Imran's lovelies
Bowling maidens over: The love life of cricket superstar Imran Khan
Vijay Rana in London with Zahid Hussain in Pakistan June 15, 1995 | UPDATED 12:55 IST

Bowling maiden overs and bowling maidens over seem to have been Imran Khan's philosophy. Indeed, even when he wasn't winning at Lords, he was scoring at Tramps, a London discotheque referred to as his "living room".

Emma SergeantPainter Emma Sergeant, his only true love, met him in 1982 and was soon accompanying him everywhere, from hunting trips in Peshawar to cricket tours in Australia.
But life in conservative Pakistan frightened her and they drifted apart. Meanwhile, Imran was busy. This time with Lulu Blacker, who still maintains what she calls a platonic relationship with Imran.

Lulu Backer and Ana-Luisa White Susannah Constantine - Viscount Linley's former girlfriend - also did the Pakistan tour, and even studied cricket seriously. She was once moved enough to even run onto the pitch with Pakistani supporters, when Imran's team beat England at the Oval in 1992. It was obviously not enough.

Susannah ConstantineOther relationships were catching media attention too, the gossip including actresses Stephanie Beacham and Goldie Hawn, ex-model Marie Helvin, Lady Liza Campbell, TV presenter Anastasia Cooke and Lord Rothschild's daughter Hanna.
Not every courtship was serious, Imran making it clear that living: in Pakistan was the only route to a permanent relationship. Socialite Ana-Luisa White almost got that far, ready to convert to Islam, though why she took the name of Sita, a Hindu goddess, is a trifle confusing.

Jemima GoldsmithThe affair waned when White became pregnant, though she claims her daughter Tirian Jade, born in June 1992, was fathered by Imran. She still keeps a framed picture of him on her mantlepiece.

Kristiane Backer, the German-born MTV host, came even closer, only to be unceremoniously dumped for Jemima Goldsmith, the only one willing to go wherever the Khan took her. Twenty-one she may be, but she knows her man well.
For she has made it sufficiently plain that none of her husband's former girlfriends will be invited to attend the big party she has planned later in June. Caging the Lion, she knows, is the only way.

In Pakistan, in some quarters, he is called "zani khan" or "adulterous khan" for his adulterous inclinations. In Pashto, they say, "adatha bala pa bala naa wari". Someone very close to him told me he drinks as well as runs affairs with women secretly.

Not only this, IK made Jamima Khan whom he later married pregnant before engagement.
At her palatial wisteria-covered, wrought-iron-gated and cherub-decorated home, Ormeley Lodge, in Richmond, Surrey, Miss Goldsmith, an English student at Bristol university, made a less portentous statement to a waiting throng of reporters. Displaying her chunky half-inch-wide gold engagement ring featuring diamonds, sapphires and rubies, she smiled and said: "I'm very happy."

Later her mother, Lady Annabel Goldsmith, smiled and said: "I'm thrilled."

Then soon afterwards, a spokesman for Sir James came out of the house, unsmiling, to deny rumours that Jemima was pregnant. "It's absolute rubbish," he said.

Jammima Khan herself was the product of illicit relation.
Jemima Goldsmith was the first child of the illicit affair between Sir James and Lady Annabel Birley, when he was still married to his French secretary Ginette. Sir James and Lady Annabel - she was the younger daughter of the Marquess of Londonderry - married in 1978 when Jemima was four.

IT MAY be a surprising match, but yesterday Imran Khan, 42-year- old former Pakistani cricket captain and reborn Islamic politician, and Jemima Goldsmith, 21-year-old part-Jewish daughter of the millionaire financier Sir James Goldsmith, confirmed they were to be married and announced that they saw eye to eye.

          Khan Artist
Imran Khan, the man who sparked the Newsweek riots: Islamist politician by day, London playboy by night.

12:00 AM, MAY 31, 2005 • BY JAI SINGH AND JAMES FORSYTH

"KHAN EMBODIES THE HYPOCRISY of Muslim elites who inveigh against the West by day and enjoy its pleasures by night. His fame in Pakistan comes from cricket not politics: Khan is the best cricketer Pakistan has ever produced. But in London many remember him as an even greater playboy. Throughout the 1980s Khan was linked to a string of beautiful women. In 1988 he told Australia's Sunday Mail, "Pakistan society encourages marriage. There, I lead a very steady, comfortable life. Here, it is more exciting. The pace is faster. Because of the nightclubs and parties, it is a very good place to be single." But as his cricket career wound down and he began to develop political ambitions, Khan became more reticent about his lifestyle. In 1992 when a London Evening Standard reporter asked him if he found his conquests fulfilling he turned bashful: "Er, by answering that question I put myself in a difficult position because this will get quoted in Pakistan. And in Pakistan, the mere fact that you admit you're having affairs upsets a lot of people's sensitivities. I respect my own culture and a lot of young people look up to me. It's a big responsibility for me not to make these admissions in public. Everyone knows I'm a single man and a normal man. But there's no need to stick it down their throats." His ex-girlfriends were less discreet, though. One observed to the Times, that same year, that Imran "juggled his girlfriends extremely elegantly . . . and he likes mangoes."

"Even his political allies find Khan's duplicity hard to take. In 2002 one of his party leaders remarked: "Even we are finding it difficult to figure out the real Imran. He dons the shalwar-kameez and preaches desi and religious values while in Pakistan, but transforms himself completely while rubbing shoulders with the elite in Britain and elsewhere in the West." Khan claims that his marriage proved he wasn't a politician but his divorce and his recent demagoguery show that he now is one, albeit one of the worst sort."

Many Peshawarites quit PTI, block GT Road over sackings

            Bureau Report
            Published May 06, 2014 06:19am

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf office-bearers in 10 union councils of the provincial capital on Monday announced resignation from their offices to protest the recent sacking of Yaseen Khalil as adviser to the chief minister.

Also in the day, some PTI activists took out a rally and blocked GT Road near the Lahore Bus Terminal against the removal of Shaukat Yousufzai as provincial minister.

Former nazim Gul Bashar Khalil told reporters at the Peshawar Press Club that the PTI workers had set the May 4 deadline for the reinstatement of Yaseen Khalil as adviser to the chief minister but neither the PTI leadership nor the provincial government heeded it forcing them to come onto the streets.

He said PTI Union Council Tehkal-II unit president Malik Shahzad Khan, Union Council 40 Tehkal Bala president Imadul Haq, Union Council 37 Shaheen Town president Asif Khan, Union Council 42 Malakander president Akhtar Gul, Union Council Hayatabad-I president Adnan, Union

Council Hayatabad-II president Farid Khan, Union Council 36 University Town and Union Council Hassan Ghari-II president Azam Khan along with all other office-bearers in their respective areas had resigned.

“We will set up a hunger strike camp outside the Town police station for indefinite period to press for our demands,” Mr Bashar said.

Meanwhile, PTI activists and sympathisers staged a rally on GT Road near the Lahore Bus Terminal before blocking it for sometime to protest the sacking of Shaukat Ali Yousufzai as minister.

The protesters led by Zahir Shah, Rasool Shah, Jalil Safi, Waheedur Rehman and Malik Wajid held banners and placards inscribed with slogans for the reinstatement of Yousufzai.

Shouting slogans against Jehangir Tareen, they alleged that the PTI central leader had conspired against the minister after his refusal to meet the former’s unfair demands.

They demanded that PTI chairman Imran Khan step in and save the party in the province.

The speakers called for strict action against those ‘plundering the province’s resources with both hands.’

They said the people had voted PTI to power in the province for bringing about a real positive change in the system of governance but that hadn’t happened due to the dishonesty of ‘certain people in the party’.

The protesters later dispersed saying they would come onto the streets against if the minister wasn’t restored.

            1. The PTI has had a year in power and has been praised by some Pashtuns for some of its policies but is also facing criticism from others including the supporters mentioned above who cite corruption and ineffective governance.

The novelty of PTI administration will wear off as it is already wearing off after just one year.

Imran Khan's claim that he will build 350 small dams may come back to haunt him as an example of his dishonesty/insincerity and unreliability, failure to deliver.

Imran Khan, who claims he will build 350 dams in 5 years.

            2. On a more important note Pashtuns of Pakistan are ironically more sincerely committed to the concept of Pakistan than any other ethnic group in the country despite being the ones slaughtered in their thousands in the past few years (the majority of the 50-60,000 dead Pakistanis killed are Pashtuns).

a: In the past three elections Pashtuns have voted for the following three in the following order

i: "Islamic" fundamentalists of the MMA (dominated by a pro-Taliban party, the JUI)

ii: Secular liberal nationalists (including some members said to have an aversion to religion).

            iii: Pakistani nationalist, PTI.

Are Pashtuns confused? Are they flip-flopping?

Sindhis always vote for the PPP (Sindhi run party), Punjabis for the PML-N (Punjabi nationalists) and Mohajirs for the MQM (Mohajir nationalists).

Pashtuns electoral loyalty is to no one.

For me this is not a sign of confusion but a sign of a: sincerity b: pragmatism and focus on performance as opposed to blind ethnic loyalty and solidarity.

The irony is that whilst Sindhis, Punjabis and Mohajirs will vote out of ethnic solidarity for their ethnic nationalist parties the Pashtuns more than anyone else in the federation truly believe in putting "Pakistan" above ethnicity and have voted for an ostensibly pan-Pakistan party.

This is though Pashtuns are being killed in large numbers and not these other ethnic groups.

            - If Pakistan doesn't collapse by 2018 (next election year) then the question is who will Pashtuns then vote for? They will have tried the "Islamists", ethnic nationalists, Pakistani nationalists.

What other option is out there?

PTI has only been in power for 11 months, which isn't enough time, they need stability, if the people of Bangladesh can vote for Sheikh hasina(a failed leader) 3 times, i see no reason why PTI deserves to control the government for atleast one term.

Imran Khan is the lesser of all the Evils in Pakistan, he's better than Nawaz,Zardari,Altaf Hussain, religious parties and leaders of the ANP(they've had their chance).

Imran Khan's claim that he will build 350 small dams may come back to haunt him as an example of his dishonesty/insincerity and unreliability, failure to deliver.
It only been 11 months, let them complete their first term then we can judge them, and Imran Khan has a record of getting things done e.g Shaukat Khanum,Namal college, the 2nd largest party in Pakistan in just 17 years, and winning the cricket world cup against all odds(it might be only a sporting event but it says a lot about his never-say-die attitude).

did you deliberately pick out the swarthiest pic of Imran Khan just to make him look bad?!

Are Pashtuns confused? Are they flip-flopping?

Sindhis always vote for the PPP (Sindhi run party), Punjabis for the PML-N (Punjabi nationalists) and Mohajirs for the MQM (Mohajir nationalists).
That's not entirely true, i have Sindhi friends that voted for PTI in Karachi and hyderabad but their votes weren't really counted, and they were part of the educated class that doesn't care about ethnicity but the greater good of the country at large.

The PPP isn't really Sindhi-run because Gilani is a Seraiki and some prominent members of PPP are Muhajirs and Punjabis as well Baloch.

PMLN is not a Punjabi nationalist party because their leader is not even a real Punjabi and they don't promote Punjabi culture or language, otherwise Punjabi would be the national langauge.

PTI won the second most seats in Punjab so it's not like Punjabis didn't vote for them, in fact the first post-election protests by PTI were geld in Lahore(where my punjabi friends attended them).

Not all Muhajirs voted for MQM in fact most like many of my friends and people i know voted for PTI, that's why PTI won NA 250 the biggest constituency in Karachi; PTI a couple more seats in Karachi and they could have won more but the MQM rigged the elections.

another thing you need to understand is that not all Muhajirs live in Karachi, in fact many settled in Punjab and interior Sindh and assimilated into the local culture; the Punjab-Muhajirs i know voted for PTI and the Sindhi-Muhajirs voted for PPP while some voted for MQM.

Pashtuns electoral loyalty is to no one.
That's a good thing, that means their smart and independent, i wish more people in Pakistan were like that.

The irony is that whilst Sindhis, Punjabis and Mohajirs will vote out of ethnic solidarity for their ethnic nationalist parties
              That's not an accurate observation.

the Pashtuns more than anyone else in the federation truly believe in putting "Pakistan" above ethnicity and have voted for an ostensibly pan-Pakistan party.
This actually the first time otherwise the ANP were in power in KPK and the Pashtuns of Balochistan vote for PkMap last year, the only reason PTI managed to win KPK was because Imran Khan is of Pashtun origin and many Pashtuns admire him for accomplishments on the cricket field as well his stance on the American war on terror.

This is though Pashtuns are being killed in large numbers and not these other ethnic groups.
Idk how true that is, there was a bomb blast in Islamabad just a few weeks ago and before that a court was attacked, there was bomb blast last friday outside a sunni mosque in karachi and there are attacks on Shias in Karachi as well attacks on Shia Hazaras, there are also terrorist attacks in markets in Karachi, one of my friend's lost his family members in a bomb blast in karachis hyderi market 2 years ago, and there were MANY terrorist attacks in Karachi, there have also been attacks in Lahore though not many since 2010, in fact in 2008 and 2009 Lahore was more dangerous than karachi or even Peshawar.

              - If Pakistan doesn't collapse by 2018 (next election year) then the question is who will Pashtuns then vote for? They will have tried the "Islamists", ethnic nationalists, Pakistani nationalists.
That won't happen, and i'm being realistic; 4 years is too little time, maybe 40 years or even 100 years.

The people of KP are the only ones who want real change since they are the province that votes a different party into power constantly while Sindh(PPP) and Punjab(ML) votes for the same party every time elections are held.

Haha everyone hating on the personal life of Imran Khan.. guys, we don't have Bacha Khan anymore, we have to live with what we have. Forget his personal life.. HE IS MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN KPK. Maybe not at the rate we expected or the rate we were promised but give him a damn chance. There is hardly a politician in all of Pakistan that is worth anything.. wait a bit before you tear him apart. People calling him Punjabi Khan.. you need to realize he is very proud of his 100% pashtun heritage and wants to make a difference for his people in KPK, lay off him and atleast give him time.. he is better than most of his opponents.

Bengal_Tiger Imran Khan said he would build 350 small dams which is possible to build over 5 years, though he would need the federal gov to cooperate, because that's where they will get the funds from and they need the law and order situation to normalize.

Laos is building 10 large dams over 5 years; you don't seem really bright.

Because we have many, looser from other countries want divide Pashtuns and 2 face low life creeps here thinking a Pashtun is just a ethnic name that can be American, European, Russian, Pakistani/Indian, etc. The fact stands. Pashtun is a nationality as well as ethnicity, you can only change nationality if you mix race or change your personality, culture, language, traditions and loyalty. We know many half breeds here who they are, like Revolution~ and this banu danu kuni, who gets orgasm towards other men etc. Some warlord loving tajiks. Then we have good people like bengal_tiger who give us information from his corners.

But why discuss pakis in right term on political forum is because they are very dangerous, back stabbing people, they send suicide attacks on Pashtuns, and holding majority of Pashtun lands as hostage, they are a product of English tactics to divide our corner of the world, and they follow british/nato orders. + their poor people has been slaves for majority of powers in the region, so they can't be trusted easily, with right sum of money majority of them would change sides and even sell their women, sadly this culture has come to Afghanistan as well, many afghans have similar waataan foroshi mindset today. But hopefully we can be good neighbours so both our countries can prosper to better days.
