You are comparing ANA a joke of an army who just exsist for couple of years to your ISI. Like sirioulsy, where do you think ANA can get all the money? They can barely buy uniforms for their own soldiers. See this is one of those brainwashing that Pakistan does to its own people, you really need to open your eyes.

Didn't the Iranian and Pakistani governments both welcome the occupation?

They welcomed intervention, but both tought espeicially Iran that US invasion would be a short war. They do not want any US bases in Afghanistan.

Regarding the foreign forces, aren't they also responsible for serious human rights abuses (drone strikes, nightraids, the torture at Bagram airbase and other CIA sites, etc.) Even Karzai spoke out against them at the end of his term.
Foreigners are reponsible for that but also taliban do the same thing, so for the ordinary people it was just a question of choosing between evil and lesser evil.

Also, wasn't America the same country that created the Taliban and similar elements, along with the ISI and Saudi Arabia? Even now, the Americans are holding secret negotiations with the Taliban, against the wishes of the Afghan government.
Secret talks or no talks, Afghanistan did not want to end like Iraq, Iraq refused simmilar agreement with US and US punished them with IS. Afghans know about taliban is a creation of US. But like I said before they had to choose this or another civil war.

America is also very close to the Pakistani establishment. They are the biggest financial supporters of the Pakistani military, giving them billions of dollars since 9/11. Do you remember when the people in Kunar were bombed by the Pakistani army? American diplomats didn't really do anything.

How do these facts fit into the equation? Why are Afghan Pashtuns counting on the same people who destroyed their country to protect them?
US did not do anything becuase Afghanistan did not sign BSA, Now Afghanistan signed it, do you see Pakistan bombing Kunar?

Again, all of these are serious questions, because I really am curious about the attitudes of Pashtuns west of the Durand Line. I'm not a supporter of the murderous Pakistani state at all (you can read my post history to confirm that).
It all boils down to that Afghans feelt betraid by Pakistan and especially by Pakistany PAhstuns becuase they knew if US would stop helping, Pakistan would give enormous amoun of money and suply to talib to finish the current goverment, so if pakistan was a honest country who would not send terrorist Afghans would not sign BSA.

But by not signing BSA, US told Afghans that they wuold stop all aid and other countries would also stop helping, Afghans did not want the 90s all over again, so they signed it. If we had other choice we would never agree, but there was no any choice. So thats why we signed it.
I and many Afghans know what US does and what it wants and how they sponcored taliban, but we are not in any position to stand against a super power who not only controls Afghanistan bu also its neighbours.

ANA is getting its finest armory and weapons from west...now its turning something its masters want. They are proxies like taliban but given decent name and uniform.
They are trsined in australia ...by western soldiers...i mean crusaders serving them.I ve opened my eyes about puppet regimes long before ....i dont worship armies or borders or govts or politicians or sold out religious scholars.
Though i do believe in pacts or treaties that serve somehow as barriers fir works of masterminds which they even detest at sime point...
If afghans need ANA so does isi needed by pak...thats the point i see ...Borders should be closed completely...

There are many ways to look at it, but tbh the occupation has not been as bad for us in general if you take in consideration the situation we were in.

                  1. If you look at the Taliban regime from 1995-2001 there was absolutely no progress in Afghanistan. A salafism form of Islam was forced upon us which was and is not practical at this age. You can mention all the bad horrific things the Americans have done, but those Taliban were not much better. Not only did they force people to live in a specific manner and if you refused the punishment was severe. You cannot listen to music, You cannot watch films, you were forced to have long beard, a specific hair cut all these silly rules while more important issues where not solved. I remember once around 2000 we were going to Kunar from Jalalabad when our driver was stopped and his head was shaved because apparently his haircut was Unislamic.

Women where discriminated, their rights were violated and not allowed to get educated. The country was filled with Arab wahabis and Porkistan literally controlled our foreign policy. Further more they destroyed cultural haritage including the Buddha's because it was unislamic according to those animals.

Not to mention their slaughter of Hazaras just because they were following Shia Islam. How can we Pashtun accept and be proud of this?

                  2. The period before the Taliban was even worse. All warlords fighting against each other and killing and looting innocent people in the process.

                  3. No one likes their country to be invaded, but at least we now know which situation we are in. We know the leaders. Mullah Omar did not even show his face

                  4. There has been much development in Afghanistan since 2001 which would not have been possible without foreign countries help.

                  5. The Afghan government cannot pay the salary of the army without BSA.

                  6. The Afghan Government is not perfect and it consist of many warlords, but with time it will change. You cannot build Rome in a one day. It takes time.

                  7. "We are Pashtun, brave people, strong people, we don't need anyone, we can defeat anyone". This mentality worked in Ahmad Shah Abdali time when you could see your enemy and both sides would bring their force to the battlefield and they would fight it out. Now it's time of politics and you need strong allies. Especially when you have a snake like Pakistan as you neighbor who would do anything to keep you in war and stop you from progress.

                  8. I am hopeful. We have to defeat the Evil Talibans and then fight corruption and remove the warlords and we are on the right track. We are a country of barely 35 million people and there is enough natural resources that can help develop the country. Compare that to Pakistan, India and Bangladesh all over populated countries, so the task of becoming a decent society is not a huge as one would think.

kunar1990, thanks for your thoughtful response, wrora. Though I disagree with some of your conclusions, you have actually made an effort to answer my question, and you did bring up a lot of valid points. I understand the sentiment you've described.

PAKISTAN HAS NO RIGHT TO EXPEL afghans from pashtunkhwa.
The punjabis have no right to do this.
They can not make fool of the world.
The punjabi establishment wants pashtuns to fight eachothers.
                              This idea will not work.
Punjoos get out of our land.
pashtuns of both side should come out and protest against punjabi criminal army and isi.

It is a pressure tactic that Pakistan is using against the Afghan govt. Nothing will happen in the end. As for the fence, the Berlen Wall was stronger than this and the USSR army was mightier than the Paki army. This fence etc. cannot stand the rigor of time.

But why not shift the remaining Afghans once for all to deny Pakis leverage and pressure tactic.
