Olomi Pledges Support to Locals During Kunduz Visit

In a meeting with senior security and local officials in Kunduz on Thursday, Minister of Interior Noorolhaq Olomi said insurgents were systematically being defeated in the province by Afghan National Security Forces. He said many of them were fleeing.

The Kunduz security crisis earlier this week sparked Olomi's visit Thursday which saw him take to the streets of the city and speak to residents and business people.

While speaking to them he assured them that the ANSF was under orders to clear the area of insurgents.

"I would like to tell you that the enemies of Afghanistan have always tried to harm the innocent people of Afghanistan. They must know that those serving in the lines of security forces, whether in police or national army, they are ready to sacrifice their lives in order to protect their people and their land. A couple of people who have come out of caves are being forced back to caves by our security forces," he said.

The minister said ANSF operations in Helmand, Ghazni, Zabul, Kunduz and Baghlan province were underway and that anti-government armed groups will be destroyed throughout Afghanistan.

"The duty of security forces is to destroy the anti-government armed groups in Badakhshan, Kunduz, Zabul and Baghlan, the same way they were destroyed in Helmand and Ghazni. ANSF has the duty to destroy those who kill the children of this country. Government will never leave the security forces alone," added Olomi.

Insurgent attacks started in parts of Kunduz last Friday, but by Tuesday reinforcement troops had been sent in and along with air support were systematically targeting and destroying insurgent hideouts. So far, 200 insurgents have been killed, including scores of foreigners. ANSF troops have largely brought the province under control in the past few days.
Good news, but not for those animals and their supportters who despiratly want to see Afghanistan in another civil unrest and war.

Someone should tell that Olumi guy what he was doing when Soviets were killing his people because he was helping them and now he is talking about defending his people. He is a joke.

If the Taliban are being pushed back. The Americans are doing it because the ANA is not capable.

Just as Islam vs communist war was not ours this war too has nothing to do with Afghan nation. The game is for control of whole middle east/central Asia/euroasia, color revolution, Arab spring and Dahesh are just tools for that end not an end to itself. The good news from Afghanistan prospective is war is in transition state. War has moved from south to North, but North Afghanistan too is not an end but it will serve as a jump board to oil and gas-rich Central Asian. I would think there will be another Wazeristan making in Badakhshan-Kunduz area. The question is will Afghanistan foolishly try to prevent and thus prevent the war to move to its actual destination and allow Afghanistan to serve as dog fighting ground like 40 years counting or take the initiative and server as conflict manager and allow $ to flow just as Pakistanis were doing in past 40 years.

lol after Mujahdeen took Kabul, ABC show a scene of a Mujahid firing at a PDPA building while saying "Ma rosa kharab mekonum" not knowing he is actually destroying his own country. lol
Not really fun of bloody communists but let’s face it they are more capable then stone age mujahdeen or Taliban. In addition to ISI and frontier corps Taliban war machine was run by ex-communists—Khalqis just as Massod had Parchamis like Momeen, Baba Jan and Delwar to help him.
In fact if west has given 1/10 of the money they have had spent after 9.11 to Najib, ISI/Mujahdeen would have not even come close in destroying Afghanistan. The way these communist generals like Olumee has have rub the noise of ISI in dirty in Jalalabad war against all odd is known to everyone.

The question should be asked who created the environment that allowed that particular majahid to shoot at the building and no one was there to stop him. But I am pretty sure that plans were created at the building to burn the majahid's village down.

                Khalqis joined Hekmatyar, not Taliban.

Come on, get real. It was the Taliban that defeated the so called Majahadeen and their communists allies that joined them because they could not defeat them(if you cant defeat them, join them scenario), something your communists couldn't do.
The Taliban had the country secured, united, no one was attacking it like Pakistan is today in Kunar, or foreign jets bombing its people like it is today or during the Soviet days and also water wasn't flowing to Iran for free either like it is today.

The communists, the muj leaders and todays leaders which are a combination of both of those are all bought and sold by competing interests groups. Its funny how you tallk about if money was given to this leader or that leader because you fail to realize that when your given money, you have to give something in return.

This was accomplished under the Taliban which is why they needed force to get rid of them and return the great game back to Afghanistan. In essence, they had ended The Great Game.

Why would Pakistan atack its 5th province? Becuase thats what Afghanistan was in those days.

Fighting in the north still happend and outside the big cities a lot of lootings and anarchy took place. Just becuase there were no journalists or foreigners to report this, doesn't mean it did not happen. In those 6 years taliban failed at every front, the only thing that was succefull is the propaganda of peace and stability, that they spread and that you western born brats like to belive in.

It like saing that North Korea people are all well fed and rich. Becuase thats what the central goverment show, but the reality is totaly diffrent.

No. The Taliban refused to sign the Durand line Agreement.

The ISI told the Taliban to hand over Osama to hold on to power and they refused.

The Pakistani soccer team heads were shaved off for wearing shorts in a conservative society.

Also the Taliban is the only entity that is fighting the ISI and the only entity that is trying to defend Kunar.

Have you ever heard of the Pakistani supply lines that has the afghan gov on life support. It is a 5th province as we speak which is why it is bombing the Kunar area with impunity as it wishes. You do realize that many Afghan parliament members are bought by Pakistan and others are bought by Iran and others are bought by Russia which is why the Afghan gov is a joke.

You can never get rid of Pakistani influence because they control supply just like Dost Mohammad, Abdur Rahman, Amanullah khan, Nadir Shah and the ones in between could never get rid of British Influence because they controlled supply. Zahir Shah and Daud muted British/Pakistani influence because they replaced it with Soviet influence. As long as Afghanistan is landlocked, the supplier will influence it.
