  • A Pashtun can be a Pakistani?

The opinion of magority of members here is that a pashtun can not be a pakistani. If he calls himself pakistani then he is sell out punjabized and according to sholambay he should be beheaded with khushal khattak's sword :D
Few member thinks that working as governament servant of pakistan will disqualify you as pashtun.

Loyalty to afghanistan (+love for india) and hate for pakistan make you a high quality ghairatmand and drun pashtun.

Im not pro paki but in answer to the question can a pashtun be a paki the answer is yes....
      1 what is a paki?
a paki is a national of the country of pakistan... if u hold a paki passport u are a paki...
a pashtun can also be an american if he/she holds a USA passport....
in short its about nationality not racial affliations
a national of a country can also be against that country for example the basque leaders are by nationaity french/spanish yet they hate said countries

Ajmal Khattak was a Pakistani till the vary last breath. He was a member of the Pakistani Parliment carried a Pakistani Passport and Identity Card. Proven !!

Now the question is whether he was a Pakhtun or not? And the answer is very simple He was a Nar-Pakhtun That answers your question Luffy

Lolzz Ajmal Khattak. The man was anti Pakistani for most of his life until the 90s. He stayed nationalist till the end, though his role in the Musharraf government was very questionable. Shehbaz you will play very loose with history.

Like Dreamer said Pakistan is a state and as of now a Pashtun is technically a pakistnai by citizenship, like a Palestinian is an Israeli or say a Kashmiri an Indian, etc.

            Pakhtun or Pakistani?

Pakhtun is pakhtun but if he belongs to the political boundary of Pakistan, he is a Pakistani too. If a punjabi is Pakistani, a sindhi is Pakistani, then why a pakhtun should give up his rights to be a Pakistani?
To be pakhton is our root. To be Pakistani, is our claim of citizenship rights of Pakistan. Let us be sensible and smart, not to abandon Pakistan to Panjabis, sindhis or to Altaf bhai. We already have done such blunders by handing over whole India to Hindus through inventing a cowardly and foolish 'two nation theory'. The fact is we Pakhtuns ruled India for nearly 900 years then suddenly we were fooled by brain washing us, and defaming Bacha Khan calling him Sarhadi Ghanhi, and that we could not live with Hindus. Now you want to give up the land of Pakistan to punjabis and etcs. Shame on you.

BLS Wrora If you are a Pakhtun Nationalist that doesn't mean that you are not a Pakistani? This is something you are misunderstanding .. Like if I agree with your idea than All the ANPiers and all the people belonging to Achakzai sahib's party are anti-Pakistani? NO they are nationalists but not against Pakistan.. Ajmal Khattak strive throughout his life for Loy-Afghanistan but in the end I guess he realized the fact that this idea of Loy Afghanistan is not practical.

Dervaish you made some sense until you ended with some trivial nonsense. We are not abandoning our land, we are getting out of a state that some see as not in our interests. We ruled portions of India for 900 years but now the anglos, and their step-children (sitting in Islamabad) run our affairs. You can sit here and quote abstract history but it doesn't change the reality. About sarhadi gandhi will this was a name given to him by others....this is nothing to be ashamed of. Gandhi is probably one of the greatest political leaders in history...nelson mandela and Martin Luther King jnr (in fact majority of the modern day political movements) model themselves on Gandhi. What giving up? They are the majority and we have our land, we strive for our unity they can live theirs across attock.

@Shehbaz...I don't know if he considered Loy Afghanistan realistic or fake, all I do know is that he was anti-pakistani till the 90s...after that he switched his stance a lot. He is dead so I won't say anything else after this...his literary achievements were many.

A pashtoon can be anything he wants to be. there is no force in this matter. if a pashtoon wants to be a patriotic indian, or pakistani or patriotic any other nationality that is his choice but if this patriotism is going to make him work against the interest of his fellow pashtoons, well he is still a pashtoon but will not be a praisworthy one. u can't have your cake and eat it too. if a pashtoon wants to be a patriotic Pakistani good for him but he shouldn't expect others to praise him for this. Currently pakistan openly works against Pashtoons and any pashtoon who is patriotic pakistani should be ready to take the label of "sell out."

but one thing is clear... if a person can't be loyal to his own roots, to his own people and to his own background.. he can never be loyal to any other country. its just a matter of time before he switches his loyalty to some other land, some other ethnicity. kam zarf insaan can never find zarfiat no matter what he calls himself

^^this was from a protest (actually two, one in london and the other in Toronto)....they basically were protesting against ISI and army. Ironically this protest was held by nationaliyaan (who Shehbaz says are the main cause of all the bloodshed).
