Russia, Pakistan Should Fight In Afghanistan: Trump | TOLOnews

“So you take a look at other countries—Pakistan is there. They should be fighting. But Russia should be fighting. The reason Russia was in Afghanistan was because terrorists were going into Russia. They were right to be there. The problem is it was a tough fight,” Trump said.
Trump seemed to misstate the former Soviet Union's involvement in Afghanistan that "Russia used to be the Soviet Union. Afghanistan made it Russia because they went bankrupt fighting in Afghanistan," Trump said. "The reason Russia was in Afghanistan was because terrorists were going into Russia. They were right to be there."
Anyone who is pro Trump because of his isolationist rhetoric or talk of withdrawing troops from the country needs to realize this man is a mentally ill moron and has zero grasp of reality or history.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

The dude is a total moron, but he can still get some things right. Pulling out of Syria/Afghanistan and the trade war with China are both good things IMO.

But wow that quoted bit makes zero sense LOL. I know Trump rambles and says incoherent nonsense a lot, but what was his point? Did he even have one?

      WHat the hell?

Afghan terrorists in Soviet Russia in 20th century? How do someone come up with that?

Is the only reason of him being president becaue the border and him being a little anti-latino? If what was posted is really written by Trump, then i start to think that's the only reason.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

The problem with Trump is that he is a complete idiot and he has zero impulse control. This is fine if he is the manager of a McDonalds but since he is the worlds most powerful leader, it’s a problem. Despite what we think of past US presidents and poor policies, they were at least intelligent. If this guy had no checks or balances, he would be dropping nuclear bombs.

Bro, you are missing the point. By rambling about all this, Trump is saying he does not give a crap about the US wars.

I prefer that over any other MIC sponsored establishment persona like Obama,Bush, or a Clinton

Not giving a crap isn’t the same as not continuing these wars or escalating/starting others. He is halfway into his term and so far has carried on the wars he inherited and actually intensified the Afg war. The guy makes international policy while probably drunk on twitter in the middle of the night. This is the point.

What’s more important is that he does not honor agreements, international norms, common sense and etc.

Who is to say if Khalilzad and the Talibs come to terms shake hands hug and take photos that Trump won’t just torpedo it because he is an idiot.

Trumps orders of US withdrawals from Syria and Afghanistan have been met with opposition from Republicans and Democrats as well as US generals. Mattis's resignation was due to his opposition to those two decisions. That shows how seriously the Military Industry Complex takes him.

There was a recent interview Trump did with regards to Afghanistan. He said he gave Mattis a year with all the available funding and resources to "win" the war. He goes on and says the US couldn't do it. So this is no impulsive decision of Trump. It has been years in the making since he took power.

In the last couple days his administration has done a complete U turn on his Syria withdrawal comments...

He makes comments, sobers up and has an intervention from his handlers and contradicts his initial comments. This has been his story for 2 years now.

2 weeks ago he said he would be proud to own a govt shutdown, now it’s the Democrats fault. These are the lies and contradictions he presents in front of the American people, imagine the lies, backtracking, and bull**** he is willing to present foreigners.

Does anyone actually think Trump is competent here? Hopefully not.

But the important thing to us is not his incompetence, but rather whether or not he'll do what Bush, Obama, or any of the 2016 candidates (aside from maybe Bernie Sanders) would be willing to do, which is draw back the US' military presence in Muslim countries.

Will he do it? I think it's a done deal at this point. His administration can play down his previous statements and try to change his mind as much as they want, but Trump has actually been pretty adamant about "fulfilling" a few of his campaign promises, and the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan has been rumored for a few months now. I don't know as much about the Syria situation as I have not followed it, but the rumors coming from Trump's administration have generally been pretty reliable. So it's likely that he's been planning the Afghanistan withdrawal for a while now. Perhaps the announcement came on a whim (at a bad timing because it took away any remaining leverage from the US/Afghan government's side), but this was definitely something he would've done at some point or another before the 2020 elections.

He only cares what his base thinks and his base doesn't care about the back peddling. He is pretty popular in the republican party voters so he is careful when taking on the MIC since that is where most the republican establishment support stems from.

Politicians aren't historians. Many politicians don't really know what is going in the world or how we got here. They are just mostly good at lying and feeding BS to the people. The ones that runt eh departments are different people that are appointed. Trump is no politician, he is a business man so knowing nothing about history or what is going on in the World should be expected.

But his point is valid. Why is the US involved in Afghanistan when the US has no real interests there. Why are American Tax dollars being used for Russia's interest. The Soviet Union did break up because it went bankrupt from its war in Afghanistan and other foolish spending and he is telling the American people not to fall in the same trap.

At this point, his decision still stands.

Trump is stubbornly sticking to all his campaign pledges whether it regards the wall, ending the wars, or his trade war with China.

Sure he says stupid stuff, but the media pushes a perception of him as crazy and impulsive in order to discredit his policy decisions especially regarding foreign policy and MIC wars. People don't realize that Trump has a close relationship with Sen. Rand Paul, a known non-interventionist (they golf together a lot)

I don't like most of his policies, but ending the wars is a priority.
