    Wowra,

I noted in either this or another of your threads that you read "Demons" by Dostoevsky. That is one of the most informative/reflective books on government that unfortunately many political leaders around the world I doubt have read.

I myself found it weird why in America people question the existence of God after such a traumatic event and the "suvivors guilt." I always thought that Afghans have a strong conviction that it is God's will for people to live or die, therefore whatever "is" is accepted and should not be feared. There is a huge support network when someone dies or is born and the person never really feels alone.
I think you have got the same psychological make-up as those deriving pleasure from killing people.

            Shah-i-Kot-

I've never read Demons, but I've read The Idiot and Crime and Punishment. I own a few others, but never got around to reading them. I'm horrible about letting my reading pile up.

Demons is a well done book (boring prose which requires patience), but one has to be in tune with the subtle political message he is trying to get across about authoritarianism (nihilism), and how it destroys a state/government that applies it. I havent read those other books you mentioned, but will look into them.
