  • A country for Pashtuns

Why are almost all Afghan Pashtuns loyal to Tajik dominated Afghanistan but against Punjabi dominated Pakistan? Why can't BOTH sides agree that we need our OWN separate state? We need to break the chains of the past and create a new Pashtun nation. A country by us and for us that exists to preserve our unique identity. Why is the suggestion of this so unwelcomed by Afghan Pashtuns?

Perfectly put -Dera Manana Feroz Lala.

Zonga adukee maat dee, khalqo. Our bones are fractured and broken. We need to heal the divisions within - then whatever the political set up, our bodies will be strong.

I too dream of a Pashtoon powerbase, but let's start by slowly healing and building bridges, through trust, collective spirit and love amongst ourselves.

          Dear Freedom Fighter wrora,

Let me make this very clear to you,
anyone who is an Afghan, who has ever lived in Afghanistan, and those who are well-wishers of Afghanistan are members of my immediate family and I would die for them right now, as I would for my country.

And anyone who insults my country insults me, and an insult to me
isn't something you'll get away with.

Now, with that being said, I'll have you know that last year, I took 6 months off from college to travel through Afghanistan.

I went to Kabul, Kunar, Bamyan, Mazar, Jalabad, Sheberghan and Badakhshan. I saw no Pashtun or Tajik, Hazara or Uzbek, all I saw were poor and desperate people, trying to forget the many years they have suffered at the hands of foreign powers.

When I went to "Tajik dominated" areas, as you called them, I was greated as they would great a fellow "Tajik" and when I went to Jalabad and Kunar, people couldn't care less about who's a Tajik and who's Pashtun. All Afghan. End of story.

I hope that answers your earlier question.

Now the answer to your current question, its not about Tajiks and Panjabis, its about which one supports and loves Afghanistan.

Tajiks (as you call them) are citizens of Afghanistan, they are 100% Afghan as any Pashtun, same with Hazara and Uzbek, and therefore, they naturally defend Afghanistan, so I see them as family and fellow countrymen and love them.

Panjabis are citizens of India and Pakistan. I have nothing against any country or race, but as I said before, an insult to my country is not taken lightly. Panjabis who want a prosperous Afghanistan get my support and undying gratitude as much as any "Tajik" or anyone for that matter would .

People who love Afghanistan = my family.
People who don't = should be crushed under tanks.

I hope this answers your question and don't take it personally.

Freedom Fighter a few things. Tajiks don't really dominate the government in Afghanistan, never really have and won't (rather can't in the present future). What has happened in Afghanistan is that the Pashtun areas are warzones and in comparison to the North have little to no peace. In these cases, you will see a more developed North and a south which is being neglected. Add to that, that Tajiks don't blow up their own schools, or have an issue of militancy like Pashtunkhwa or Afghanistan does.

Pakistan is a different case entirely as it is a state with an army, a bureacracy and intelligence that has set up a policy that is against Pashtuns. It isn't about Panjabis hating Pashtuns and Tajiks showering un matched love. It is basically an issue of interests. In the case of Pakistan, the state is fundamentally stacked against us. In Afghanistan, political rivalries can be sidelined with more sovereignty and peace. However, to make that comparison that tajiks (who mind you are barely 25%) of the country rule Pashtuns isn't true. Rather the collapse of Afghanistan as a state, constant wars, etc have relegated Pashtuns to the back of the line.

Now it is also important for Pashtuns in Afghanistan to recognize it is a little hard for Pashtunkhwa Pashtuns to feel that affinity with tajiks, uzbeks, etc since we share little with them. Having said that, it is of no interest to Pashtuns to split away the northern areas...so in terms of interests it makes sense. And since we accept hindkiyaan, kohistanis, chitraalis into the community we can put a similar stance to the others.

We can have our own state Loy Afghanistan, with an intact north purely out of strategic necessities....and you can enforce your language and culture by virtue of being a majority. However, we have to at the same time respect minorities and their respective languages.

            P.S. I am from Pashtunkhwa.

So what will be done of kohistanis, nuristanis, chitralis, hindkis, DIK, etc? Where do you start this where do you end it? What you are after is not possible, so why not go for the best thing?
