We realise that political solution is a must for our problem and we could not solve it other way, but this has to be on our terms, on the terms of majority of the Afghan population which is the absolute majority of Pashtuns and others. Not the Talibs and their supporters.
Nwaz sharif is sincere because he's being forced by the opposition leader Imran khan, could also be by Raheel sharif.Otherwise he's a product of Dictator Zia ul haq,

Yes,trust building will require time, though better late than never,i hope it builds up and we defeat talibs

I think Pakistan has lost a golden opportunity by sincerely giving Afghans hand of friendship in a time when they needed and deserved it the most in their history. This would have gone a long long long way and for eternal and they would have felt beholden to this gratitude for ever. It is not late but the memory will stick around for a long time. We still love the people. You policy makters are stupid and short-sighted and acted as their Angreez masters. Da Banu Mazdigara remember my words, Taliban even once other Afghans will reconcile with will never be your best friends, they and you just mutually need each other - the double standards they themselves have been subject to they know and realise this better than ISI and co does, with some grudges may be too.

Also, no matter what the policy of ISI and co, we are determined to win this war and god willing Afghanistan will prevail - Pakistan should chose the time and side.

Imran Khan is an ISI puppet and following their line and is part of their game. Nawaz Sharif is not.

A lost opportunity i agree.ofcourse Pakistan and Afghanistan indeed can't become close friends as we will see each other with suspicious always.though it is not limited to the Pakistan recognization of talibs govt but dates back to the invasion of bajaur by Afghanistan.

You see,Pakistani leaders believed that muslims are brothers and can't hate each other. This false perception has lead Pakistan to this state, otherwise until the late 60's,Pakistan was to be considered as the bright light of the muslim world.

You see Pakistani military has played all sort of dirty games to save Pakistan and to make it stronger. The military worship Pakistan

Well this was only believed upto 2007-08,at the end of the day.Nawaz sharif purchased Ex DG ISI Shuja Pasha and Chief Justice of supreme court to rig the elections.

if Imran khan indeed was supported by ISI,he would had now been the PM not the nawaz sharif

Haha nice try for equating to an army of Islam or some sort. I disagree, most of top echelon are no different than any other professional non-Islamic army which loves whisky which is non of my business. If Afghanistan really wanted to threaten Pakistan it could have done so and at best during Pakistan-India war. We didn't. I don't pick bone with you for being loyal to your army, it is your right and you are probably associated with it. I would guess I know when you lie and propagate to its benifit and you duck and weave not so nice in your debates.

I never said Pakistan is the army of Islam.I am not stupid of those standard of Pakistan equating it with Islam.

Pakistan is a distinct identity apart from Islam. The people are its identity.

What should Pakistan policy be in relation to Afghan Taliban, and what practical steps should it take as confidence building measures with Afghanistan, Da Banu Mazdigara?

I don't know why people associate Pakistan army with Islam when it is the most secular organization of Pakistan, even after Zia ul haq era,it had remained Secular.

Initial Step should be operation against Haqqani and punjabi talibans(Operation against Hafiz gul bahadur group is already launched).

Formation of a network center between ANA and PA and ocassional raids on terrorist surrounding the border.

offer of Ormara to Afghanistan to build a port for Afghanistan exclusively

                          Joint military training

Refugee status should be removed,All refugees in Paksitan to be declared citizen of Pakistan and visa should be introduced across borders from both countries

rest of the steps should be related to economy

Strict border checking with no entry to any spy or suicide bomber ..no entry for suspicious individuals. To each their own territory. Those that wanna stay in afg should stay there and those to chose to live in pak ca live there. The only solution to black water mercenaries is that they should be pushed back to where they ve come from.To their masters.May Allah avert those mercenaries against their masters amin.

With time if wounds heal on both sides...they may build confidence...but histories show it takes decades to centuries even.

Pakistan is simply digging it's own grave, if it doesn't end the support to all terrorism. Even countries like Saudi Arabia are now fighting terrorism openly, yet pakistan is sticking to it's old policies. It must be because of those old stubborn minded ISI generals. They try to brainwash pakistani public with their false propaganda
