What I mean to say is that , thirty years ago , the communists and soviets were the villains.I don't think Najib was a popular figure back then. Now he is popular among many Afghans especially the young generation .(many of whom were not even born when he ruled). Its probably because we tend to think that the current situation is bad and the past is good.(probably part of human nature)
You are also trying to paint the picture that Afghanistan is worse off in every aspect today than it was in 80s.Which is far from reality. In 80s the whole country was engulfed in a vicious war(except Kabul), there was virtually no concept of education, health care etc.
Now the war is on a very limited scale, under supervision of western forces and Afghan govt the development works are carried out in nearly the entire country.
The casualties in the current war(after 2001) are much lower than in the Soviet war of the 80s.
Najib is a loser. Most Afghans don't like him. Pashtun nationalists are trying to make him out into some kind of a prophet by saying that he predicted the Pakistani strategic depth. They even claim that Panjabis killed him. This is part of the afghan gov narrative of labeling their own failures on Pakistan just like the way your pakistani leaders blame their own failures on India.

The reality is that his policies created an environment that destroyed the country and it were his policies that created ethnic hatred. He used Uzbek Dostom to butcher Kandaharis and Helmandis which led to many Pashtuns abandoning him.
During his tenure as chief of KHAD and then president, half the afghan population refuged to pakistan and iran and 2 million afghans perished not to mention the leveling of many villages with carpet bombing.

DZJ thinks that Afghanistan was some sort of Communist utopia back in the 80's when she is hiding the fact that most afghans were either being killed with carpet bombs or running away to neighboring countries from those carpet bombs.

The so-called liberals of Pakistan as well as the the Afghans(such as DaZahroJaam) hold this notion, nothing could be further from the truth.
      I'm afraid you are mistaken.

The people attacking Pakistan today are the same armed militias that people argue Pakistan had for it's strategic assets.

After 9/11, the US invaded Afghanistan, which threw a bit of a monkey-wrench into the whole thing. It cause some backlash but these guys, but the backlash really picked up when the drone strikes started happening. That's when the terrorist attacks/bomb blasts in Pakistan were at it's most frequent.

The reason they attacked Pakistan was because Pakistan was aiding their enemies.

Because people like DZJ and Firdousi think that when the ISI farts, a hurricane is formed to wipe out afghanistan when it cant even wrestlea tiny Kashmir from passive hindus.

He was killed in 2004.He genuinely was against Pakistan's decision to support U.S in war on terror, but he made peace deal with Pak govt and didn't kill Pakistanis. The current form of TTP that carries out attacks in Pakistan came into being around 2007-08.

Some of the people attacking Pakistan today may have been used by Pakistan as strategic assets in the past. But generally speaking, the bulk of the anti-Pakistan militants today are not those who have fought in Afghanistan ,either before 2001 or after.

In fact her statement makes no sense. On one hand they accuse ISI of supporting the Afghan Taliban, and on the other hand they claim that the ISI asked U.S to empower Afghan army.
Why would Taliban supporters also support the Afghan army, considering they are on opposite ends of the pole?
That's what happens when you speak before thinking, which is a problem common among both Pakistanis and Afghans.

Aww, would you look at that. I hurt someone else's feelings for suggesting ISI was a group of double crossing agents. How cruel of me.
Yeah, I think I am done with taking this forum seriously from now on. I didn't survive mujahideen and Taliban for this.

Dude, he explained it twice... he was being sarcastic. Nobody said ISI actually supported ANA.. he was making fun of how everyone blames ISI for everything wrong in Afghanistan, and made up this example and said NYT didn't mention ISI told foreign occupiers to employ pedos. LOL

ISI is a third world agency. Only people who believe ISI is the best security agency in the world are retarded Paki nationalist morons.

BTW your Pashto sucks. Just like yourself lmao

You can be as sarcastic as you like.I'm sure it must be frustrating that your neighbouring country's intelligence agency(ISI) is playing with your own country.
And just to add, I didn't serve in the Pakistan army for 19 years ( 1989-2008) to come out so fragile to get offended by a comment from a lady.
In fact,I was in service when the ISI were wreaking havoc with your country,as you like to think.

What I do find disappointing is that such off the mark comments divert us serious forum users from the discussion we were doing.

How amusing. I don't know if I am good at getting confessions out of people or you have ****ty secret keeping skills but for a person who claims to have served with secret intelligence, that right ther was an utterly idiotic thing to do.

Now gloat in pride while I clap for you. You must have been quite an asset. Why wouldn't what I had to say up there not make sense to you or amuse you.

And how ironic that khushal should not onlly get along so well with you but also have a mutual understanding of things.. bravo. Continues clapping**

-I didn't serve in secret intelligence.and I never claimed to do so. I was in the army. There is nothing secret about that.
-Even if someone served in intelligence , they do not have to keep it hidden after they retire.Don't you see retired personnel of various services such as ISI,CIA etc on television?
-I can get along well with anyone. I am not here to fight with anyone, unlike many frustrated people here.I only visit this place to chat with fellow Pashtuns about various issues in a decent, civilised manner.
-Plus, I forgot to add this in my previous post, so I'll say it here that :you said you survived Taliban and Mujahideen, why didn't you add the Soviets? Proves my point right that nowadays Afghans look back fondly towards the Communists and blame everything on Mujahideen and Taliban.

To be quite frank, I did not finish reading your post. Regardless of what you were or were not, it's pretty clear as to where you stand when it comes to the matter of genuine concern for afghans or Afghan affairs. Having said that, I have no interest in discussing my concerns for my people or country with an individual of a similar background as you.

Why don't you go, make yourself some tea and think about why you found yourself with the need to pretend being a Pashtun before joining this forum. Your chances of discussing Pakistani serials with me is higher than anything politically or culturally related to afghans or Afghanistan.

                            Good night.

The fact that your attitude towards me changed when you came to know my background, and not because of what I said in my earlier posts proves that I did not say anything offensive in my posts but its because of your prejudice towards my country's armed forces. Which is not surprising.
Secondly,I am as much a Pashtun as you are.Having served in Pakistan army does not change one's ethnicity.
You are at liberty if you want to discuss anything with me or not, but first I'll make a few things clear for the information of not just you but also other members.
I am not here on this forum on any anti-Afghan agenda or anything of that sort. My prime reason is to discuss various matters and voice my opinion on issues on a Pashtun platform. Therefore, I show respect to all.Yes in one or two instances I might have written a comment where I may have come across as a typical Afghan hater, but that is mainly because you guys create hostility in the atmosphere on this forum.
Also, I am not anti-Afghanistan per say as most Pakistanis are nowadays.I may not be in favour of the current Afghan government,But I consider the Afghan people, especially the Pashtuns , to be my own people and blood.I want to see Afghanistan happy and peaceful, just as I have these feelings for Pakistan.
In fact, I am dead against the cruel treatment that Pakistan is carrying out with Afghan refugees. And particularly the fact that they create hurdles for Afghans wanting to cross over into Pakistan, many of whom are actually in search of medical treatment etc.
There is a lot of hatred out there, and I don't want to add to it.
Also, you can't expect everyone to have the same social and political views as yourself. There is a thing called difference of opinion.

In the end , I just want to pose a question, especially for you,DZJ , but anyone else can also answer it:
You are bitter towards Pakistan specifically the army and establishment due to their policies in Afghanistan. Can you give a positive and logical suggestion as to what the Pakistani policy towards Afghanistan should have been in :
                                1) The soviet period
                                2) Najib period(after soviet pull out)
                                3) Mujahideen/topakyaan infighting /civil war period
                                4)Taliban govt
                                5)American war
