That's a trick question; Afghanistan has always been embroiled in some sort of turmoil whether internal or external. Even if you say during the time of Zahir Shah things were peaceful. This is "relatively" peaceful. Tribal strifes and conflict remained. Most of Zahir Shah's reign was cosmetic.

It's not a "period" of despair; it is constant dysfunctionality and lack of progress that is the Pashtun issue.The fact "Millions of Americans reject evolution" well first off HOW MANY Millions of American, because America is a HUGE country Nearly 300,000,000. You know what modern thinking is? It's the ability to let go of racial warfare, a mindset which is too advanced to waste time on racial hate mongering because it prolongs the progress of achievements, modern thinkers are making the world a better place, others try create tensions and provoke racism, these people are classed as bigots, which is why individuals like yourself will never be able to compete with the likes of modern thinking people since your self taught hate ideologies prevent you. pride has more than one meaning:
pride could mean self respect or conceit or boasting about oneself. Islam says that the character of the person makes one better than the other and when a Pashtun proudly says "za pakhtun yum" (I am Pashtun) he is actually telling people he is a free and independent thinker who has rights, a person that will refuse to bow to anyone but god. There is nothing wrong to have pride in that.

Nothing you say makes sense; you not only don't understand what Islam, you don't understand Mutazilah. If you did you'd see how ASININE your argument is .Mutazilah isn't a "sect" it's a way of thinking, a philosophy. It's just a term for people who apply that approach.
