We are exaggerating its importance, for two reasons:

    1. We're looking at it from an Afghan perspective. To us, it IS important. Afghanistan is a landlocked country, and our other two neighbors are not good, consistent partners. Afghanistan's biggest and best chance at increased prosperity is through increased trade and cooperation with the Central Asian states, as Pakistan is antagonistic and insane, and Iran is constantly a victim of international sanctions (not to mention being bipolar in its treatment of Afghanistan).
    2. The narrative of Central Asia being a major beneficiary of the fictional "silk road." A lot of people, including the current Chinese government, think reviving Central Asia's imaginary role as a major trading route between China and Europe will bring prosperity to the entire region.

I don't think the US created a puppet regime in Afghanistan to keep Pakistan in line. I think they did it because they saw Afghanistan as one of the key focal points of Islamic Jihadi and revivalist movements, and see a victory in Afghanistan as a victory against all those groups.
But why create a gov that is in conflict with paki. Why not create a paki friendly gov who wont harbor revivalist movements because that would solve the problem of Paki not harboring the Taliban or any insurgent movement that would threaten Kabul. Not only will it solve that problem, but paki would open up the border to trade which Karzai and Ghani has been wanting since the beginning. Paki is just reacting to Kabul's unfriendly stance and the unfriendly stance is designed by its creator and funder. All you have to do is watch Afghan media, its all about Pakistan and any Afghan with very little education knows that the destruction of Afghanistan stems from this unfriendly stance towards Pakistan ie pashtunistan policy that even Daud at the end realized was destructive and wanted to end it and was ready to sign trade agreements with Pakistan and Saudi which made the Soviets react by killing him. This all fits in with the theory of realism in international relations where cooperation between neighbors is agaisnt the interests of hegemonic powers ie US now and USSR back then.

Pakistan and Afghanistan were cooperating for the first time under the Taliban who also threatened central Asian dictators. Central Asian dictators would have fallen way before the Saudis or any Arab dictator. If you read what was happening in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan at the time, they were on the brink. Uzbekistan killed thousands of protesters because the dictator felt so threatened while Tajikistan's capital was on the brink of collapse. When Dostom broke Taliban lines in 2001, many of his fighters were from Uzbekistan's army.

Maulana Samiul Haq assassinated at Rawalpindi residence

So.. Mawlana Samiul Haq has been stabbed to death. Stabbed to death. Such important figure had no bodyguards? How could the murderers get so near to him? Hmm, fishy.

Is he really an important figure though?

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Symbolic figure. Also keep in mind that Mawlavi was IK´s ally. So his death must be somehow related to regional politics and not to Pakistan domestic politics.

All these attacks might not be related.. but I find them very fishy. Iconic and key figures on both sides of the border are getting killed few weeks after secret meetings between the USA and the Taliban were disclosed. It makes me think..

AP Interview: Karzai welcomes Gitmo 5 into peace discussion

“We will in an extremely forceful way oppose any deals between the U.S. and Pakistan on Afghanistan and Afghan destiny,” said Karzai adding that peace negotiations also need to involve regional powers, most notably Russia and China as well as neighbors including Iran

Karzai fears some sort of secret agreement or pact between the USA, Taliban and Pakistan.

I’ve heard this in many gatherings. Someone even mentioned Dostum, and other warlords like Atta Mohammad Noor might be next. Raziq didn’t listen to Ghani, nor did Atta Noor.

                  NDS operation or ISIS?
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

Does the NDS really have the ability to carry out an attack in Pindi?

I assume it’s some local or personal thing. Mawlana Samiul Haq is old and his influence on the Taliban was always exaggerated, but it’s probably gone down to zero in recent years. There’s not much reason to kill him now from an Afghan perspective.

It could be domestic. Some say he was going to give a statement condemning the protests over blasphemy. Why did the bodyguard and driver disappear leaving him alone? It seems like an inside job by his own. The lawyer defending the woman in the blasphemy case has fled the country fearing for his life.
Years back that Panjabi Governor Taseer was killed over blasphemy law by his own bodyguard as well.

This just tells us, its still too early to mess with the blasphemy law in Paki. The Pakis have to start making those pro homo femenistic cuckold movies to soften the people Bollywood/Hollywood style before messing with the blasphemy law. India just legalized homosexuality after years of making Bollywood movies normalizing homosexuality.

They were airlifted and saved from destruction by NDS.
Also look at their interviews, they walk around freely in NDS guest houses. Also take a look at the interrogation of one of them by talban. He clearly says that their handler was Muslimyar.

Pakistan is not stupid, they would not just give up a formerly high profile person like that for no reason, the same way he wasn’t arrested for no reason initially.
Actually his comrads wanted to meet him straight away but he told them to not contact him.

There are private militias funded by the CIA, NDS, ISI running around in the country who fly the white flag or ISIS flag which is why we get reports of Taliban clashing with ISIS or Taliban clashing with Taliban or ISIS Clashing with ISIS like these:

I am pretty sure the NDS is not handling those Daesh who attack Shias and government targets. Not everything is as it seems in Afghanistan but not every conspiracy theory is true either.

Plus, anyone will say what they want a captor to hear under interrogation/torture.

I heard about stuff like this too. A few years back (before ISIS became a big deal) they’d say they were Taliban, but it was the same story. They’d commit crimes, American helicopters would come and they’d disappear without taking any losses or fighting.
