Luffy the question is this.
Everyone knows the Pakistan army is evil (except the Turks and Arabs who love them) but what portion of the army is Pashtun? Some say 25% I've even heard some claim 1/3 (which might be nonsense).
If Pashtuns are in such a high percentage in the Pakistani army what are they doing about all these atrocities?
As you yourself have stated there was even a case of a Waziri (or FATA Pakhtun of some sort) bombing his own tribal village in FATA.
If 25% of the army was Sindhi or Mohajir there is no way this would happen in Sindh or Mohajir or at least they would desert.
The Bengalis in 1971 abandoned the army rather than kill their own people. The "Pathans" however have chosen to bomb and kill their own people and have made 3 million Pashtuns refugees.* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

They are not 25%, according to ISPR they are 14.3% in the army and it must be true as when you go to any army barrak, you encounter only 1 in 10 a pashtun. I have spent a decade a Peshawer cantt so i can tell that they are not even 25% let alone one third or 40%.Originally posted by Bengal_Tiger View PostLuffy the question is this.

From what i have understood, there is no Pashtun mindset in officer ranks, they choose them carefully during ISSB. They follow their orders and work more efficiently than any one, even if it means hurting the fellow pashtuns. The Pashtun sipahis of lower rank of lower education have more pashtun traditional mindest but for them it is not different from tribal lashkar expedition, they are mostly from settled areas. The ones in FC, who are mostly from tribal areas, showed great hesitation in initial years in fighting Taliban, many even refusing fight and deserting. It stopped when Taliban didint show mercy to them, called them murtid and beheaded them on almost every occasion. Then FC soldiers realized that they are not your typical tribals but some thing else.History of Pashtuns

I don't know how accurate what you are saying is but you obviously know more than me.Originally posted by Smarty View PostThey are not 25%, according to ISPR they are 14.3% in the army and it must be true as when you go to any army barrak, you encounter only 1 in 10 a pashtun. However aside from the percentage of Pashtuns in the army the ordinary civilian Pashtuns seem to care very little for the suffering of FATA and have embraced Pakistaniyaat.
The point being is you can show all the videos of atrocities by the Pakistan army but most Pashtuns in Pakistan seem to support them (not necessarily their atrocities but the army in general) so nothing will change.
This is a picture of Pakistani Pashtuns from Kohat.

Pakistan's Pashtuns love the Pakistan army except for an enlightened few.* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

When people say 25% are Pashtun they don't just mean the 15% from KPK/FATA/Quetta but also Pashtun origin peoples outside pashtun areas.Originally posted by Smarty View PostThey are not 25%, according to ISPR they are 14.3% in the army and it must be true as when you go to any army barrak, you encounter only 1 in 10 a pashtun. The Niazis,Durranis,Kasuris,Tareens,Lodhis,Rokhris,Tan olis,Burkis,Multanis etc and in AJK the kakezais and sadozais are included, so pure pashtuns are only 15% but Pashtun descended people from Punjab,AJK and maybe Muhajir Pathans are included in the 25-30%.
so it isn't far off."I bow to no one, except ALLAH. I dont bow to punjabay, do not bow to kabulay and afghanay, do not bow to faujay and mullay, do not bow to asfandyarwalay and petty khanays...i am traitor to all of them." - Smartay

You can say that, but in army only Pashto speakers are counted as Pashtuns. A.K.Niazi, or Ayub Khan Tareen never acted or introduced themselves as Pashtuns. General Aziz Khan (rtd) is Sudhan/Sadozai from Kashmir, did you ever get the impression that he has any thing to do with pashtuns?Originally posted by tripledouble View PostWhen people say 25% are Pashtun they don't just mean the 15% from KPK/FATA/Quetta but also Pashtun origin peoples outside pashtun areas.

True only pashto speakers are counted as real, but the others are also pashtun at least by origin so that raises the %ageOriginally posted by Smarty View PostYou can say that, but in army only Pashto speakers are counted as Pashtuns. As for sadozai, that is just one pic, i know u don't like them but i've seen irl and they are tough people and claim pashtun origins and not all look like him
also, there are kakezais living in ajk"I bow to no one, except ALLAH. I dont bow to punjabay, do not bow to kabulay and afghanay, do not bow to faujay and mullay, do not bow to asfandyarwalay and petty khanays...i am traitor to all of them." - Smartay

I dont like Sadozais? were you not the one who refused to accept them as descendents of Afghans and insisted that they are converts from Hindu Brahman?Originally posted by tripledouble View PostTrue only pashto speakers are counted as real, but the others are also pashtun at least by origin so that raises the %age

It is non-sense and utterly untrue that Pashtuns are 25%. These figures are reported to inflate Pashtuns share and conceal Punjabi over-representation in the army. In reality Pashtuns are not more than 10% of Paki army.
And Niazis, Lodhis, etc. are no longer Pashtuns.
