the Islam he thinks is correct. Didn't he create peace TV? the most viewed Islamic TV channel in the UK? I mean, even that alone is a contribution to Islam, right? Be more tolerant to peoples opinions, don't chop someones head off because they haven't said what you have been hearing since you were in your diapers. The minute I see someone say they hate him and how much they dislike him, all I can do is shake my head at their level of stupidity.

            RR,
my post is not entirely directed at you.
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

He is one of the biggest pieces of marketed pseudo intellects today. We do not meet people marketed in such a big way all the time, hardly ever.

I agree with bits of this. The following blindly is a bad thing, unfortunately a lot of people do it.

What I don't like about him is the way his handlers have carefully manufactured his image, like he's some sort of genius. He's had all the platforms. Someone is pushing an agenda.

Read what he says, that would be fine. But becoming a devoted follower of him is falling for the media storm around an ordinary individual that's been made into a celebrity.

PS I don't think he's humble. He loves being in the limelight it seems.

That's his handlers, not him. Many people hate you and I. Many people love you and I. Those that hate us, and those that love us, don't represent us. Get the difference? Just because some maniac swears he is the worlds most intelligent person doesn't mean it's true. Zakir Naik has remained humble in almost all his speeches(if not all) and he has consistently told the public he is not an Islamic scholar, and that he just wishes to try his best to present Islam. Would you at least commend him for his efforts, RR? Isn't the attempt and success alone commendable? He has at the end of the day, contributed more to Islam than anyone in this board. He has cleared misconceptions for thousands of non-Muslims, and in result, they have embraced Islam. But again, we shouldn't even use that as a criteria to judge him. He doesn't seem to have malicious intentions, and I am sure you agree with me on that.

no one chained you to your chair and glued your eyelids open to force you to listen to him.
if you have reached that conclusion about him based on something you realize and understand due to your own knowledge and understanding of things then bravo to you. sucks to be someone who hasn't. because no matter how much you tell them otherwise, they will not understand unless they are where you are intellectually and if they are not and you keep telling them that they are wrong and you are right then you are no better than this pseudo intellect thing that you speak of because instead of bringing them to that level of understanding, you are forcing them in to believing something you believe in just because you say it's right.

Dr Zakir naik's contribution in clearing missconceptions about islam in this fast age of time when all the media is in war against islam is not hidden from anyone. let me remind you he is the only guy who is doing such a great job for islam and muslims. No other scholar has the courage to face the media specially the western and indian media. He is the only guy in this respect.
Objecting and throwing words on others is very easy but entering the battle field and facing the situation is very hard.
After Ahmed Deedat he is the champion of giving tongue and confidence and knowledge to the muslims to talk to non muslims and dont feel shy and defend your islam.

My problem with him is that he has been manufactured into this cult celebrity. He's been marketed to sell his product.

If i created a product that was said to make you into the most attractive man on earth, but instead i filled it with some leprosy virus, you would rightly say it is dangerous and dishonest.

That careful marketing has sold you the product, and turned you into a lepper through trickery.

I have read some of his work, and it could easily be discredited imo. Some of his work does not clear up misconceptions as it should do.

I think a lot of his arguments are weak. I suspect people don't listen to him even in quite a few cases. They just nod their head because he says something, and because of the way he's been marketed. Hero worship and he knows this.
