What's considered dark and fair is also relative. North Indians are quite fair, but perhaps in your eyes we are dark. To Europeans you people are "dark" too.

Here in the West, white people actual prefer to be tanned and consider having some color and darkness as superior to being extremely white and pale.

To me color has nothing to do with beauty. Beauty is more about the features, the sharpness thereof. Even the Holy Quraan describes beautiful woman as having large eyes.

ALso since Pashtuns have been historical conquerors of Hind, saying you have a Pashtun wife is like saying they overtook their conquerors or something. it's like the way Blacks feel social prestige if they have a white wife.

That's only if an African American woman marries a white dude ...Black dudes **** a brick .....but black guys with a white lady is seen as taking the pride of the white man away ...this same attitude exists for Desis. The nuances in our distinctions is only apparent to the trained eye. To the outsider we all look the same.

To me I cannot immediately tell the difference between a Japanese person and a Korean person. Nor can I immediately tell the difference between a Russian and a German.

From my experience, Whites have a very difficult time distinguishing between all of us, Arabs, Afghans and Indians unless it is apparent through dress.

Japanese/Koreans and German/Russian is the same as Afghan/Iranian or Lebanees/Syrian, yes people cannot tell diffrence on first glance, with Afghans and Indian they can do tell and quite fast.

Also its usually a man who is not dark himself that usually wants to marry a woman with similar complexion to his own. Nothing wrong with it.

I will add that I have seen some dark black skinned Muhajirs married to very good looking Pashtun women who were neither fat or big nose. I know they were Pashtun women because they had full traditional Pashtun dress. I am assuming that was because the guys were rich and they must have bought their Pashtun brides from their families. Again nothing wrong with it as it is a Pashtun custom to sometimes sell girls.

Take the leaders of both Afghanistan and Pakistan. Those are the most prominent representatives of both countries. To someone who isn't aware which country they represent how can he tell who is Afghan and who is Pakistani? How will an average White person know that Ashraf Ghani is Afghan and Nawaz Sharif is Pakistani? Without the flashy dress, how will he know Karzai is Afghan and but Prime Minister Khaqan Abbasi is Pakistani?

Just look at Sultan Qaboos of Oman, without his Arab robes, a White person can easily mistake him for being an Indian. How can he determine that Sisi is Egyptian but Hasina Wajid is Bangladeshi?

Well like most Asians Indians also marry their own first especially if the family is traditional, yes you are right they search for light skinned women, they even admit doing that in every cultural show that is about India. But first in their own community and if the family is liberal they search in other ethnic groups.

Though I have to say that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. To me we Indians look better than "Iranics". I myself am an extremely fair complexion person. If I was walking around in Afghanistan I would stand out for being less dark not more dark than the general population. I'd probably be more taller than average Afghan too since I'm 5'11.

I'm not saying Afghan people are ugly, they definitely not, but when was the last time you heard an Afghan woman won a beauty contest? As far as I know, those beauty contests are dominated by Indians.

I'd worry more about giving Afghans something else to be proud of given the deteriorating situation of your country other than being proud of how you look like Iranians. You all have those massive noses and bushy brows anyways.

Pashtuns/Tajeks generally the people of hindukush/central Asia dont sell their daughters. The money given to the parent of the bride are spent for brides jewelries and shirnikhori. But even if we would sell our daughters it is still better than the begheirat/dalal/benamoos dowry System where brides have to spend money on the begheirat Indic groom.

Why do you assume I watch beauty shows? I honestly don't. I'm not saying I'm a perfect Muslim who doesn't watch TV and movies from time to time, but as for beauty shows I have no interest whatsoever is such nonsense. My mezaaj is more intellectual. Despite the fact that men are naturally attracted to beautiful women, I don't imagine very many heterosexual men are interested in watching beauty shows or reading fashion magazines.
