I think it's a fun holiday. It sure brings back a lot of memories. Apart from all the food, in Azerbaijan we always placed a plate with wheat sprouts tied together with a red ribbon. It symbolized the spring or something... It had no religious meaning whatsoever. It was simply a reason for the whole family to come together and enjoy each other's company and eat AMAZING food.

Fool Zoroaster was not from Persia he was from Central Asia. Zoroastrianism (3000 to 3500 years old) is older than Persian civilization (2500 years old). It was the Eastern Iranians living in what was later known as Khorasan and the Sistan regions that spread Zoroastrianism west to the Medes and Persian who then made and shaped Zoroastrianism as their own.

If you knew what you were talking about then you would know that the first type of Zoroastrianism started in the eastern part of the old Sistan (now part of modern southwest Afghanistan and northwest Balochistan) before the religion spread west to Persians who were still in the pre-Zoroastrian pagan Iranian religion.

So stop coming with typically ignorant paki nosense and talking of things you know nothing about and then have the audacity to tell to others to "read history" before you have even read the topic yourself!

Typical cheap paki behaviour should be beneath you as a Pashtun and a Muslim. Learn to be an honest man and not an ignorant paki.

Only agree with you that the Nowruz is not a Pashtun tradition and it makes no sense even for Turks of Central Asia to celebrate this since they dont use Iranian calendar and their civilization identity is Turkic not Zoroastrian even if they are mixed with Zoroastrian Parthians, Soghds and Bactrians and living now on the lands of these extinct Iranians.

Some Pashtuns might only celebrate this Persian new year because during 1920s government of Afghanistan changed the calendar of the country to copy the solar Iranian calendar (itself based on Zoroastrian calendar). Only difference is Afghan calendar changed the Iranian-Zoroastrian names of the months, but the solar calculations are the same and based on Iranian calendar, with new year starting at Nowruz.

Seems you are a bit obsessed with me, paki. In every thread I just see you losing your cool. I love it LOL

Just read Shahname and you will see what was zoroastrism. Even the great persian hero, Rostam, was born from a kabuki zoroastrian mother called Rudabe. Actually according to Avesta Zardusht was born in Bactria (Aryana) and the first man who turned to zoroastrism was Vishtaspa king of Bactria. This has been confirmed by many famous scholars such as Frye or Sariandi.

"..while there is general agreement that he did not live in western Iran, attempts to locate him in specific regions of eastern Iran, including Central Asia, remain tentative."

ONCE AGAIN YOU GOT OWNED LOL

The whole Zaroastrian religion started in what is now North Afghanistan, so by claiming that it is Iranian is total bull****. but I guess eliminating everything what is not Arabic is the trend this days.....

But to be honest I find this celeration total waste of money, and kind of stupid. Nawroz was a small celebration not that special, and yes even rural Pashtun used to celebrate it, my grandparents from my both side celebrated it, even when they were small children, but the goverment is making it big than it used to be, I guess they want to creat some kind of common cultural link with the central Asian countries, becuase we all know that Islam in those countries is dead, and the culture is also different, so this celebration is the only thing that is left.

The only pashtun who don't celebrate it are the ones who live in Pakistan.

First of all it doesnt matter who he was.My post was that tajiks doesnt has their roots in zorastheism as one of the tajik claimed

Unlike pashtun tajik is not a race.Tajiks actually were SARTS.They were forced into persian culture by persian invaders.Persian culture and language was later imposed on them. This is the reason Real persian look down upon them.Infact they don't even allow them in their country.

About you,Living in the west won't complete your cause.Come to balochistan and get killed by FC is the only choice you have.

This Paki Bazingar is farting around like he would be directly from Islamabad. Before showing us your Paki education please take education. Every Pashtu and Dari dictiinary shows that the word Sart was adopted by Russians from Dari and Sanscrit (sartava) meaning "settlers" or "indigenous people". Naw Kal/"eid" is a Tajik festival, not Pashtun. Only some Pashtuns luving with Tajiks and other Dari-speaker celebrate and know it. Like Tajiks Iranians as well identify themselves with the cities and regions they hail from. The word Persian is not a race but a general term for dari-speakers and farsi-speakers. China and tibet use tajik to name iranians and tajiks. Shia safafid used tajik exclusively for ethnic "persians", that means "Ispahani", "Shirazai", "balkhi", kabuli", "gurgani"and so on. The mughals used both, "Irani" and "Tajik" for the same people. The Mughal court was dominated by this group "Tajik" or "Irani". Iranians don't look down to Tajiks but in general to those who call themselves "Afghan" (they are calling us cave people) and specially to Hazara group. Pakis are regarded to them even worser than Arabs are, you moron. While they are worshipping Tajiks of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. That's a fact. Just take a look on youtube under Tajik videos. Sellout Afghanistan Tajiks who named Afghan singers khurasani or Tajik singers get the same positive asslicking from them as those Tajikistanis. You idiot shoukd wake up and do not consider other people as losers or victims when you are the onky loser and a victim of Iranian chauvinism.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I respect everyone’s point of view here. At the same time, I have one question to those who speak against the celebration of Nowruz (New Year), and call it un-Islamic. Which calendar do you use in your daily life? Hijri Shamsi (Calendar), right? The first day of Hijri Shamsi is called Nowruz.
Pashto Language Blog says: “Based on the Afghan constitution the official calendar of Afghanistan is Hijri Shamsi. Hijra means emigration and Shamsi means solar. The Hijrai Shamsi year starts from the year the Prophet of Islam Muhammad, peace be upon him, emigrated from the holy city of Mecca to Medina.”

Calenders are no evidence for permissibly of celebrating pagan rituals. The prohibition is clearly evident from Qur'an, the Prophetic ahadeeth, the statements of Sahaba, the rulings in different schools of law(fiqh).

Celebrating paganism was never permitted in the entire history of Islam. The testimony of faith: La Illaha il Allah, bares in itself, rejection of any false religion. Since zoroastrians are polytheists their customs and traditions are thus rejected by anybody who sincerely pronounces his faith with the testimony.

Celebrating paganism or loving and approving paganism is an automatic negation of the testimony. Thus, according to Mullah Ali Qari al Hanafi of Herat, one becomes an apostate by merely congratulating people on the event of nawroz:

Celebrating paganism was never permitted in the entire history of Islam. The testimony of faith: La Illaha il Allah, bares in itself, rejection of any false religion. Since zoroastrians are polytheists their customs and traditions are thus rejected by anybody who sincerely pronounces his faith with the testimony.

Celebrating paganism or loving and approving paganism is an automatic negation of the testimony. Thus, according to Mullah Ali Qari al Hanafi of Herat, one becomes an apostate by merely congratulating people on the event of nawroz:
