• Pashtuns perspective of Ahmad Shah Masood

Why do many of you badmouth him? He defended our country against the invaders and he predicted that Pakistan will use it's spies to destroy Afghanistan.

Pakistan found about it and killed them with their terrorists. He was announced national hero by Afghan millat wasn't he?

he was just another warlord who fought for power. his jahad was done when the Russians left, if his intentions were so heroic he would have refrained from fueling civil war in afghanistan after Russians.

he was no better or worse than the heads of other 7 groups formed during Russian invasion.

and to name him hero is like slap on our face.

Why is it a slap? Didn't he stand up against the Russian. He defended the nation and it's pride.

If it wasn't for him our nation would have been a colony.

Why do we badmouth him? it's not that we have chosen to speak, and speak only after him. If it comes up, yes we will denounce his stand and party. But, I dont think he is important enough for us, to be discussed in our society, or here. We have plenty to worry about ourselves.
Now, regarding spies and Pakistan, Rabbani (Masood's mentor/Shorai nezar's head) was the first puppet president of Afghanistan appointed by Islamabad in the 90s.

And, Who is Afghan Millat to announce who is a hero and who isn't one?

Here is a video of his commander General Khodaidad, describing everything in details. From how Masood had anounced cease-fires and had secret meetings with KGB.
YouTube - Ahmad Shah Masoud He belonged to the Jamiat-i-Islami an ultra-fundamentalist Terrorist Group
In Afghanistan, if one has to be considered as the national hero of the entire country, he has to have done something past the southern or eastern borders of Kabul.

Oh and here is another reason, why WE don't consider him important enough to be an Afghan national hero:

^Dukhtar -e Kabul: I think u are taking it a bit too far as far as your last statement is concerned. he didn't save us from Russians ... makes me even laugh to say it haha...there were people who did jahad and saved our land from Russians, but those people were NOT masood, rabani, gulbudeen, dustom or so forth... the ones that did jahad were ordinary people who stood up and fought and these warlords took the credit for it.

once Russians left the war should have been over... but No instead of fighting for peace and stability of afghanistan after the Russians tore it apart, they started fighting for power and civil war errupted in afghanistan. Since 1989 till 1996 afghanistan was in civil war because the leaders of these groups, one of them masood, was not willing to give up the fight for power.

Cut the long story short, Massoud's entire career treaded on fighting Pashtun power and dominance and establishing his own. He was against Pakistan for stratetgic reasons. He was pro-Russia and even durring the war he used to safe-guard their supplies so they can bomb the hell out of Hekmatyar and Pashtun domain. He is our enemy and so is his ilk and his ideology. Glad that the son of a biatch is blown to pieces.

One day, if Taliban come back I will personally go and take him out of his grave by his tail like a rat and fling him towards Tajikistan or into the Amu river. Although I hate Taliban but I don't think they would mind me doing that.

That speech was not by Masood it was a Jirga held and that is what a community member of that neighborhood had said. Look up a member named Khidr of PF he had elaborated on that.

Show me proof that he hated Pashtuns. He wanted to see Afghanistan stable and power. He did not want Pakis to be a influence.

Here is why i think Masood was a traitor and glad that he is no more:

Masood and Rabbani were the very first Afghans to have been trained by ISI in 1973 (Kohat) by then Lt.Colonel Naseerullah Babar.
Masood signed a safe passage treaty with Russians in Hairatan in 1984.
Masood started sweeping northern Afghanistan off Mujahideen that were resistant to USSR invasion.
Masood in 1989 projected a withdrawl strategy for Russians by abolishing Afghanistan's sovereignty and dividing it into North and South (which didn't work)
Masood in 1990 made a deal with PARCHAMI section (who were mostly Parsiwan Communists) of Najibullah's government and succeeded overthrowing his might creating a civil war that claimed the life of 0.5 million civilians.
Masood in 1991 (according to Zaid Hamid/**** ISI official) got tremendous help and arms to fuel civil war in Afghanistan.
Masood in 1993 organized the "Nahr e Siraj conference" where all fictions (Warlords) representing minorities of Afghanistan gathered and were proposed with the idea of separating 13 northern provinces as an independent confederation.

Regarding the person bashing Pashtuns in this video:

Dukhtar e Kabul there is a saying in Dari;

خاموشی مانند یا نصف اقرار است

My feeling of Masood is very neutral, but I have to say he was also getting paid to do the dirty job, if he ever choose to be a leader himself, I would say he would of been supported, but many people like brother Millat Popalzai or Sher Khan, assume his actions were all based on his own decision. Dear members I shell say that Masood no power in terms of making decision, sure I too blame him for many things, but his love increased as ages pasted and as he himself regarded as being "Slave" to Pakistan. Remember guys he was the one who revealed Pakistan's dirty plans, it was him who said I am standing on others toes. SO please be careful to where and how you read him. Despite that all of those people who support him today ie Shias/Islamis were the ones who hated him. Remember it was him who finished off Iranian backed Hazara party who were looting Kabul City.

Everyone has their own down side, everyone talks, just like now Hero Najeeb, back then Najeeb-e-Gow, same with Ahmad Shah Masod. In reality yes his was young and naive but remember with him also included Hekmatyar. Some people loves Hekmatyar, others like myself hate him, some people love Najeeb others hate him, same applies to modern Puppet Karzai, some loves him and some hates. Politics is nasty.
Happy Ramadan everyone. ‫نشيد (زين الشهور) كااااملة || Zain Ramadan Nasheed-Full Version‬‎ - YouTube

First of all, the title of this thread is manipulative in that it suggests that Pashtuns have a different prespective to that of other Afghans. We are all Afghans and the Afghan prespective on Masood and Gulbudeen is that they destroyed Afghanistan. Sure, they fought against the Russians but what happened after Russians left? Weren't they and their close allies drug runners? Highway bandits? Rapists? Didn't they inject poison in vegetable and fruits, something no other tyrant has done in modern history?

Najeeb's prognosis of Pakistan's covert enmity towards Afghanistan predates that of Masood's, should we declare Najeeb a national hero?

Maygan, insaan ke nazdeek ba gharq shodan misha baz changaal ba khas wa khashak e lab e darya mayzana. Motasifana, ami dastaan e brothera wa khwahara e tajik-parast ma ast wa eenha anan e and ke manand e ma khod ra afghan namedanand wa mayel ba ahura mazda astan!

O'faithful hearken thy vezir, for he promises them another Gandamak and for the ancestors of Hari Nalwa a similar fate has been sealed. We shall shake the foundations of their inner sanctums, written in gold and immortal will remain this endeavor of Afghans.
