You seem to fail understanding the procedure: these talks are not a negotiation between ttp and gov.

Ttp is not talking part because they distrust the gov. Instead they selected men who are in favor of peace to present their demands and who are able to understand and explain why those demands make sense.
but you have already said that their nominees are government stooges so what is the ttp strategy here? make their pro government stooge nominees feel as stupid as possible while they are negotiating on their behalf after these attacks embarrass them and their position?

their conservative constituency have no bearing on any possible agreement.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

A gov is not an unitary actor. It consists of all sorts of people.

Actually TTP realized that decision of military operation was already taken by military with consent of governament, they are not serious in the peace talks from the begining.
ISI is not in favour of talks and are extrajudicially killing taliban in the police custody provoking intolerant taliban to attack police.
I dont know what kind of islam TTP is following, they talk about revenge while there is qisas in islam.

Peace talks serves many causes. One of them is to appeal to the masses. There are millions of Pakistanis who disagree with TTP and dislike them. But they do have the same vision for an Islamic society.

So selecting people like Sami and Imran is to appeal to sami and imrans constituency.

You may think ttp are idiots. They have people with degrees in political science and economics among them.

They are probably more informed and better educated than both of us.

Maybe they knew about the operations even before the talks. Maybe they used the peace talks as a political scoop against their opponents.

              Peace Talks Suspended in Pakistan

Government Talks With Taliban Suspended After Militants Claim to Have Killed 23

              By Saeed Shah and
              Safdar Dawar

              Feb. 17, 2014 12:04 p.m. ET
Tentative peace talks between Pakistan's government and the Pakistan Taliban were suspended by the government-appointed negotiation committee on Monday, after the militants claimed to have killed 23 paramilitary soldiers.

The indirect talks, which had aimed in the first instance to broker a cease fire, have been rocked by a series of attacks by the Pakistani Taliban.
Should negotiations fail, Pakistan is expected to launch an army operation against the militants' biggest sanctuary of North Waziristan, part of the tribal areas that run along the northwest border with Afghanistan.
A planned meeting of the government-appointed committee with the Taliban-nominated counterparts, planned for Monday, was called off, after the militants declared late Sunday in a video message that they had killed the soldiers of the Frontier Corps.

The soldiers had been kidnapped by the insurgent group, known formally as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. The soldiers were executed, the TTP said, to avenge the extrajudicial killings of 23 militants in recent days.
Last week, the TTP took responsibility for a bomb in the southern city of Karachi, which killed 12 police officers, giving the same justification. In addition, dozens more were killed in recent weeks in other bombs and shootings that the TTP didn't claim but that were believed to have been carried out by the group and its allies.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who had launched the renewed peace-talks initiative last month, described the Frontier Corps killings as a "heinous crime." The on-off attempts at negotiations were originally announced in September, announced in September, following a meeting called by Mr. Sharif where parliamentary parties endorsed the policy.

"Pakistan cannot tolerate such bloodshed. We started the negotiations process in light of the [All-Parties Conference] decision with seriousness and sincerity, but whenever we reached an encouraging point, this process was sabotaged," said Mr. Sharif.
No firm decision to end the peace process was announced, however.
The TTP didn't provide video evidence of the killing of the soldiers but promised to do so. A Pakistani security official said the government is investigating intelligence reports that the bodies were dumped just across the border, in Afghanistan's Kunar province.

A statement from the military said: "Killing of terrorists in the custody of security forces, as is being accused by the TTP, is a baseless allegation and is mere propaganda to justify their dastardly acts of terror."
The killings were claimed by the TTP faction in Mohmand, a part of the tribal areas. It is a particularly hard-line faction of the TTP that has already stated its opposition to the peace process.
"We were about to cement a cease fire but it is very difficult in these circumstances," said Shahidullah Shahid, the main spokesman for the overall TTP leadership. "On the one hand, the government is conducting a secret operation against us, and on the other hand, they want talks."
Mr. Shahid claimed that the bodies of the group's members had been dumped in Karachi and parts of the northwest.

Analysts gave the talks little chance of success even before the TTP's latest killings. The militant group has repeatedly said that it doesn't accept the constitution of Pakistan and wants to turn the country into a strict Islamic state.

In November, the peace talks had been thrown into disarray when a U.S. drone strike killed the head of the TTP, Hakimullah Mehsud. Since the relaunch of the process last month, there have been no drone attacks.

here you say these are peace talks but earlier said these are not negotiations. how can sami boy or others be an extension of islamic nationalist sentiment when they have been government agents since the 80s? if their entire personas are a sham then the taliban are just as stupid as samis followers for finding any worth in him to negotiate on their behalf. you are bashing these people while making excuses for the ttp for selecting them as their representatives.

the people who run the US government have degree's which make us all look like lowly peasants, that does not make them better than us or mean they have more common sense than we would think they do.

you still evade the question of whether or not the taliban were right in executing the troops in their captivity in the middle of these negotiations. yes or no?

Its seems like the faction holding those soldiers don't want negotiations.
Shamlawar is a moron. he does not understand the structure of the TTP. First he is wrong, Omar has no say who is leader of the TTP, the leadership is chosen in a Jirga that comprise of people who are a part of the TTP.

The question is not whether its right or wrong but does the TTP have control of its fighters. There are too many factions that make the TTP. When the spokesman says that "its difficult to commit to a ceasefire in these situations," what he is saying is that its hard to control fighters when the Army is on tribal soil and preparing for operations.

Can the pak politicians control the pak army? The pak politicians talk peace while its army talks war just like the TTP leadership talks peace while its fighters talk war.
The problem is there is no trust because of what has happened in the past.

Sharia has a place in Pakistan, but TTP does not. I hope Pakistan Army finish these morons.

They talk about Allah swt and his rasool, but behave like petty thugs.

TTP munafiq hain, Pakistani Army se ke haad zyada.
