  • Afghanistan to stop Pakistani medicines import after Kabul attacks

The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) announced today that the medicines import from Pakistan will be banned following a series of deadly attacks in capital Kabul which left scores of people dead or wounded.
The decision was collectively taken by ACCI and Medicine Importing Companies’ Union in Kabul.

A demonstration is also due for Kabul on Saturday by ACCI and the Union of Medicine Importing Companies to protest against the involvement of Pakistani military and intelligence agencies in recent Kabul attacks.
“Medicine Importing Companies’ Union and ACCI while extremely condemning the recent terrorist attacks took place in Kabul that caused civilian casualties and financial losses to private sector that surely are managed and conducted by Pakistani military, announce that henceforth will never import Pakistani medicines,” a statement by ACCI said.

This comes as Kabul witnessed a string of deadly attacks carried out by the militant groups during the past one week which left scores of people dead or wounded.

The Afghan Intelligence – National Directorate of Security (NDS) said Wednesday that specific elements within the Pakistani army was behind the deadly attacks in capital Kabul, apparently gesturing towards the country’s military intelligence – Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).
NDS spokesman Haseeb Sediqi told reporters that the attacks were carried out by the elements of the Pakistani army with the help of their mercenaries – Haqqani terrorist network.

The former Afghan President Hamid Karzai called on United States and the West not to support Pakistan’s military intelligence – Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), blaming it for sponsoring terrorism in Afghanistan.

Speaking among the gathering of Afghans youths to celebrate the International Youth Day, the former Afghan President said politicians and military leaders of the United States, United Kingdom and other countries admitted in the past that Pakistan’s military intelligence is the founder and sponsor of terrorism.
Karzai further added that the US and Western leaders must stop supporting the sponsors of terrorism if they agree with the fact that ISI is supporting terrorism in the region.

    1. Karzai and Ghani seem to be working together and Karzai is able to say things that Ghani can't as head of state.

Karzai is telling the Americans and British to stop supporting the Pakistanis i.e. indirectly blaming them for the Kabul massacre.

However what should be worrying for these two regimes (American and British) is that western power is decreasing whilst Chinese and Russian power is increasing.

China and Russia want a stable Afghanistan, whilst the west want divide and rule.

In the next decade or two the west will be in no position to destabilize Afghanistan and history will portray them as mischievous trouble makers who caused problems for the country.

    2. Ghani should approach the OIC to get involved in this conflict between two Muslim countries, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Though nothing will come of it, it's a major psychological victory.

Pakistanis/Punjabis have used the "Islam" and "Muslim brotherhood" card for decades, trying to subdue and silence legitimate grievances by non-Punjabi Muslims by trying to trick them in to accepting Punjabi hegemony in the name of "Muslim Brotherhood".

The fact that if the OIC got involved that Pakistan can't play the "we are Muslims, and the other side is not" card, as Afghans are Muslims, in fact more Islamic than heavily Hindu-influenced Punjabis.

This is an intra-Muslim conflict not a Muslim v non-Muslim card and Pakistan will have to learn the hard way that it cannot keep using the "Muslim card" cynically for its own benefit, as this card can be used against it.

This is what I would suggest the Afghan government do.

a: Ask for an OIC body/commission to be set up on terrorism in Afghanistan i.e. the Taliban.

b: Ask for OIC members who are heavily against terrorism such as Algeria, Egypt, Uzbekistan as well as of course Turkey, Iran and Saudi Arabia to be involved.

c: Ask for a special OIC envoy to be assigned to help Kabul combat terrorism and for Pakistan-Afghanistan bi-lateral problems.

This envoy would regularly fly to Kabul and Islamabad or even be stationed in Kabul.

By internationalizing the Pakistani war against Afghans, it puts the Pakistanis in a more difficult position, and having to face more embarrassingly difficult questions.

I would strongly suggest that general Dostum actively encourage the Turks to back this idea.

    Dostum with Erdogan.

Nothing major might come out of this but it would put more pressure on the Pakistanis to at least be more covert for their support for the Taliban, as well as put pressure on Saudi Arabia and Turkey, two fanatically pro-Pakistan countries to lean on Pakistan to behave.

      1. The Afghan boycott of Pakistani medicines is embarrassing for the Pakistani military that runs the country as people can turn around and say they are not the "champions of Islam" they portray themselves to be, but are hated by fellow Muslims e.g. Afghans.

      2. This is one of the most important bodies composed of educated professional elite Afghans.

The fact that they have decided to hurt the Punjabis/Pakistanis where it really hurts in their pocket will hurt the Punjabi generals of Rawalpindi who rule Pakistan. This is because Pakistanis businesses will suffer and these businessmen will perhaps in turn be angry with their regime for damaging their relations with Afghanistan. It is a big if as Pakistanis are indoctrinated to worship their army and anyone who dares question the army in the eyes of many Pakistanis deserves to be killed.

However this boycott by Afghans could in turn be a prelude to more boycotts.

Pakistani businesses could perhaps end up permanently losing a market of 30 million customers (more than the population of the whole of Scandinavia) and their competitors in places such as India, Iran, Bangladesh etc may replace them.

      3. With increasing Afghan military power, with China and Russia getting more and more involved in Afghanistan, I see the days of Pakistani terrorism in Afghanistan coming to an end.

We are perhaps seeing the first nascent signs of that with Pakistans rulers, the army chief and ISI boss running to Kabul regularly, holding Afghan v Taliban talks in Pakistan and other things.

Afghan power is increasing and Afghanistan will no longer be the landlocked isolated state which is used as the phantom "5th province" of the federation of Pakistan or for "strategic depth".

So instead of hitting them where it hurts like transit or what little economic leverage Afg has over them, they choose medicine imports?

Who gets the worst of this? Afghans needing cheap as possible meds or Paki med markets who just see it as a loss and export elsewhere?

Ghani IS truely the Obama of Afg.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

You realise there is other big producers around the corner right?? Like India, Iran, China, Russia.

In the first place why "paki" medicine comes to Afghanistan is because of majority of Pashtun connections near the border.

                1. This is a major event in the recent national history of Afghanistan and the Afghan national consciousness as it displays Afghan maturity and awareness of their economic power.

It may be limited but it does make an impact.

                2. There may even be some difficulty but Afghans know that they are in fact in a state of war, Pakistan is waging a war against them.

This is not as fierce as the Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s but still a war of aggression against Afghanistan by the Pakistanis.

In a war situation you may have to sacrifice certain cheap medicines for alternative medicines which in the long run could save lives by ending the Pakistani war against Afghanistan, 50 people died in this recent Pakistani-organized massacre in Kabul.

                50 people!

That's 33 more than the Charlie Hebdo incident.

Police near the controversial anti-Semitic and Islamophobic "Charlie Hebdo" magazine.

                Enough is enough.

This boycott is not one calling for violence, but one opposing violence and seeking peace.

Nearly 70 years of independence and Pakistan has achieved nothing apart fro ruining Afghanistan, genocide in Bangladesh, tens of thousands of Pakistanis dead in the past decade, humiliation at the hands of India.

Pakistan needs to re-evaluate itself and ask why it is such a misery-stricken, terrorist-exporting failed state?

Why is it such a failure?

Porkistan is a British project to have a division in the region so that India-Afghanistan-Iran-China-Bangladesh etc are not quite united against the western aggressions, usury and stealing resources in our countries.

Just like Israel is a European/USA made project to have a hold into the minor Asia to rule over the dumb Arabs.

To find 100% INDEPENDENT COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD is just to check if they have FOREIGN BASES inside their soil, getting their resources pumped dry and their banks are private owned by IMF/WORLD BANK so all TAX MONEY goes into their masters.

Ghani ? Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) is a nongovernment organization of businesses and companies in Kabul.

More than 60% of all medicines in Pakistan are fake.

There was an Afghan-German pharmaceutical company in Kabul which was destroyed during 90s dog fight...per a irani doctor family friend the meds produce was high regarded in 70s and 80s in Iran because of the quality.

What if Pakistan decides to ban treatment of Afghan patients in pakistani hospitals?. The conditions of hospitals in afghanistan is unimaginably worst, of 19th century standard. And lets not pretend, there is not even a dialysis centre in afghanistan.
About medicines, i think Afghanistan mostly uses indian medicines.

Excuse me very much but Pakistan doesn't treat afghans for free. In a country where 20 rupees can get you out of traffic violations followed by a salut as if you were the novelty passing by the road, no one has pride enough to say no to the business that comes along with afghan patients.
Besides, afghans are boycotting them because of their egos and pride. What the hell would be Pakistan's excuse??
