  • Afridi tribe seeks freedom from Pakistan

    Afridi Elders in Nangarhar, Afghanistan

I'm not sure if this has been posted yet, but elders from the Afridi tribe on the Pakistani side of the border came across to Afghanistan, Nangarhar specifically, and said to the government, "We love our homeland Afghanistan and want to be annexed with it" a while ago (around May, 2013).

I am not necessarily an advocate for Loy Afghanistan, as I see that the people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, etc. have the right to self-determinism, and if they wish to remain with Pakistan then so be it, but nonetheless I found this article rather interesting, and I have stumbled on many other articles and videos in which Pashtuns in Pakistan are victims of discrimination, and violent prejudice to boot.

Furthermore, I know of few Pashtuns living in my area who are from Balochistan and FATA and they consider themselves Afghan. Nonetheless, I also know a few Pashtuns who view themselves as Pakistani— I wonder why and how this division amongst the Pashtuns of Pakistan has occurred?

Keep in mind, although I do not know which perspective is in great number amongst the Pashtuns residing in Pakistan, if the latter is how most wish to be seen, I do not take offense to it, for I believe all people have the right to self-determinism as previously mentioned.

    Here's the article: http://www.pajhwok.com/en/2013/05/26...eedom-pakistan

Under Democracy we respect the mandate of Every single tribe/ethnicity.

But the matter of concern is why is this reported only in Afghanistan media?Or somehow the other sources also mention the courtesy of the above source.

I could have agreed with the article if it would have mentioned tribes such as from Waziristan. But afridi?i doubt.

Tribes like Afridi,Marwat, kundi, gandupur, bhttiani, banusi,Dawar ,yousufzai and related tribe are as much patriotic Pakistani by majority as much a Punjabi from lahore can be.

Further more tribes like Marwat,Kundi and gandapur probably are more patriotic than even the punjabi or sindhi in lahore and karahi/Hyderabad

      If they want freedom then:

If that is their wish, then let them be free.

Dont be misled by such news and articles.... Tribal malaks are playing politics, they were paid handsomely by governament since 1947 , so they were happy and loyal...now that army and taliban have taken over FATA, their role and importance has gone. Its natural that some of them would try to gain favours from Afghan governament...they would immediately come back to the lap of pakistan once peace is restored in their area and their historical role is regained.

BS. Afridis are sticking with Pakistan due to economic interests, they care less about jinah, iqbal or your fcking two nation theory.....
It seems you have not interacted with punjabis. Their notion of patriotism start and end with pakistan, they attach holiness to pakistan and are actually worshiping it. After all it is the first time (and probably last) that they are ruling such a large territory, they are escatic and would sacrifice any thing to protect their rule and supremacy i.e they would even drop nukes on your waziristan and bannu if they have to.
