First, it's Paktia, then it's Malakand, then it's Kunar .......I would think people would get their mythology straight by now.

And he was heavily defeated in Balkh too so whats your point? Besides the Maryuans and Ghaznavids took over those areas quite easily, espicially the east for the turks since that's where they were established already.

It was according to maps which say otherwise, btw your source says these areas were diluted in Indian blood lol, which is so not true.

None of the Wiki citations refer to Pashtuns as having shot Alexander with an arrow.

But people who pre-dated Pashtuns, Were distinct ethnic group and spoke a totally different language. Kambojas never spoke Pashto, neither did the Aspasioi

^That's a questionable claim, some even say the Nuristani's are descendants of Kambojas since they inhabited the regions they live in today. Either way no one knows who they were and i love how this thread got derailed very fast.

But Pashtuns are not historically horse breeders, they're camel breeders (if we follow the Pastoralist theory). So the term is a misnomer. And The Scholars that made this conclusion are from the 19th century......That's more than 100 years ago. Even the "modern scholars" the wikipedia blog suggests are merely referencing these largely outdated scholars. Linguistic Analysis has come a LONG way from then and many times such word relations are concluded to be False Friends (this is a linguistic term) Even the word Afghan has other alleged orgins like the word "feghan" which means "Unruly" Totally different than Ashvaska and the like.

Even in your Wikipieda link it lists Avagana in Sanskrit and Abgan in farsi, BOTH Totally different words than Ashvaka. Since Ashp refers to Horse, and AB/AV refers to WATER. So which is it?

and The Kambojas did not speak Pashto ...so how could they be Pashtun?

Because speaking like a Western born brat would imply adopting their beliefs.

If you see that as implying that Pashtuns are some amazon tribe in the wilderness, then that's clearly something you feel yourself because of an inferiority complex. By your own logic just look at Pashtuns killing each other now and even in history. Durrani against Ghilzai, Taliban against Mujahid. Tribes fighting tribes. You said it, not me.

If you think Nationalism is the solution, why hasn't it worked after all these years?

the irony in your internet verbal diarrhea is hilarious. So in your mind letting Pashtuns solve their problems on their own terms by their own values is slavery but miraculously your way of thinking that is born from indoctrination and subservience to Western imperialism, seeks to impose Western hegemony and values implies a liberated mind and defines what a Real Pashtun is?

Not even a mentally disabled, mute child that had a frontal lobotomy would fall for line of drivel. ....oh wait, you already have.

That doesn't have anything to do with what I said thougg.

Pashtuns being historically pastoralists were not involved in breeding horses as a primary trait. This didn't mean they didn't have any horses but that they were mainly dealing with camels. Look at Kuchis ...how often do you see them with horses? Kuchis are the closest link to Early Pashtuns.

Ancestor ..not Pashtuns themselves just like our ancestors were from Africa but we're not Africans nor are Africans the same as Pashtuns.

Also here a source from Smarty about the Pashtuns breeding horses.

Kakar's were horse breeders during the lodi time
                          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naghar_(Pashtun_tribe)
The Sulaiman mts were also the home to the Indus Valley civilization and they definitely bred horses. Even Loy Afghanistan posted a link about Mundigak which is alleged to be an Indus Valley outpost. You even cheered the post he cites the link in. I guess you didn't investigate the links he used and just got swept away by the pretentious bravado?

Rohillas were descendants of Pashtuns in India. Pashtuns that lived in India had to adopt a drastically different different habits due to different climate and terrain. This is the same case with the Bahlol Lodhi link. Here it even says here

Kakar, Pani(Balail Zai), Devi and Babi were real brothers. All tribes are present in Baluchistan(Pakistan) and Afghanistan. The Kakar tribe were camel and horse breeders entered in India with Bahlol Lodi's army around 1451(chapter 9) [1] and remained in glory as long as Lodi ruled. That's why the population of Lodi, Kakar and Pani is less as compared to other Afghan tribes in Baluchistan and Afghanistan
Furthermore this has little to do with ancient Pashtuns but medieval Pashtuns that were in India.

You have to be more critical when you read things rather than just fly off the cuff and jump on anything that you think validates Pashtuns. We can't be like Loy Afghanistan and start saying "look look I proven it" without checking to see if the claim is consistent with the available evidence. That's not how knowledge or proving things works. We need to look at all the evidence not just the stuff we like and ignoring the sruff we don't like.

It's also alleged that Pashtuns lived there in ancient times and this is just based on folklore . Artifacts are more tangible than folklore. Let's not just cherry pick things here. Al Biruni is a fine source for his contemporary explanation but he didn't have modern archaeological methods. We have artifacts the connect Dravidians speakers to the area but none of ancient Pashtuns....don't you find that strange?

The fact remains that it wasn't just one type of people living in the Suleman range in ancient times. Since we know Indus Dravidians loved horses ...maybe the Asvakas were in reference to a clan of Indus Dravidians?

Oh yeah and you hadn't addressed why some suggest Afghan comes from Sanskrit Asvakas and some the Sanskeir Avgana, those are two completely differenr words and a glaring contradiction in the etymology of Afghan.

Well Maybe ..the available evidence suggests that people when they migrated to a place like India, adopted horse breeding or that the people of the Suleiman Mountains were originally some possibly Dravidian group that were known as Horse breeders?

Your suggestion would not be the only plausible or even likely possibility.
