You must have a certain concept of "true" religion ,as every other claimer has, and you need to explain that, however the bitter truth is none of the nation which is following whatever version [true or untrue ] is leading neither a respectable nor a useful life according to objective benchmarks of respect and usefulness e.g indicators of development and progress.
Having said that my question was what is the need of religion? What will be the repercussions of either its non existence or its refutation.Last edited by pir_Rokhan; 05-11-2010, 07:10 PM.

Its not important what other religions stand for. Islam is the only true religion. And there is no doubt about it.Originally posted by pir_Rokhan View PostYou must have a certain concept of "true" religion ,as every other claimer has, and you need to explain that, however the bitter truth is none of the nation which is following whatever version [true or untrue ] is leading neither a respectable nor a useful life according to objective benchmarks respect and usefulness like indicators of development and progress.

This is what they all say about theirs without even first answering the question that is there a need for a religion whether right or wrong at all.Originally posted by Sangar View PostIts not important what other religions stand for. Islam is the only true religion. And there is no doubt about it.
May I put it in more simpler words,"without understanding the question of rationale for the justification of religion".

Whether there is a need for religion or not, you are not compelled to follow religion. Is this enough, have I answered your question?Islam will prevail, a promise made by the Creator of this universe:
[61:8] They desire to extinguish the light of Allah with the breath of their mouths, but Allah will perfect His light, even if the disbelievers hate it.
[61:9] He it is Who has sent His Messenger with the guidance and the Religion of truth, that He may cause it to prevail over all religions, even if those who associate partners with God hate it.

In the modern society their is no need for religion.
Religion has evolved thus:
1 Early societies had no rational explanations for certain natural phenomena. Thus they came up with certain myths and cults to explain them.
2 The real bedrock of religions has been the amalgam of these mythologies and the Greek Philosophy. The Roman conquest of the religiously fertile Judae can be assumed to tbe the source of all religious theology and ghorzang.
3 The real value and benefit of religion has been to those classes that have ruled the masses either as Masters (Master-Slave), Feudals (Fuedal-Serf) and the capitalists (Capitalist-Worker). Many aspects of religion such as determinism and fatalism benefit the ruling classes. An example: I tried to impress upon a Tablighi friend of mine to work for the betterment of the Pashtun people and secure our resources for the Pashtun masses. He would have none of it. His reply: Our goal is the next life, we have nothing to do with this life. Another example: There is a saying is almost all religions: "Be Thankful to the lord for whatever he has granted you. Be content with it. Do no be ungrateful'. Needless to say this has taken out the will for a progressive and revolutionary change from the masses.
4 What is the positive value of Religion in these times? 0. I see a point in the 'pragmatism' of William James. I could ignore the obvious obsoletness of religion and religious discourse if there could be any potenial of a positive social, economic or political change in religion. Furthermore, In the matrix of the essentials of the Pashtun future, religion has no 'value' or 'benefit' which would grant it worthy of following.
5 Major questions regarding many things have been answered since the days of Rene Descartes and the age of rational thought. There is nothing left for religion to offer. (This point I have further elaborated in the thread, Does God Exist?)

Certain religions see progressive and enlightened ghorzangs or 'current of thoughts' as dangerous and a threat. Rightly so. We saw what Messrs Spinoza, Nietzche, Marx and others capable of rational thought and scientific knowledge did to Christianity in Europe. Hence Christianity has transferred its manpower to the less 'knowing' masses of Africa and Asia.

Dear Nadir Shah,
Modern society is a dog eat dog world. In the modern society their is no need for religion.
Can you give a few examples?1 Early societies had no rational explanations for certain natural phenomena. Thus they came up with certain myths and cults to explain them.
Can you pinpoint this view of yours from the Holy Quran?2 The real bedrock of religions has been the amalgam of these mythologies and the Greek Philosophy. The Roman conquest of the religiously fertile Judae can be assumed to tbe the source of all religious theology and ghorzang.
This is not an honest reflection of religion. Period.3 The real value and benefit of religion has been to those classes that have ruled the masses either as Masters (Master-Slave), Feudals (Fuedal-Serf) and the capitalists (Capitalist-Worker). Well, I am pretty sure religion has need to recruit you. Win-win situation.4 What is the positive value of Religion in these times? 0. I see a point in the 'pragmatism' of William James. The irony of this statement is that Rene Descartes believed in God.5 Major questions regarding many things have been answered since the days of Rene Descartes and the age of rational thought. Nonetheless, it still leaves tremendous gaps and holes in your logic. Rene Descartes contributed to rational thought, yet he was still a believer. Might want to reconsider or give proofs to back up your conclusions.Islam will prevail, a promise made by the Creator of this universe:
