Ghulam ishaq Khan was the president of Pakistan for 6 years(born and raised in bannu,and a banusi pashtun)

Total 17years.

Pakistan since 1947 is now 67years old

the %age of 17 years out of 67 is=25.4%

While the population of Pashtuns in Pakistan is 14-15%.

If we strickly follow the President to per capita ratio with respect to ethnicities than Pashtun occupy the Top post

Now lets talk about military

Pashtuns are just 14-15% of Pakistan population while in Pakistan army they represent 22% though some latest sources mention the numbers at 35%.But even if 22% than Pashtuns top the per capita in army aswell by ethnicity

Ayub Khan was a Potohari speaking Punjabi and General Yahya Khan was a Hindko speaking Qazalbash. Even General Waheed Kakar was a Hindko speaker. The only Pashtun chief of staff that Pakistan even had was General Gul Hassan that Bhutto later removed.

And Pashtuns are not more than 7%-8% of the army in the officer rank. There is some representation of Pashtuns in the non-commissioned ranks but that is also mostly in poorly-trained, poorly-equipped, and poorly paid FC and khasadar cadres.

pashtun is the 2nd largest ethnic group in pakistan.
We are 25% of the total papulation.
We have millions of pashtun in karachis and they tookover businesses from mahajrs.
The karachi market now dominated by pashtuns.
In future we will move these pashtuns to gwadar-baluchistan and declare our own country with pashtun majority live side by side with baluchis in peace and in brotherhood.

Somebody told me recently, in a posh locality of Islamabad, most of buyers of the housing scheme were Pashtuns (he quoted 80% but I consider that to be an exaggeration though there is no denying the fact that Pashtuns might have been disproportionately larger fragment because of the situation in KP and FATA).

But Pashtun population increasing rapidly it isn't impossible they may one day convert Islamabad and Pindi into another Karachi.

Balochistan is already almost pashtun majority and so does the KPK and FATA.

Balochistan+KPK+FATA=More than 60-65% of Pakistan land will be under pashtuns.

My own view is to build up a wall near maragala height to keep pakism out of pashtunistan.
But like once wali khan baba said,,,,,The pashtun truck driver start from khyber and end up in karachi,,,,,,,,.
So how can i stop them?
We need more industry,jobs and trade in pehswar,mardan,queta etc to stop the flow of pashtuns to sind and punjab.

If gwadar ever become port city the pashtun of karachi should move there.

gul hasan was from pabu.
wahid kakar was pashtun from zob,baluchistan.
Also the kakaran of peshawar city speak pashtu as their first language not khindko.Awais Ghani was pashtu speaker

Let me say something before I quit this forum permanently.

In my opinion US-NATO has done the same thing in Afghanistan they have been doing in most of the third-world especially Muslim countries which is to create a military bureaucratic class that is allied with and dependent on the West( Don't rule it out that in future Afghan military becomes the main political force in Afghanistan ). And at the same time, keep Afghan society polarized and then insert yourself in it as an arbitrating factor.

I think US also has some secret link with Taleban and doesn't want the issue of instability in Af-Pak to be resolved fully or either to degenerate into full-scale civil war, fragmentation phenomenon. Its best interest will be served if there is a controllable level of instability as well as a reasonable degree of peace in Af-Pak for it to take advantage of in order to achieve its strategic objectives i.e. maintaining its basis, containment of China (block China's access to Gawadar, check China's influence in Central Asia, put pressure on China through low-level political support to Ughur sentiments in Xingiang, etc.), checking Iran and Al-Qaueda, watch Pakistan (its nuclear weapons), sit over any gas or oil pipeline project from Central Asian countries, etc.

Afghanistan and Pakistan are immensely important to America to check the emergence of any Euroasian power that can challenge it.

Unfortunately, it seems US will not like to solve the instability in Pashtun areas rather use it to its own advantage e.g. why not use Taleban to keep pressure on Afghan govt. As long as Taleban don't have any global agenda, US can have mutually beneficial relationships with it.

So the greatest challenge for Pashtuns is how to develop themselves human resource wise and in civic sense in face of these odds when different powers are intent on using Taleban barbarism in Pashtun areas for their own ends?

I think Pashtun in both states should focus on developing themselves, preserving their language and culture, maintain cross-Durand Line relations, push strongly for peace, push strongly for visa-free travel between Afghanistan and Pakistan, work hard to remove the curse of FATA, increase regional and international media presence, etc.

I think of all the people in the region Pashtuns should push more for best relations. That will benefit us in the long run.

I think it is wrong for us Pashtuns especially from Pakistan to be this much against Dari-Persian. Dari-Persian has been a lingua-franca of Muslims from India to Turkey for many centuries and in my opinion it better deserve to be lingua franca of the region comprising Af-Pak-Tajakistan-Iran than Urdu-Hindi. As long as we Pashtun have the right to use tour language in education and offices we should not have any issue with Dari-Persian or Urdu-Hindi as lingua-francas.

In a sense both languages should be used as lingua france with Pashto, Baluchi, Uzbaki, etc. and other languages as main/national languages of different nationalities.
