Chinese, Saudi troops march in Pakistan Day military parade | world-news | Hindustan Times

Chinese, Saudi and Turkish troops for the first time joined the Pakistan Day parade in the capital Islamabad on Thursday, in a sign of deepening ties.

Before Pakistan showed off long-range rockets, tanks and other military hardware, armed Chinese troops marched past Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the chief of Pakistan’s powerful military.

Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain said it was the first time Chinese troops participated in a parade in a foreign country, terming it a “historic event”, with the two countries embarking on building vast infrastructure together.

Soldiers from Saudi Arabia, a long-time Pakistan ally, also joined the parade, as did a military band from Turkey, another largely Muslim nation that has strengthened ties with nuclear-armed Pakistan in recent years.

Islamabad considers China an “all-weather friend” and in recent years the countries have grown even closer on the back of the $57 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a Beijing-funded network of road, rail and pipelines that will link western China with Pakistan’s Arabian Sea port of Gwadar.

The militaries of the two countries have in recent years also increased cooperation, with Chinese officials urging Pakistan to do more to improve security to help CPEC work.

China has long pressed Pakistan to do more to rein in Islamist militants, saying they have connections with extremists and separatists in China’s unruly far western region of Xinjiang.

The United States also has a strategic relationship with Pakistan, but the ties appear transactional at times, with Washington periodically cutting off funding for the Pakistani military to penalise it for failing to do enough to curb Islamist militants destabilising the region.

Chinese army marching with Pakistan, Saudi and Turkish forces. Not sure if this is good or bad just yet but one thing for sure this is India, Afghans and USA's worst nightmare.

Saudi and turkey are US allies. China's alliance with Pakistan is well established at this point. US will not be concerned in the slightest.

India will be... they're always upset that Pakistan has allies. But they're sc*m, so who cares?

Afghanistan is insignificant. They don't have the power to give a ****. They need to worry about super basic things, not going toe to toe with Pak.

With all due respect Manzareh you know I respect you buddy, but here you are behaving like a typical emotional Pakistani nationalist.

Its just a parade. Not a military or political alliance. Just a parade. Do you seriously believe KSA stands a chance against the USA? Come on they 100% rely on them for their own survival. You are only ally right now is China (and I seriously believe they are fully taking advantage of you).

If its just a military parade how come we don't see Indian military march in Kabul ? Come to think of it when was the last time any head of state visited Afghanistan ?

It's true though what I said, the afghan/India and co nationalists have been very angered by this, I've seen a lot of butthurt over this all over.

Plane tickets musta been very expensive though, only like 20 guys from each country are there lol.

To ham Kya kare?? What do you want us to do about it??

I saw something very beautiful concerning Pakistan the other day. There were two flights to Islamabad from Kabul that were boarding at the same time. One was by PIA, a Pakistani airline and one by Safi Airways, an Afghan airline. About 250 people boarded the Afghan airway plane and about 4 people boarded the Pakistani one. I was sitting there and giggling all the while. Two days later, torkham's gate has been opened for travellers of all sorts and type.

We all know the position that Pakistan is at, very clearly. Your little Turkish and Arabian mujra is not fooling anyone.

Afghanistan is insignificant in International Politics . Nobody is asking you to do anything . You have always been a spectator that's why There are foreigners ruling your country . As for Airlines from Afghanistan they are banned to fly to Europe/ USA/ Canada .

Come on wrora, we're all Pashtuns here. Why would you even say something like that. Saying stuff like that does'nt make you any different from the millions of others in both Afghanistan and pakistam who crack one at our expense.

America deeply probing your your tail pipe with its member, and you saying yes sir, whatever you say sir ; misn't something to gloat about.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."
