The policy of duplicity, while certainly a partial culprit, can be solved if the people doing the "solving" were professional, instead of acting like thugs.

It's pakistan though, expecting that level of moral high ground is naive. You don't see that in any army. Obama Withholding 2,1 Iraq and Afghanistan Torture Photos 'Worse than Abu Ghraib'

Let's say the elite paki pashtuns wanted to stop this, how would they reply when they get accused of being TTP sympathizers?
You dont understand. The policy of duplicity is Pakistan playing the double game of supporting the insurgency in Afghanistan including encouraging Wazir and Masuds to fight in Afghanistan and at the same time supporting the Afghan gov. The reason some of the insurgents turned their guns ont he paki state was because of this double dealing. Elite paki Pashtuns were in bed with this policy to get financial compensation. It does not take a genius to figure what will happen and that was the destruction of their own pashtun people.

Punjabi pako are trying to cash on the heads of dead school children. In reality they have no sympathy with them, they just wana play politics over them, releasing songs and emotionaly blackmailing people.
How can they forget thousand of documented children died in drone attacks and bajaur massacre in which 80 students lost lives when a madressah was bombed. Right on kiyani comes on national tv took responsibility that it was not a drone attack rather pakistan air force. They think only they can play games

KP collapse is a collapse of state, and KP lose is actually lose of the state. simple as that.
a mater of fact is pakistan army hit waziristan very hardly bombed it to oblivion, like it is an enemy territory. it 's intentions were not to win people heart and flush militants out but to subdue the people of the area, invade and conquer the land, destroying infrastructure, razing economy to ground, make the whole population refugee and then humiliate them on daily basis. as samandari have explained this was the way of colonel british. this is how you make people bow and smash their pride. you make them beg for piece of loaf.
point is had pakistan fought the war against insurgents the way countries fought for example india in IOK, or the same pakistan fighting it in karachi and punjab, i would never dwell on taliban successes, but that Major who got blown up was simply not fighting to safeguard the ordinary people lives in KP, rather than the status quo. they made life miserable for everyone.
for me the people of KP, FATA and afghan pashtun matter equal, so i would pick my kin rather than ****ed face.
another thing worth mentioning is TTP is an umbrella organisation with very loose independent faction. only thing these faction had common was animosity toward state. these faction fought each other almost to death in FATA, one faction rose at the cost of others. they had very big ideological difference. one was shia hater, other was global jihadist, some were warlords, other were resistance movement with nationalist tendencies for example the waziri faction, group led by shehryar mehsud and hafiz gul bahadar faction which is main rival in shawal and has historically distanced himself from TTP largely. but army used the same yard stick for everyone, identified them as taliban as a whole, propagating the notion like they are mercenaries and proxy of hindues fighting for money, as a result waziristan, khyber and mohmand agency had to bear the brunt for the crimes commuted by punjabi taliban factions, lashkar e jangvi,, SSP. these organisation have their command and control infrastructure in south punjab and karachi, but only intelligence based operation were held there. since 2014, 9,308 intelligence based operation were carried out only in punjab, which can give you the idea how punjab is infested. similarly al qaeda main presence in in punjab and karachi.

i don't know how to sums this up, but this attack was accepted by shehryar mehsud faction, these waziri and mehsud taliban are fighting on their own, and have little to no relation with TTP, TTP which is now based in kunar and nuristan may have contacts with NDS,actually disown these factions and do not take responsibility of their attacks. waziri taliban are living in khost and paktia region, these are the sanctuaries of Afghan taliban and haqqani, and Afghan government have no presence here. they are fighting independently to defend their homeland from the ****ed face.
That's a lot of stuff in 1 post. Reason why it happened (pretending indian influence wasn't a factor for a minute) is because of NATO presence in Afghanistan. Pakistan was seen as allying with the invaders. End result was kp paid the price.

I agree with you on attack on kp. This is why TTP need to be controlled. Lest they attack again.

No one is denying it is heavy handed. There is some bias with the govt, but attacks on kp can not be allowed to take place. The various factions pose a credible threat. Especially when you start considering foreign influence.

All that said, you're right. Trying to subdue them in this manner is a huge problem.

That doesn't make sense. The insurgents shouldn't care about "double dealing". They turned their guns because pakistan was under pressure to pursue them, and because pakistan was allying with NATO.

Whether pak supported insurgents in reality is something else entirely. Supporting how exactly? Financial? Most of these guys are self funded. Heroine is profitable.

You need to cite some of your claims. Right now they're unsubstantiated, and the only places that echo these claims are sub par news outlet in a certain country to the east of Pak.

Remember supporting is not the same as "not being a police state". The fact is, people can go in and out of the border, and another fact is, many people have little incentive to stop this.

The real problems started happening during the Obama administration. All the kp bomb blasts and the done strikes took place then. That's when the guns started turning. When Pak was no longer a safe haven. Double dealing has nothing to do with it. It's merely a case of "don't support my enemy".

Listen munafiq, the ultimate villain in the story is Pakistan army and the state. If you were not stupid, i would have given reasons for saying so........but knowing how much stupid and bewakoof you are, it will be a useless exercise. (Now dont cry).....that being said, i have no issues with cleansing of TTP by Raheel Shareef, after all army is cleaning its own filth and feces. And the destruction of lives and livelihood at their hands in these operations, should serve as lesson for future generation of not just Waziristanis but all Pashtuns
Not crying. Just curious as to why you are trying to insult me. Using the word munafiq is a big deal.

I'm not an Army fanboy, although I hold Pakistan Army in high regard.

TTP.. I couldn't care less about.

Let me give you two scenarios:

Pakistan army is bombarding villages and towns(action that I don't agree with). They are not being ordered to shoot and kill civilians.

TTP are killing children and women. They are ordered to do these things.

              Let's be brutally honest here.

Pakistani populace no longer gives a **** about Tribals or Afghans after APS. In fact, this is the first time in history that an overwhelming majority of Pakistanis are showing open hostilities towards Afghans and refugees in general.

Fortunately, I'm not stupid enough to believe every Afghan or refugee is a bad person. But I will admit that I was pissed after APS. I was pissed off because some of our tribals were hosting these thugs and mercenaries.

You can agree or disagree. But there is no need to be rude with me.

I have friends in Peshawar that are happy saying things like I hope these maajars go back to Afghanistan. To you they may all be 'Gul Khans', but you would be intellectually dishonest to say that a majority of people in KPK don't hold this sentiment. In fact, people in KPK are more negative towards Afghans than us in Punjab. I dealt with a good number of Afghans in Punjab, but outside their bastis they don't cause a problem, so I don't have a problem.

The problem between Afghanistan and Pakistan is simply this. They were used to conquering Punjab and Sindh for so many years. Now that it's been reversed for the first time in history, they are butt hurt. It's more of an ego thing than actual people hating each other.

Just my 2 cents. Please elaborate whether you think I'm wrong or right.

Rooh2, let's be fair. Pakistan government (whether civilian or military) does get a portion of the blame.

Not too long ago, they would take money from basically the US to reduce militancy, but on the other hand they wouldn't do anything substantial to stop them. Ie they paid lip service. Look, in pakistan you can free roam and training a few people in empty space is certainly easy to get away with. Before that, pakistan was even arming them. I'm not making any claims as to whether this was good or bad. It had both its pros and cons.

The problem is after all that arming, they're now turning their backs on them. These guys are not defenceless. Their operations have been disproportionately in KP and FATA. I suspect this is because militants would cross the border, shoot NATO people, cross back.

It's not simply the tables have turned, only 1 group of people have borne the brunt of it. It's not black and white, as swat taliban example can show.

Pakistan supporting insurgency in afghanistan is well known. The drug trade is mostly done by the Afghan gov and army.

PESHAWAR: The second phase of the payment of compensation for damaged houses in South Waziristan Agency will begin today (Friday).

A total of 4,700 militancy affected families of Mehsud tribe will be paid cash during the phase.

The Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Unit of the Civil Secretariat Fata under the federal government-funded Citizen Loss Compensation Programme had paid compensation money to 5,445 of the 5,575 families in the first phase.

An official told Dawn that the steering committee consisting of officials of the relevant departments, army officers and local elders had verified the cases of 4,700 families for compensation and that they would be paid cash assistance.

4,700 militancy-hit families of Mehsud tribe will get payments for damaged houses
He said 40 families would get cash compensation during a ceremony to be held in Chagmali area of South Waziristan today (Friday).

The disproportionate use of force by security forces against militants in tribal areas, especially South Waziristan Agency, had caused widespread damages to houses, commercial properties and other infrastructure.

In addition, weather was another factor that caused severe damage to houses in the last few years.

After the completion of military operations, the government announced the payment of compensation for damaged houses. The RRU is paying Rs400,000 for a fully damaged and Rs160,000 for a partially damaged house in the militancy-hit tribal area to the affected families.

The official said the survey teams had identified around 6,000 damaged houses in third phase in South Waziristan and that owners would be paid compensation once the government released funds.

“The survey of damaged houses in Mehsud area is likely to be completed in five phases,” he said.

The official said the army units had begun immediate reconstruction of drinking water, health and educational facilities in the area.

Payment of compensation in North Waziristan Agency is also in progress.

Around 2,000 houses damaged in the Zarb-i-Azb military operation have been surveyed in North Waziristan.

The authorities had paid compensation to 397 affected families in North Waziristan so far, while the next phase of payment of compensation will start very soon.

The official sources said teams had completed survey of 4,100 damaged houses in Khyber Agency, too.

Another official said delay in the release of funds from the centre had caused delay in payment of compensation to militancy-stricken families.

He said the civil secretariat had asked the federal government to release Rs1.2 billion to be paid to the families in Khyber Agency.

The official said the survey of damaged houses had been completed in different areas of Khyber Agency.

Also, the payment of compensation for damaged houses in Kurram and Orakzai agencies hangs in balance.

The civil secretariat had released Rs193 million and Rs150 million for Orakzai and Kurram agencies, respectively, but its payment has yet to begin.

Officials said the return of IDPs to their homes was going on very fast compared to the payment of compensation to the irritation of returnees.

The government has already announced the return of all IDPs to their homes in Fata by the end of December.

According to the Fata Disaster Management Authority, a total of 245,246 families has gone back to Fata while the rest will be repatriated by the end of the year.

The return of IDPs to Kurram, Orakzai and Khyber agencies is near completion, while that of IDPs to Orakzai Agency is likely to be completed by November 15.
