Right now the only serious contenders are Abdullah and Ghani. But anything can happen, because in Afghanistan elections are won by secret deals and haggling.
All election in the world are held my the powerful. No doubt about it. Maybe some countries like Island has some kind of "true" democracy!
To Paradise, with Pakhto, I will go.

but yes if he won the election fairly it should be acceptable.

After the fall of the Taliban regime, he served in the interim government and later in under Karzai during the latters first term in office. In that particular period of time, Abdullah became multi-millionair.

He is sided with Atta Muhammd Noor who openly attacks Pashtuns and openly states he prefers a non-Pashtun government.

      But still he is acceptable?

How did Abdullah Abdullah contribute in a positive way in the last 3 decades? If he did contribute positively as a politician in the past 30 years, we can say that despite some of his evil traits, he still did something that was beneficial. The truth is, his entire career as a politician is a disservice to Afghanistan.

Yet, in perfect world where elections are held and conducted fairly, you still don't mind having a criminal as the elected ruler?

      How does this makes sense?

Abdulla x2 is much better candidate in favour the US interest.
      Please explain why.

Yet, you consider him lesser evil?

The "civil war" was fought over Kabul, by the Mujahedin. The rest of the country was governed by various warlords.

People love their warlords, you can not take them away because others will rise up to represent their ethnicity, tribe, sect.

We can turn your logic around and say that the reason Abdullah is likely to become president, is because the Taliban committed atrocities and the people are fearful of it being repeated.

If Abdullah can bring peace and development to our country, then its ok for me. I don't mind if he is pashtun or tajik. We are all afghans.

people forget that while jamiat took kabul, they enforced shariah law which mirrored the talibans shariah but opponents of shariah that support the likes of abdullah because he and his the like of him are now pro western forget this.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.
