'Parsiwan' is such a vague concept.. what is it? Non-Pashtun? Non-Pashto-Speaking person? Some stigma we put on people's head? What is it? Because to an extent it ALL applies to me.

I can speak Pashto.. but I can speak Dari as well..
I am Pashtana but ""Parsiwaan"" (in my case Tajek) blood runs in my veins as well.. what defines being a Parsiwan? Speaking Dari? Not speaking Pashto? Having Non-Pashtun parents?

This is not about fashion statements, this is about racism. So I cannot be discriminated against by people who deliberately claim to be racist against 'parsiwaans' but my mother can because she was not born to a Pashtun father? What about the fact that the only language the Tajiks in my family can speak is Pashto? Does that still make them 'Parsiwans' or is that a 'Pashtowan'? Where do the non-Pashtuns that are fluent in only Pashto fall? If we consider Pashtuns who exclusively speak Dari Parsiwans.. do we consider Tajiks who exclusively speak Pashto Pashtuns too.. or is that a privilege only your father can give you?

I don't seem to grasp the politics of this selective racism, what do these people do, go ask around :"Was your father Tajik? Yea? Oh. I hate you. Ooooh you were just kidding your father is Pashtun? Naah jk I love you bro."
                  ??

all other languages you can speak add to your talent. not to who you are.
who are you to decide this for her? i am a "farsiwan" the minute some one discriminates against it and i am proud of mayana for not denying that part of her background unlike the other half of the members in this forum have.

you are a pashtoon by whatever means you choose to be but you are only an afghan when you accept the terms put out by the requirements of being an afghan. insulting a non pashto speaking afghan has been a fashion statement for pashtoons for a lot longer than the other way around.

I don’t believe in nationalism or class divisions or priesthood or hereditary nobility. I believe in a democracy between man and man, in the development of man, in an open, ideological society in contrast with the closed, racially or geographically limited societies of the past.
Having said that, Pukhtuns are going through a very hard time struggling for survival and I support them in their fight against tyranny till they are free. Tomorrow, if Pukhtuns - as a free and strong nation - begin suppressing other minorities, I will join hands with the suppressed minorities to fight against Pukhtuns.

                        So long as a single Afghan breathes;
                        There will be this Afghanistan.

Being Pashtun is racially and linguistically and being a Parsiwaan is just linguistically. If your mom is not pashtun by blood, sadly she is not a Pashtun.

She is Pashto zuban but not Pashtun. Parsiwaan is not an ethnicity.

no body does that what you mentioned at the end. we are all grown and mature here. please dont think 2 or 3 members represent us all.

She is "sadly" not a Pashtana? Interesting. As if being Pashtun is being superior to any other ethnicity. On a side note: She was more of a Pashtana than MANY of you here ever will be, if you truly must know.

The questions I asked where all rhetorical, I do very well understand the concepts of ethnicity, linguistics and patriarchy in Afghanistan. Pashtun and Tajiks are ethnicities but Pashtozuban and Farsizuban defines linguistic groups. You can be a Pashtozuban Tajik and a Farsizuban Pashtun. I wasn't making a fashion statement when I said that I am 'Parsiwan' - I was making a point regarding Nokia Apridy's post. We cannot live in this dualist world, our community is too diverse for that. There are many, many, many Farizuban Pashtuns, has it come to the point where we have turned into self-hating racist?

Of course no one does what I mentioned at the end of my post.. but how else can you then discriminate against a linguistic group? Point being: It's ridiculous to discriminate against a linguistic group.

No body asked her to deny it. Point is Pashtuns are a patriarchal society, if she is born to a pashtun dad if she can speak Pashto. that means she is Pashtun. your statistics are off hun, provide proof that half of the members are non Pashtun and deny it. If you cant provide proof for your outrageous claims, I suggest you to not further comment.

not that i was discriminating against germans or anything of the sort but it's good to know that you have been born to a german parent after all..
had you not been so ignorant as to claim some one is making a "fashion statement" by admiting to have "farsiwan" blood in her family line i might have considered being more radical.
