I am not a scholar but Hijab is a basic aspect of our religion. I believe a girl has to wear hijab and it is NOT okey for a Husband to order her not to wear it.
I am not a scholar but Hijab is a basic aspect of our religion. I believe a girl has to wear hijab and it is NOT okey for a Husband to order her not to wear it.
So every Muslim girl is obligated to wear one?
if a husband doesnt like it, then what happens?
I know your not a scholar, but still. :?
If the girl wants to wear the hijab, she should wear it, and her husband has *no right* to tell her not to. Similarly, if she doesn't want to wear the hijab and her husband is forcing her to wear it, he STILL has no right to make her wear it.
Now, if he's very much convinced that the hijab is better for a female and he tries to explain to her why (and no force is involved), then that's different. But he should still try to understand her side of the argument, too.
We need to get out of this mentality that husbands are our gods :| 'cause they're not. The Quran constantly talks about obedience without specifying to WHOM, and it's often translated and interpreted as "obedience to husband" when it can actually mean obedience to God. So, Muslim women are fooled into believing that they MUST obey their husbands -- or else. If there's mutual respect and honor for each other, there won't be any need to "obey" either: both will respect each other enough so that both listen to each other and take care of each other.
Anyway, if you want, we can talk on this whole idea of obedience towards husbands in another thread -- or here, doesn't matter -- to clear up one of the many misconceptions about Islam and Muslim women.
^ haha, don't worry, I don't think dukemina is so easily angered.
