Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: holders of bachelors degrees: 5%

Afghanistan: enrollment in secondary schools: 14%

Balochistan: number of college graduates: 8%

There, you have your answer. The Pashtun masses are not ready for free thought. They are ripe for the mullah.

          As opposed to:

Sweden: Roughly 76% of the population goes to college. No Mullahs there. Thank God for that.
"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be".

"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives".

Sometime it feels like we are blaming Mullas/religion for all our short comings and flaws.

What literacy percentage did Pashtuns have when women used to wear mini skirts in Kabul and xxx movies were run round the clock in Peshawer?

Besides religion there are numerous factors related to our culture and traditions that have played vital role in our backwardness and current failed state yet we seem not to acknowledge them or deliberately give em a cold shoulder coz we already have an escape goat Mulla/Islam.

^Why do peolpe think that criticising mullah is synonym to criticising the religion? It is not! Our problem is indeed haram khwara ignorant stupid mullahs.

By the way, Sangara can you give us an example of kafir Pashutn. I have never come across one. If you consider the secular Pashtuns kafirs.

(How dare you called me a kafir?)

Wrora, Its not Islams fault. Its Religion teaches us ways to progress. Look at Iran, Majority of the incoming college students are females.
sangar wror considers iran is a kafir state as well. Iran is trying to distance itself from arabs as afar as it can, iran is an isolated state, but still the most organized militarily, but we are licking arab butts, blindly follow them, for our children the modern eduaction is haram. the good example is sangar wror if we speak with a logic, we are consdered as kafir.

                  A word of advice, ComradePashtun:

Don't take it as an insult to be called "kuffar" or "kaafir" by Sangar. Believe me, it should be an honor coming from him! The only "Muslim" people to him are those who are just like him, and I'm sure I don't need to give any description of that. So rest assured: There's NOTHING wrong with being labled a kaafir, infidel, munafiq, and everything else that's bad if it's coming from Sangar or anyone like him. I used to get all the time, too, but I got over it -- and I'm sure I still get it, but I'm totally cool with it.

Why is it not possible to have our religious establishments separate from our political establishments? It seems to be working fine in some parts of the world. In fact, those parts of the world are actually developed.

Europe experienced religion meddling in politics for a long time and it had enough, and ever since separating the two, it has progressed. The people are no longer answerable to the Pope. As such, when the Taliban were running Afghanistan the people were obeying the Taliban for fear of not being abused. Sometimes people were being forced to pray the same pray a second time just to please a Talib who doubted if the prayer was even performed the first time. There was no difference between the Taliban era Shariah ruling and Europe before the Renaissance.

The only way to give the masses a taste of freedom and peace is to liberate their minds from man ruling his conscience. Today, politics can easily control masses who are religious. This is very dangerous. It breeds suspicion.People would all be afraid of being "labeled." In turn, it would limit the progress a government can make for it will not hear real concerns. The concerns that would be voices would be with respect to what would keep the masses attached to the "religious government." However, a proper form for progression would be to allow people to voice their opinions and sentiments so that the rulers of the land could properly understand the needs of the people.

If the government was being run by religious institutions then there leaves no room for dialogue. The reason being is that the conscience is being controlled. It is not allowed to think for itself.

im not a believer of Islam

but if I ran Afghanistan, I would establish it as an Islamic Emirate, bring in Shariah Law, establish a clerical body etc

its what the country needs. i would grow a beard, wear a turban, recite some suras and reference hadiths, and grow and develop the nation while paying lip service to the ulama

But then you would simply be continuing the trend of non-development. It is very easy to run a system based on the whims of the clerics, but it takes a real person to stand against them, what may come.

What has the Clerics and Mullahs done for Afghanistan besides making militias and killing eachother for rule of parts of the country?

Its a well and known fact that Pakistan has and still does support Taliban in Afghanistan.

Afghan Taliban have never everrrr openly declared war on Paksitan, Without Pakistan Army with its logistic routes etc Afghan Taliban will never surivive and neither will ALLAH protect them just as he never protected them with the carpet bombs hit their bases and they got booted out of government in less than two weeks by 2 percent of the American Army might.

                            Kind Regards

What people don't realize is that they are being subtly subjugated by the West by using Islam as a means to the end. Afghanistan has always been in the way in the region, so you either get Afghanistan on your side or your control it.

To get Afghanistan on your side you would have to speak the same language, i.e. Islam.
To control Afghanistan you would need to instill an Islamic puppet government.

Therefore, Afghan people have to realize that Islam is being used as a means to the ends of those who have interests in the region.

There are two options: Either separate the church from state or allow to be taken advantage of by means of a puppet government.

Afghan cannot allow religion to meddle in the politics of the day. Otherwise, they will be coerced with threat of Hell in order to get the masses to agree on an issue.
