Giving the strategic location of Afghanistan I doubt there is shortness of $. The problem is lack of ability of Kabul elites to manage conflicting interest of all these countries for benefit of Afghanistan. In old times our politicians were masters in playing all sides. Indeed, world of 90s(najib time) and that of today are not the same, so is the ground realities inside Afghanistan.Originally posted by marwat View Postyou need to have at least your own sustainable economy, organized military and some good weapon until you go for this option. otherwise foreign donor will run away and kabul will fall as it did in past despite of heavy weaponry, scud missile, battle tanks, fighter jets and hundred of helicopters. soviet union was donating 5 to 10 billion dollar every years to sustain Najeeb regime. when money stopped, everything stopped. now you will have an idea war is fought with money not with ego as you are pursuing here.

The Invasion of bajaur by Afghanistan in the 60's made pakistan forced to also consider Afghanistan a potential threat to its integrity and perhaps was the beginning of anti Afghanistan mission in GHQ rawalpindi.Otherwise you should know that Liaqat ali khan and king zahir shah of iran were considering formation of a federation of Iran-Afghanistan-Pakistan.Originally posted by Azmal View Posthu? For Afghanistan, the invasion has changed its future. After the compaign and retreat of Afghan forces from Bajaur,Pakistan blocked Afghanistan access to its ports forcing Afghanistan for alternative routes including USSR and with the passage of time as Afghanistan got closer to USSR,they invaded Afghanistan followed by Pakistan and the west funding of anti soviet forces in Afghanistan. All of this brought Afghanistan to the present state.
As najam sethi said,Blunders can be differentiated from mistakes as unlike mistakes, national blunders can change your entire future.
This is the reason i put the invasion of Bajaur as among the worst blunder ever done in the history of mankind.
There is nationalism and then there’s this burning desire for justice among every Afghan I know and meet. I hope for your sake that it’s all mere nationalism, for the toll that justice demands will not be enough to keep a roof over your head.
The question you need to ponder is peace for sake of peace is not a viable option. What will Afghanistan gain from peace in Pakistan’s terms? No terrorist attack? That too in this critical juncture of transition order across whole region, when groups outside ISI control like ISIL are raising their head in region. If you ask me, until and unless Pakistan is completely burn in the fire they created in Afghans land, both Pashtunistan and Afghanistan (Kabul must burn policy other way around.) there will be no peace. Mark my words.
Burning desire for justice or whatever.Infact you have no idea of the hatred of the people of Pakistan/India for each other but common people can't do much.
Burning Pakistan is your fantasy,Pakistan is supported by some of the most major countries in the world followed by Pakistan own strength and the people unity and even india can't do anything about Pakistan with respect to terrorism(e.g hafeez saeed, dawood ibrahim, lakhwi).I am sure, you should know the difference between Afghnistan and India.
So why waste time when Pakistan is ready to give up the past, why can't you?as earlier said, you have no choice left but to have good relations with pakistan and fight together against terrorism."Seer Speen Wazeer"

Pakistan also tried many times to get back IoK from India. But there are few differences, IoK as name suggest is occupied. People there are demanding freedom from India.Originally posted by Da Bannu Mazdigar View PostThe Invasion of bajaur by Afghanistan in the 60's made pakistan forced to also consider Afghanistan a potential threat to its integrity and perhaps was the beginning of anti Afghanistan mission in GHQ rawalpindi.Otherwise you should know that Liaqat ali khan and king zahir shah of iran were considering formation of a federation of Iran-Afghanistan-Pakistan.

2nd even when it backfired as was the case in 1965, Pakistan succefully defended it self and end result was stalement.
3rd Pakistan was never dependent on India for anything unlike Afghanistan on Pak.
4th Even back then army force difference between Pakistan and Afghanistan was much bigger then between Pakistan and India. In fact Pak airforce was ahead of Indian one, but India had huge advantage in army/navy numbers and resources.
Now there is no point, anyone wishing to burn Pakistan will get his a** nuked. Its very simple equation.Best post in PF history

This is a good sentiment, and I agree with your commentary about the average people on the street being more understanding of eachother... but never never never trust that government - ever. Period.Originally posted by ComradePashtun View PostOne should always think positive. I hope the Pakistani government is sincere. Afghanistan and Pakistan truly are brotherly countries.
I remember when they arrested that Apridi fellow and did a closed door trial - basically they jailed this guy and killed his lawyer.
And whatever one may think of the Sy Hersh original article, sources are springing up left and right providing, in the least, some other corroborators in the intelligence community with his primary source:
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/12/ma...true.html?_r=0
and
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...ate-narrative/
How can one trust now two consecutive governments who have kept this man in prison without a public trial or the ability to at least tell his version of the events in public?
It is a sick psychopathic sociopathic group of people that can take a human being and lock him away indefinitely to ensure that a narrative remains in play.
If they do that to their own citizens.. along with the murder of reporter Hayatullah Khan for exposing such relationships:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hayatul...8journalist%29
Then one would do well to remember that such a government would have no qualms about destroying the lives of just about anyone and anything to maintain the power of a few feudal lords and military brass.
With the release of these stories, the public should be clamoring to the hills to release Dr. Afridi and to potentially pay him reparations for the indignity and loss of 5 years of life. But not word will be said in the West or the East despite this story hitting the internet and airwaves."2 crackheads don't become any better or stronger by sharing the same crack pipe." - Greatest PF quote
