The Quran says the almighty sent prophets to all over the world though. How else you gonna explain him sending a dude only to a people living in the desert of Arabia, but not in say Mexico or Australia.Originally posted by کیش View PostThere is no Barakah in celebrating a cultural holiday that was never uttered by the Nabi of the Almighty Allah.

There is Barakah ....anything that brings genuine happiness and joy in people's hearts and reminds people of the wonders of nature....always brings barakah.Originally posted by کیش View PostThere is no Barakah in celebrating a cultural holiday that was never uttered by the Nabi of the Almighty Allah.
“I said to Jabir bin Samurah: ‘Did you used to sit with the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W)?” He said: ‘Yes.’ When the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) had prayed fajr, he would sit in the place where he had prayed until the sun rose, and his companions would talk and remember things from the time of Jahilliyah and recite poetry, and they would laugh and he would smile.'” (Sunan an-Nasa’i)
Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

In Armenian traditional way we have same thing as chaharshanbe suri on several festivals, the most famous being Trndez ( read Te're'ndez - the short sound e' exists in Pashto too, but don't know how to write it in english). Trndez is in February, but also on Amanor (new year) fires are made.
During Trndez jumping over the fire is the main reason. In older times it people even walked on the still hot coals.
Even almost all Christians celebrate it today.
The festival is related to increasing your justice through overcoming your inner fears.

If Zoroaster was a Prophet or not it doesn't matter. He can't even hold the feet of Mohammed (peace and blessings to him). You could even add Adam, Noah, Abraham Moses and Jesus (peace be to all of them), and put them together, and their ranking are no way near the level of Al-Wasila (peace be to him)
You modern muslims have become embarassing. St. Patricks day brings smile and joy. So by your logic, the Prophet (peace be to him) never said its batil so go on ahead and celebrate it

What's embarassing is people making battlegrounds over ultimately trivial and vacant issues. These are the types of Muslim that mumbles "SubhanAllah, what's wrong with Muslims today? They're using forks and spoons rather than eating with their hands" And walk around wearing pants hiked up because they think pant seams around their ankles is "kufr" or something.Originally posted by کیش View PostIf Zoroaster was a Prophet or not it doesn't matter. Comparing St. Patrick's to Nawruz is false equivalence; people are doing blatantly immoral things i.e. drinking to commemorate them. What's harram about eating fruit, giving gifts or celebrating nature? Nawruz is a wholesome holiday.
What's next, you're going to tell us that music is worse than zina as I've read on some of those Wahhabi/Salafi "Fatwa" sites?
Let's get a grip now. They sound ridiculous and they don't even realize it.

Defending the teachings of Rasul Allah (peace be upon him) sounds ridiculous to you Mahmoud. Get a grip broski. He (peace be upon him) can be your intercessor in Qiyamah, but you choose culture over the sunnah. So good luck to you, or you'll be doing thisOriginally posted by Iblis_Efreetzai View PostWhat's embarassing is people making battlegrounds over ultimately trivial and vacant issues. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "There are three whom Allaah will not look at or praise on the Day of Judgement and theirs will be a painful punishment: the one who wears his garment below his ankles, the one who reminds others of his favours, and the one who sells his product by means of making false oaths"*

Mahmoud, i was going to respond to this, but you already know what i was going to say.

no put music is haram. But not close to the inlawful acts of Zina.

Thanks for proving my point; it seems that a large contingent of this Anti-Nawruz camp comes from the same warped view of reality where how long your pant legs are leads you to hell.
Nevermind the other ahadith which actually give it context actually referring to a Jaihiliyah custom of dragging your clothes around as a form of ostentatious and pride and being wasteful.
"Whoever drags his Izar out of arrogance, Allaah will not look at him on the Day of Judgement."hoever drags his Izar out of arrogance, Allaah will not look at him on the Day of Judgement." (Al-Bukhari no. 5784 and Muslim no. 2085)
Nevermind the fact that the garments that are being referred to is actually an Izar, not pants., And nevermind that it's about people who are doing it to show off. Ignore those two important and related details. Because you know that's Salafism for you. Take everything literally with no context.
You're not defending Islam at all actually you're defending a warped interpretation given by people who are frankly most likely Psychopaths with some sort of OCD complex. You maybe in for a HUGE surprise when you find out that everything you've been lead to believe is The Prophet'(saw)'s sunnah is just a spin doctored exaggeration.....what intercession will you gain then?Last edited by Iblis_Efreetzai; 03-18-2018, 01:36 PM.

It seems like a case of fixing things that aren't broken. what's immoral or unislamic about celebriting nawroz? Because it's non-Arabic?
if you want to remove pre-Islamic aspects of non-Arab cultures, then go ahead ditch every part of you that's isn't similar to Arab. start dressing like an arab, talk like an arab, sound like an arab. lol. become completely undistinguishable from Arabs. lol to be Muslim, you need to be 100% Arabized. this logic is obviously flawed. Clearly it refers to people adhering to Islam not as Arabs, but as Muslims, to signify that Arab and Muslim are not and don't need to be the synnonymous.Last edited by UnknownUser; 03-18-2018, 07:20 AM.

To be fair ...these anti-"Nawruz" types may superficially seem like "Arabists" but in actuality they want to remove every facet of culture among Arabs too, they want to abolish Arab Music, playing the Oud, Arab arts and crafts, Don't be fooled by their thawbs and beards.Originally posted by UnknownUser View PostIt seems like a case of fixing things that aren't broken. what's immoral or unislamic about celebriting nawroz? They're really obscurantists and self hating more than pro-Arab.

Anyways, Nawruz will live on as long as we call these type of people out on their absurdity ..

Also since you mentioned preislamic customs, I may have mentioned earlier that the tawaaf around the Ka'abah was a preIslamic custom that Muslims reappropriated. Tnis suggests something being preislamic in origin would not be sufficient grounds for disparaging it.Originally posted by UnknownUser View Post
