My muslim brothers and sisters, I am a young muslim born in the West. My parents belonged to Bangla Desh. I want to know about my muslim faith and history. I have read some Muslim history. The character that fascinates me is Khalid Ibn Walid. But when I read more about him, I find him controversial. He is said to have killed another Muslim and married his wife on the same day when the deceased was killed. Below is a debate about him between Shias and Sunnis.

Even if we accept that he killed Malik Ibni Nuwayrah by mistake, it cannot be justified that he married the wife of the deceased within 24 hours both Islamically and from moral point of view. In Islam, one cannot marry a woman before 3 months of the death of her previous husband. Besides, how can one sleep with a woman whose husband and family have been killed just hours before? She must have gone through devastation and deserved some time to regain mental peace.
I hope that brothers and sisters explain this in a satisfiable way.
