vast majority of pakistani pathans will shoot for saying dumb **** like this.
Can some objective Pakistani (not Afghan) Pashtoons chime in on this?

Is this really the general sentiment? Is this sentiment shared only in certain areas?

Or is more or less non-existent?

No. Sometimes I think that Pashtuns in Pakistan are way more conservative towards their culture than Afghans. And I'm not mentioning whether they support Pakistan or Afghanistan. In cities some Pashtun act like jackasses. But by rural Pashtuns, they are considered weak, and on many occassions even called Punjabi.

I have met with Waziris, Yousafzai, Shinwaris, Khataks, and Niazis. They were all from villages, and even though some of them were very conservative, they never insulted me once.

The only time I was ever insulted by Pathans was in Peshawar, and they were the tight jeans wearing sort.

I have noticed that our tribals, Orakzais, Waziris, and Mehsuds, are actually quite patriotic and defend Pakistan's identity.

Now the reason for this is quite different. The Pashtuns of FATA belong to only themselves. Not to Afghanistan nor to Pakistan. To sum it up..They tolerate Pakistan because Pakistan gave them full-fledged autonomy.

They are the nicest people on Earth you can meet, and the most fearsome foes you could ever encounter. The only Pashtun warriors that actually exist live in between Pakistan and Afghanistan on the border. They are the most independent. For Afghanistan or even Pakistan to disturb them, will bring destruction. The people of FATA are their own masters and only answer to Allah swt.

Everything I've written is just my outlook. How I saw things with my experience. I am no expert on Pashtuns. I have been in KB a long time ago. A time when it was still called NWFP.

Thanks. I'm not a Pakistani Pashtoon, don't believe you are either, but you have probably spent more time amongst them then I have.

In any event, the above quoted line is probably something I have to completely disagree with. In my personal experience, it has been the opposite - Peshawar namely is where I have encountered pro-Punjabi establishment Pashtoons or pejoratively, "Pathans." I have seen it in Quetta sparingly and amongst tribals non-existent.

Any other Pakistani Pashtoons feel free to chime in. Manana.

                A few things.

You are obviously Punjabi so your view will be biased and since your family has inter-married with Pashtoons, they are inclined towards Punjabis and Pakistan, or else why would they marry a Punjabi. This is why I asked for Pashtoons, and actually was asking for khaas Pakistani Pashtoons. Just the mention of "Pathan" shows where your are in the spectrum, the word is actually a pejorative amongst Pashtoons.

I didn't mention anything about who we should fear or not fear, it had nothing to do with my question.

The revisionist history is laughable as well. Alhamdillah whose blood was spilled and whose money and at whose beheset any aid was given is very clear.

Also, as to "Daris" as you call them, I don't know that you would be an authority on that subject. In any event, though, the truth is they generally do dislike Punjabis, as do the vast majority of Pashtoons, they do look down on them for a myriad of reasons including incompatible cultures, aesthetics, history, origins, etc.

The sentiment I guess is the one expressed by the Punjabi poster who said something to the effect that if you talk to a Pakistani Pashtoon about redefining the border, i.e., recreating Loiy Afghanistan, among other changes, a Pakistani Pashtoon would get so upset because of his love for Punjabis that he would shoot you.

Is this how you guys feel or how some sizeable majority of Pakistani Pashtoons feel?

Reforming Loiy Afghanistan and losing their association with Punjabis mean that much to them above their blood relations and history across the border?

Well.. here are my two cents... PAshtuns in paskistan are progresively opening up to the idea of independence.. thanks to pakistani (Punjabified policies).. that said.. i being pakistani pashtun.. dont have as many issues with punjabies as Afghani Pashtuns.. also all my life my best friedns have been punjabies... we grew up togather.. and they even (couple of closest ones) are fluent in pashto.. However, i myself belive that Pakistan need to chnage policies (its a federation) towards all the ethnic groups (Policies petraining to official languages, support of indegenous cultures, equal economic opportunity and general justice for all), other wise independence is not a bad option.. Also i being pakistani can not get along with Farsibans,, i think they are traitors,, and back stabbers.. and Punjabies are mcuh, much better people.. compared to Tajiks.. I also believe that balochs should be given rights.. i want samethings for balouchs .. which is similar to pashtuns.. also i believe pashtuns on either side of the border are similar and no one is better than thhe other..
Also i think yoy are pakistani pashtun..
What really drives me hazy is it me or are the others crazy

Most of what your saying is pretty irrelevant to to allegiance, maybe, aside from the military figures (which I would like to see a source), it speaks to integration more. However, all I really see from the other figures is that

                        • There are about 70 million Pashtoons in Pakistan and about 60 in Afghanistan - how that proves allegiance to any ethnic group is beyond me because its not like they were actually given a choice
                        • Imran Khan is a person (even then his claim to being Pashtoon are highly questionable at best) and his allegiance, whatever that is, does not extrapolate out to 70 million other people
                        • The cricket team captain and much of the team being "Pathan" simply means there probably more athletic then other ethnic groups in Pakistan, nothing about allegiance, its not like they can play for another national team
                        • The awards have nothing to do with allegiance, I don't know how you can jump to that conclusion
                        • And the Afghan claiming to be Paki is an example, unsubstantiated as it is, and my experience has been much the opposite in the west

Also, the reason I asked my question is because most Pakistani Pashtoons I know curse and insult Punjabis constantly and consider it an insult to be called Punjabi. Moreover, they all say Pashtoons are our brothers first and foremost, not Punjabis. This being what I know is why I asked the question I did - something doesn't add up.

lol - another internet badmaash, now we have a Punjabi internet badmaash, the complete oxymoron lol.

Firstly, the aid was through U.S. dollars, when the dollars ran up the generous Pakistani establishment, coincidentally, ceased aid.

Secondly, Afghans don't even recognize the border, they come and go as they please like the nar people they are.

Thirdly, our nang and name is famous through history, puh dwa guttah limar ne putaygee.

To summarize, the aid was through America and other Western powers, money and weapons were provided via that proxy, Pakistani was simply used by others and as is their habit and culture, attempted to use the blood of others for their own gain and the Afghans, the baw ghairat people that they are, qurbaani'd themselves to the tune of 1 million without hesitation while the your bretheren were building Lollywood and seeing how many more English words you could squeeze into your language.

well either the pakistani pathans are lying to us or the afghanis thats means.

                              you got your numbers wrong

there are 30 million pathans in pakistan.
and there is 12 million pathans in afghanistan.

idk where you have been but somebody have been lying the **** out of themselves to you.
get a genuine Pathan from pakistan with no family in afghanistan and they will give you a field day. don't bring an afghan refugee living in pakistan.
                              but a real pakistani pathan.
tiger khan seems like off spring of afghan refugees to me.

lol.. temper.. temper.. well i think i answered that in my last post.. we pakistani pashtuns associate with afghani pashtuns..and see the thing with pakistan is that there are not many sindhies in india (so no connection with india), nor many baluchs in Iran or afghanistan.. punjabies that are in india are sikhs..so paksitani punjabies can not have a good connection with them either.. pashtuns however, have a sizable population in afghanistan.. so we are comfortable with them.. that said, i do believe pashtuns (Afghanistani) are a little ungrateful to pakistan.. and as far as Aid money is concerned.. Pakistan never planned that they will royaly screw afghanistan and when the Aid money comes in they will party with it (I wish they were such an amaizing planners), however, subsequent to afghan wars the money did come and they did "Party" with it. But you have to realize that both (infact almost all) the "muslim" countires are corrupt.. the politicians on both sides would take the money when the opportunitues arise. I have no doubt in my mind that had afghanistan been in pakistan shoes they would have done the samething.. we are just corrupt people.. and no one tell me that corruption is not happeninig in afghanistan (i m sure it is happening in pakistan)..

Plus,, i am a pure pashtun.. but i do call myself pathann sometime.. (i dont see a problem with that)..
