pashtun in afghanistan might not become 20% for the next 2-3 decade but you are not aware of the future since pashtuns alreadh has depleted from 67% of total population in 1980's to 42% now.

And once the tajiks and uzbeks get complete hold in Afghanistan..even though correct me if i am wrong.the Afghan national army is made up majority of them.like they have changed the the national language of afghanistan into dari/persian(atleast in the media or the afghan official they use dari instead of pashto anymore including the karzai)

i know afghan refugees might start returning back to afghanistan onwards 2014...but again For the pashtuns to get upto 60-70% of afghan population would be a hell alot of difficult mark.

i just hope that A true democracy is established in afghanistan..talibans are being defeated.peace preveal in both pakistan and afghanistan.

And we have bette relations with each other
First wiki is a really bad source, you must not rely to much on it and secondly I don;t think that 67% is the correct number even some Pashtuns say that number is exagerated, and we are not 42% we are more something between 50-55% at minimum.

Pakistans army is also more than 80% non-Pashtun how do you know that you are save there, even now Pakistan allows US to bomb the Pashtun areas, that are technicaly speaking Pakistans soil and you think that Punjabis are your friends.

Dari was alsways used in media and in politics actualy even the old kings used dari as the court langauge, so that doesn't prove that much, actualy Pashtu is becoming more populare and is more used than ever.
And Pashtu is still the national language and is taught in every school, you can't even get your high school diploma if you fail Pashtu.

Wiki might not be good but is a regular updated source..

so far there are many more sites mentioning the present population of pashtuns in afghanistan 42%

67% was in the 80's.when the afghan people were migrating toward pakistan due to ussr invasion

Pashtuns are 15% of pakistan population while they represent 15-22% of pak armed forces..this info dates back to 2006.

While now a person from waziristan and rest of F R region can go for armed forces tested even with 50% marks in FSC while for the rest of pakistan the figure stand at not less than 60% Marks in FSC

So may be within this decade pashtuns will represent more than 30% of pak army.

Not just pashtuns but the punjabi, sindhi all of them want the drone strikes to be stopped

Though they are officially permitted by the present govt..which no longer exist..even if the punjabi nawaz is selected or the pashtun Imran khan..both will stop the drone and think later about the consequence..

in pakistan the ancient hate between pashtuns and punjabis no more exist.a past tense now.

Agreed.but pashto should had been the language used in everything

Yes but our kings didn't see it that way and it was a big mistake, but anyhow, if you like Punjabis so much and you want you kids to marry those pakis and speak urdu the whole time go ahead, those 15-20% would be so integrated in you mainstream Pakistan that it would just dissapear and at the end of the day Afghanistan would still have Pashtun population and Pakistan would become like India, where you still here some peopel claim that they are Pathan but have totaly forgoten Pashtu language and culture.....

The rest of your comment doesn;t make sence so I am not gona replay to that

Yes true democracy, defeat of Taliban and good relations with all including Pakistan. This is the best scenario.

Pashtuns in Pakistan are more in number than Pashtuns in Afghanistan but Pashto language is stronger in Afghanistan than in Pakistan. Writing and reading of Pashto is almost dead in Pakistan but in Afghansitan still you see Pashto sign boards and its use in media and government offices although not at par with Dari.

Pashto must be declared official language in Pashto speaking districts of Pakistan otherwise it will go extinct. So far the only hope for Pashto is Afghanistan. Foreigners learn Pashto for Afghanistan never for Pakistan. The only think I like in Taliban of Afghanistan is the use of Pashto and making Pashto more popular internationally.

Thats why I said above that

I am extremely worried about the increasing distance between the Pashtuns of Afghanistan and Pakistan. If some serious efforts are not taken Pashtuns on both sides of the border, Pashtuns will deem themselves as different races or ethnicities. Yes races or ethnicities because already they belong to two different nations, Pakistani and Afghanistani or afghan.

Pashtuns on both sides of the Durand line belong to one family, one blood, one language and one culture, one past but now being part of two different countries, distance is increasing between them. Pashtuns in Pakistan are coming under influence of Punjabis and Urdu speakers and Pashtuns in Afghanistan are coming under influence of Tajiks and Persian speakers.

We have to work and suggest that how Pashtuns on both sides can be culturally and linguistically united? Their cultural and linguistic unity is the only possibility as their political unity is now an unattainable dream. We have to devise pragmatic strategies that how distance between Pashtuns on both sides of the Durand line can be reduced and they may come together at least culturally psychologically and linguistically if not politically.

Pashtuns must be realistic in their approach. Some Pashtuns on both sides want merger of Pashtuns areas which is impossible as how Afghanistan will leave its non -Pashtun areas to be merged with Pashtun areas for a greater Pashtunistan. This is impossible, and how Pakistan will let its Pashtun areas to be separated, that would be too impossible for Pakistan.

As the distance between the Pashtuns living in Afghanistan and Pakistan is increasing we must learn from nations who speak the same language and have the same culture but are politically different and belong to different nations or countries and are citizens of different states. For example all Arab, Spanish, German, French ,English speaking people are not the citizens of the same countries but psychologically ,linguistically , culturally , economically they have enormous ties and try to develop linkages which further strengthen their bonds

Not to worry the pashtuns of peshawar might be not good with with being afghans..
But rest of pakistani pashtun considered afghan pashtuns as there brother..

if by afghan one mean pashtuns than the pakistani pashtun can be called afghan
if by afghan one mean those living in afghanistan than many pakistani pashtuns might not go for this

many pashtuns of pakistan like me would have given up pakistan if the pashtunistan region included balochistan as well..i mean if the pashtunistan region was not again a landlocked country..

sorry but that is not integration, Pashtuns areas of Pakistan is almost no better than what we have in Afghanistan, and you didn't even had war for 30+ years, you live in isolation in your own country all the money goes to Punjab, but I guess that makes you happy, so be it.

And there are a lot of Psshtuns in Pakistan who married Punjabis and speak only Urdu, give it more years and you will all disolve in to the Punjabi masses.

And by the way Pakistan exist since 1947, in 1800 you were neighbours, and they were not your follow country men -_-
