  • Jihad of pashtun tribesmen in kashmir, a work for ISI?

Everybody knows that pashtuns tribesmen particiapted in 1948 war of kashmir to help their kashmiri muslim brothers. Azad kashmir owes its freedom to pashtuns & kashmiris r still thanking us for our help.
No i wonder what anti-pak pakhtun nationalists think about those pashtun tribesmen who did jihad. were they brainwashed?
    were they puppets of ISI?
The ghairatmand & brave wazir, mehsuds & afridis actually served their colonial masters?

The reasons that people are willing to die for something they or someone else believes in are complex.

Sometimes the reasons are very deep. Othertimes, they have been brainwashed - consider the motivations of a 14 year old with explosives strapped to him.

    Just a thought on Kashmir.

Who's "war" is it anyway? India's, China's, Pakistan's or the Kashmiris themselves?

Isn't it better to look at Kashmir as another case, like the Durand Line - of a mess that the Brits left behind and that the easy solution would be for everyone else to let go and let the Kashmiris be?

See, I personally have no claim on Kashmir and their betterment like the betterment of the Pashtoons could happen very quickly if remote Panjab-based elements would just butt out.

There was no ISI in 1948. ISI was created in the 50s by a British-aussie named Cawthome. I think the Pashtuns did that out of affinity of religion, although there were a few bad apples who had indulged in looting. On the whole though, I think many Pashtuns were in it due to religion. I don't doubt that elements of Pakistan establishment (muslim leaguers) must have encouraged it. I don't think Pashtun nationalists consider those people bad at all, after all it was these tribesmen which Pak army so brutally is killing that once won them over what little kashmir they have. Ironic isn't it, the people who "freed" Kashmir are not free themselves.

Sikander Mirza who had remained the deputy commissioner of Peshawar arranged all that FASAD in Kashmir. It was him who instigated and used the gullible tribesmen. It was just like the case of British indian army soldiers who instead of rising up against their colonial masters to win their own freedom were engaged in attacking Afghanistan, Turkey etc. for the sake of their colonial masters to extend the imperial powers and thus perpetuate their own slavery.

It was Sinkader Mirza (who later on became the Governer General of Pakistan) who used his old relationship with the tribesmen when he was the deputy commisioner of Peshwar during the British raj (such is the history of these Paksitani muslims) and distributed weapons among the tribesmen to arrange an attack on Kashmir while Kashmir was still an independent state till that time.

And for your information one part of Kashmir is under the chinese occupation but Pakistan never initiated any dispute with them while india fought against chinese in 1962. This shows the real motive of Pakistan that it has no interest in Kashmir they just needed an enemy to create a security situation and concoct reasons for its existence.

ISI is the root cause of all evils in the region. Another strange thing about ISI is that unlike RAW (the indian security agency) it is not accountable to the civilian government and is often engaged in conspiracies to malign and dethrown civilian governments. It has supra constitutional powers. It is generally believed that it is also involived in the abduction and killings of many political workers epecially in Baloch areas.

Not only abductions, but a state within a state. They have even (with the army) put baloch women into sexual slavery.

Kashmiris are a mixture of many ethnic and religious groups like Budhists, Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims. The minority makes 40 percent of the population.

So, if Kashmiri have right for independence, then Pashtuns definitely have the same right since they have an overwhelming majority in Northern Pakhtunkhwa (now khyber pakhtunkhwa) and Southern Pakhtunkhwa (the former British Balochistan; a misnomer, which by the time the British made it into Balochistan Commissionerate, had only 9 percent Baloch population).

The injustice, disrespect, enslavement and biased institutions of Pakistan will ultimately convince Pakhtuns to win their freedom back from the Punjab dominated Pakistan. It is just a matter of time. The politico-economic deprivation are accelerating this realisation inside Pakistan. The International politics in Pakhtun land will act as a catalyst for their freedom from Pakistan.I can see an independent Kashmir ,Indpendent Pakhtunkhwa and an Independent Balochistan in the coming 10 years.

Jodigul malgariya, I would advise you not to use the 'Ummah' , 'Moslem brethren' card. Understand this:

In 2009, a total of maybe 700,800 Palestinians (I don't have the exact number) were killed by Isreal. Every Tom, **** and Harry in Pashtunkhwa and Pakistan took out rallies and stuff for the people of Gaza and Palestine. Now, a total of 1080 civilians of Pashtunkhwa were killed in 334 blasts in 2009. Have you ever heard of Palestinians in Ramallah or Gaza or Kashmiris in Srinagar or Sadrists in Iraq coming out in support if the people of Pashtunkhwa? No. Why should we care and waste our energies and resources for them.
As goes the issue of the Kashmir War 0f 1948, khyaal has made the points clear. It was just another case of the Pashtuns being used for the dirty deeds of others. What did the Wazirs and the Mehsuds get in return for their services for Pakistan?
