      the "i" in Pakistan is just a conjunctive between the word Pak and Stan

      like Guistan ..it's Gul-E-Stan ...

      So Paki is just Pak with the conjunction "i". What an insecure little bugger. Afghan Nationalists are annoying but Paki Nationalists take the cake for irritating. They're so full of jingoist mumbo jumbo it's unbelievable.

          Neighbourhood watch: Pre-poll survey sparks controversy, speculation among presidential hopefuls – The Express Tribune
          PLz read the following.
          1.The Wazir Ahmadzi, established in southern Waziristan, who are descended from Ahmad, son of Musa Darwesh, son of Wazir, son of Solayman, son of Kakay (or Kaki), son of Karlan, and thus belong to the Karlani lineage. [1] Together with the Otmanzi, these Ahmadzi constitute the Musa Darwesh Khel, a clan that, with the Mahsud and the Gorbaz, is linked to the great Wazir tribe. They are divided into two lineages: [2] the Kalu Khel, numbering 3,906 men of fighting age at the end of the 19th century, [3] and the less important Sen or Sayn Khel, numbering 280 fighting men. [4] Bellew confirms these figures, [5] estimating that the Ahmadzi number 10,000 families. He also gives, for each of the two lineages, numerous names of tribal factions included in it; seventy-one for the Kalu Khel and fifty-two for the Sen Khel.
          The Solayman Khel Ahmadzi, an important nomadic clan affiliated with the tribe of the Solayman Khel of the Ghilzi tribal federation. In the 19th century they had their winter quarters at Paharpur in the district of Dera Ismail Khan. [6]
          The Dawtani Ahmadzi, a nomadic clan attached to the Lodhi confederation. Murray [7] locates their winter quarters on the banks of the Indus between Kat Malana and Parca in the district of Dera Ismail Khan and gives the figure of 700 fighting men for all these Dawtani, which furnishes some idea of just how small this Ahmadzi fraction is.
          To the south of the Gomal river Murray [8] localizes eight different Ahmadzi ethnic fractions attached to different tribes:
          In the Zhob valley:
          Ahmadzi < Mamezi < Haydar Khel < Mando Khel
          Ahmadzi < Solayman Khel < Ghilzi
          Ahmadzi < Kabalzi < Hasanzi < Kibzi < Sanzar Khel < Kakar
          In the Loralay valley:
          Ahmadzi < Malezi < Rakawwal < Luni
          Ahmadzi < Nuhzi < Isot < Ghorghasht
          In the Bori valley in the Loralay region:
          Ahmadzi < Mirzi < Alizi < Sanzar Khel < Kakar
          In the Sibi region:
          Ahmadzi < Lawan < Pani
          West of Dera Ismail Khan:
          Ahmadzi < Mangisi < Laharzi < Musa Khel
          In Afghanistan two clans of Ahmadzi are generally distinguished:

          As a branch of the Abair, the Ahmadzi include the descendants of Ahmad Shah Dorrani, a line of descent with high prestige in Afghanistan. This line has sometimes played an important political role and attracted other Ahmadzi in quest of more illustrious ethnic identification.
          The other Ahmadzi are settled mainly in Paktia and Logar. Among the lineages that have sprung from them, the most important are the Isa Khel, the Musa Khel, and the Akurzi (or Akur Khel). These are certainly for the most part Wazir Ahmadzi (see above), but it is possible that there are among them several Solayman Khel or even some Dawtani who have been assimilated, as often happens with emigrants. It is frequently remarked that this clan, with its great prestige, conforms in an exemplary manner to the tenets of the Pashtunwali, the famous code of honor of the Pashtun.

              Ahmadzai is also a Subtribe of Wazir whom in return are the Subtribe of karlani

              Hence Ahmadzai is something not only limited to ghilzai

              In Afghanistan ahmadzai are generally taken as from the Ghilzai because they are more prominent in Afghansitan compared to Ahmadzai wazir

              While in Pakistan Ahmadzai are generally taken as Wazir since in Pakistan the Ahmadzai through sulemankhel and than Ghilzai are extremely rare.

              About the latter,I pity your ignorance

                Thanks for the post.

                As earlier said in Pakistan since Ahmadzai(from Sulemankhel are very rare).this is the reason Ahmadzai are usually considered as Wazir.

                While the opposite must be in Afghanistan.

                  Lol pakies don't even consider you pashtuns. the article was merely a joke.
                  RACES AND TRIBES ?

                  The population contains several ethnological strata, representing the deposits formed by different streams of immigration or invasion. Most numerous and important are the Pathans (Pukhtana), who regard themselves as the dominant class, and form the majority of the agricultural population in Peshawar, Kohat and Bannu, while beyond the administrative border they are in exclusive possession from Chitral to the Gomal. In Hazara, Gujars and other tribes of Indian origin dominate, while Dera Ismail Khan is inhabited mainly by Jats.

                  Pathan is not now a racial term, whatever its original significance may have been. It now denotes status, and is said in Swat and Dir to describe one who possesses a share in the tribal estate and who has therefore a voice in the village and tribal councils. The pathan tribes are mainly of Uranian origin, but many of their sections are affiliated clans of Hindki ot indigenous descent, others of Syed (Arabian), and a few possibly of Turkish origin.

                  Next in numerical importance come the Awans or Vassals mainly in Hazara and the Peshawar valley. The Gujars also live in Hazara. They are also numerous in Dir, Swat, and Bajaur, where they speak Pashtu, through on the boders of Dir and Asmar they retain their Indian speech. Other less numerous tribes are the Jats, mostly in Dera Ismail Khan, Syeds, Tanaolis, Malliars, Dhunds, Balochs, Rajputsm Sheikhs, Kharrals, Mughals, Qureshis, Baghbans, Parachas, Kassabs, and Gakhars. Of Hindu castes, the Aroras Khattris, and Brahmans are important. In Jandol and Maidan are various other tribes of Jafir descent converted to Islam, and now reckoned as Pathans.

                  Of the artisan classes the most numerous are the Tarkhans or carpenters, Some of whom raised under British rule to the status of a professional class as trained engineers next to them in munerical strength are the Julahas (weavers), then come the Lahore (black-smiths). Mochis (leather-workers and shoemakers) Kumhars (potters and brick-burners) Sonars (goldsmiths). And Telis (oil-pressers).

                    The Ahmadzai in Logar and other parts of afghanistan are in fact Gharzai/Ghelzai or for parsipobic afghan Gheljai/khilji.
                    The Ahmadzai wazir are different from Gharzai or Khilji.
                    The Ahmadzai wazir are karlanis not Gharzais.There are some Ahmadzai wazir in afghanistan but not many.
                    Dr Ghani is Ahmadzai is belong to the sub-tribe of sulaimankhel Gharzai or ghaljai.
                    The afghans -pashtun always follow the persains historains and words.
                    The real name of Ghiljai pashtun is Gharzai the original Inhabitants of Ghor or Ghar province of today,s afghanistan.
                    After the mongol invasion the pashtun Gharzai tribe moved towards east from their original country Ghor.
                    Ghor is in fact a pashtu word Ghar/mountain but the persainised pashtuns pronouce it ghor.
                    Many do,nt even know what Logar mean?
                    Logar is pashtu word loy Ghar but again the strong persain influence ruined every pashtu word.
                    The persain historains also claimed that pashtun Gharzais are in fact the decendants of khalaj Turk.
                    This is another attack on the largest and pashtu speaking tribe of afghanistan.
                    Here on this forum i fully explained the origin of khalaj people with ref.

                            Ashraf Ghani ,s allaince with uzbiks could get him votes in the north.
                            This is not a bad idea in politics you have to do it.
                            He will get 9% uzbik votes in the north.I hope pashtun candidate step back in favor of ahmadzai sb.
                            The defeat of abudullah punjsheri is realy important.

                              I agree with Gadoonwall SAIB. Hazara in majority is Pashtuns. The Kohistanis of Hazara, Swat, Dira as far as Kunar and Laghman and Nuristan are mostly bilingual in Pashto and their local languages.

                                Shamlawar khurasani already gave the explanation on what Paki means.
                                Pakistan means land of Paki.

                                The same way it is for Afghanistan.
                                stan = land
                                Afghan = the people
                                Afghanistan = land of Afghans

                                same thing for Pakistan
                                stan = land
                                Paki = people
                                Pakistan = land of Paki

                                So Paki is referring to the people of Pakistan. In UK it have become a slang, because they doesn't know what it means. So for people who lives in Pakistan who knows the meaning, it shouldn't be something offensive.
                                By the way, some people in UK lately have started using the term "Afghanis" and when they distort it too much, they transform it into "Awghanis" or "Awghans". How do you react to that?

                                Do you think it carries positive connotations or negative?
