What if a run-off occurs and the 6 remaining candidates throw their backing to Ghani?
My assumption then is that the intelligence agencies and others will convince Abdullah to once again back off like they did in 2009.
The remaining will back Ghnai if Ghani promises some power to them, but Ghani clearly said that there would be no power sharing, so the chance is small that they will back him.....
The only hope is now that nobody will get more than 50% and in the second round it will be Ghani against Abdullah than there is a chance that Ghani can win, if the people who voted for Rassould and others will go after Ghani....
But I don't really have high hopes.... This is so frustrating, if Ghani don't win Afghanistan misses a big chance of becoming a normal and stabel country.
i think everybody cheat
just show me one proper politician
pashtuns will not accept a non-pashtun president
if 2xabdullah is elected there will be a war
but i don't get it
can you explain me khostai how can pashtuns join taliban i thought they are fed up with taliban?
They are fed up with Taliban but they are also fed up with NA and Tajik fascism, I am not against Abdullah becuase he is a Tajik, I am against him becuase he is a corrupt politican who will apoint Pansjeries to all high places and you will have the same **** as with Karzai, rampant corruption and a country that is going no where. And the only force that can end this mess will be Taliban, Pashtuns don't have any other choice.
And to be honest Ghani also speaks Dari and PAshtu the same amount under his rule PAshtu will not get a special treatment or Dari is going to be eradicated, he will not do that, what he will do is end the NA corrupt mafia govermnet so that people finaly can live a normal live and not in a corrupt mafia world what is now Afghanistan.

sorry what is na? national army?
how will he "remove" corrupt people from their position? they don't want to got and will do everything to keep their position!
Northern Alliance militia, the ganga of massoud Abdullah and others....
As a precedent he will have the authotity and power. How does other countries end corruption? He will do it step by step.
step by step that is clear for me too
but when people in their position know what he wants to do they will try to do everything that ghani will not get this kind of power
The Rasul votes will probably go to Ghani in a runoff. The other candidates votes are probably up for grabs.
I assume that this was Karzai's plan from the beginning. Having his candidate take the southern provinces to split the Pashtun votes in order to make Ghani compromise power with his circle in order to win.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

Salam,
Do you seriously believe that intelligence agencies and others I would assume you are referring to foreigners convinced him to not contest in the second round?
Im thinking it was impossible for to win against Karzai in the re-run, whether he was convinced or not Karzai was denied the legitimacy.
Imagine Afghanistan under Mr. Abdullah what are your thoughts and what do you forsee under him for the five years?

Good hearing from you I hope you are well.
Wasalaam
I wasn't speaking in his defense - it was my presumption - perhaps a false one. Maybe he knew he could not win then and that is why he sat out.
It seems to me that
1) Foreign forces do not want Khostai style thinking to even threaten to occur. I am referring to his commentary above about being depressed his candidate was possibly to lose and then banking on the insurgency for Pashtun ascendency.
2) I would assume that this would be of interest to foreign intelligence services:
"At least in the Pashtun province of Zabul, the percentage of Pashtuns in the ANA has now been reduced to a minimum. In Zabul province, U.S. officers embedded in one of the kandaks (battalions) reported earlier this year that they believed only about five percent of the troops in the entire brigade are Pashtuns, according to a report by Army Times correspondent Sean D. Naylor published in the Armed Forces Journal last July.
The brigade commander in Zabul is a Tajik.
Meanwhile, Tajiks have maintained a firm grip on the command structure of the ANA. . Marshall Fahim put commanders from the Tajik-controlled Northern Alliance in key positions within the Ministry of Defence as well as the ANA command."
What this means is that it is essential to keep those with a similar mind as Khostai at bay by at least nominally keeping a Pashtun mask over all of this and keep the Presidency in the hands of a Pashtun to pacify the restive south.
And despite his father, Abdullah Abdullah has much more affinity with his mother's sector and grouping and even provinces in the north.
3) I am basing my assumptions above on the history of our people - Amanullah was easily able to gather Wazir Mahsud and Ghilzai resistance to unseat Bachaay Saqo- and despite it being a long time - I would imagine that there is a concern about such sentiments being played on again.
4) Quiet frankly I do not know what to expect from Abdullah Abdullah. I know his affiliations and I know he was in with the Panjshiri group - I am also not sure what promises he has made to his vice presidential picks and how they might influence his policies.

Otherwise, I don't know what to say regarding what the next 5 years would bring...
Its sort of irrelevent in that democratic governance demands adherence to a fair result.
If Abdullah Abdullah wins and the observers and others conclude it was fairly done - then this is the government that those who accept the current government will have to deal with.
I am not sure how such a situation where a Pashtun (or in the least a Pashtun that adheres to Pashto and is not a Parsiwaan) is president could be ensured into perpetuity... unless some sort of arrangement is codified.
Some arguments might be made that southern and Pashtun predominant provinces had a harder time getting out the vote - but that is just now - what about in the future? What if in the coming decades a more war ravaged and ISAF decimated south has to deal with the fact that others might be progressing through the deals that they cut and the advances they make by collaborating with outsiders - and they lose governmental dominance?
Will our fellow Afghans prove that they are more morally consistent than the state next door that overturned a fair election in which Mujib ur Rahman (an ethnic Bengali) won in order to perpetuate ethnic dominance? Or will there be friction?
Personally, as I said I think lots of folks that want to wean Afghanistan towards stability and make the occupation efforts look credible want Ghani in.

Let me ask you another question. It seems that some Pakistanis would much prefer if Abdullah wins, what sense of purpose and opportunities him winning does provide to them?
Can any one like Bostan please highlight the ethnic approach of Abdullah Abdullah? Does he call himself a pure Tajik or a Pashtun or a mixed one? Does he speaks Pashto in Kabul? In the debates on TV or other outlets of media, does he also speak Pashto? Has he ever talked of the promotion of Pashto in official circles?
