A great speech by Mohammad Khan Achakzai
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.
A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai
For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."
The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!
-Ferishta, 1560–1620 -
And then there are so-called "Pashtuns" who will malign this man in order to support their vested interests."If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be".
"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives".

In my personal opinion, Achakzai and Afzal Khan Lala are the only assests that we have in these critical times. I love both of them for their bravery, truthfulness, and for thier political will and wisdom.
To the opportunist, they are always biggest threats. But with their allegiant and uncompromising attitude, they have never bowed to sell the Pashtun blood for peanuts.
I have heard him live three times in my life (and hopefully many more in future) and everytime I had goose bumps with my blood boiling in my vessels,lol..one of them was in Parliment house of the Islamic republic and he did not care about anything except Pashtuns."O Pakhtuns!, Your house has fallen into ruin, let us rebuild it".

A couple of JUI Pashtun friends pointed out exactly that to me. They said that he has betrayed his supporters by not standing for the elections. I think Mahmud Khan has spent his entire life sticking to his principles and he wasn't gonna compromise now. Besides, we only have around two years left until the election campaigns begin.Originally posted by Yousafzai Pakhtun View Posti think he did a mistake by bycotting the elections...and probably he is now realizing it...ka sanga lewania.....?
I think Achakzai is an idealist. And it's not a bad thing. He wants all the Pashto-speaking areas within the state of Pakistan to be united into a single province. That would mean another constitutional amendment and considering how difficult it was just to get a watered down "Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa" title, Achakzai's task seems impossible. Perhaps the only way he can practically achieve his objective is by simply winning a lot of seats and getting ANP to also make a coalition with the party in the center that would support us. However, it would still be nearly impossible because then the Mohajirs would ask for a piece of Sindh for themselves, the Seraikis would want their 'desh', Sindhis would want Sindhudesh and it would get really messy. The army would step in inevitably..... and Achakzai knows that Punjab would not give an inch of territory to Pakhtunkhwa, let alone entire districts... But his cause is just and even if it's impossible, we should fight for it."If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be".
"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives".

Basically, Achakzai is a nationalist. What that means is that he wants Pashto to be the official language of Pashtunkhwa, his main priority is the protection and development of Pashtun culture, heritage, etc. There is a group of Pashtuns that, for some reason, does not like nationalists. Now instead of arguing against the said objectives of the nationalists, they will divert the issue and say, "hey, this guy is an Indian agent". It's all over the forums and the reference also comes up during talk-show debates. It's disgusting.Originally posted by naziaWhat do you mean? can you explain Levanye."If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be".

This particular vindictive mentality is pretty common in Pashtuns in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa for the very obvious reasons. In my school, I was called 'da india agenta' because I was preaching Bacha Khan rather than Jinnah which looks like a herculean task when the 90+ class are the patriotic Pakistanis.
They will 'curse' you by calling 'nationalaye' which was an abusive term for them to vent out their frustration. This mentality is quite ubiquitous still, unfortunately.

Yaraa che weena maa kho kala kala khulae na kanzalae laar shii...domra kuzzaedalae pakhtaana maa duniya kae ham na dee ledalee. These were the same people who used to mock the Pashtunkhwa name and when it was granted they were dancing and celebrating. They used to mock others and cheer on the establishment and now all of sudden when they felt a little heat became Pashtuns. Unfortunately lewanae peera you are right. They didn't even want to grant the name so a unified province is something they will never give, no matter how supportive they lackeys will go against it (the likes of nighat orakzai and saifullah marwat, muqam, etc). The only possibility is that the militancy situation goes entirely out of hand and opens a clear front in Panjab...this will give Afghanistan and Pashtunkhwa more leeway and breathing space. Otherwise this pashtunkhwa thing is haram and anti-islam (or so they say).Originally posted by Yousafzai Pakhtun View PostBcoz these pakhtuns prefere to be called Pakistani than Pashtuns....they blame the nationlists for dividing the country,i.e the islamic atomic power, Pakistan....

Ye ANP unfortunately has turned into a party of khanism, weakness, corruption, etc. However they are angels compared to MMA. 8 years of MMA rule did more damage than even the worse corruption attempts by Hoti.Originally posted by Sher Khan View PostMoreover the autocratic corrupt provincial government of anp has always disappointed pashtuns.
@yousafzai, saiba this is how they have maligned Pashtuns. I remember one student told my history/pak studies teacher that for Pashtuns Pakistan has no place. I still remember she used the worse logic and so shallow to defend Pakistaniyath. Even then when I hardly knew anything about Pashtun history, politics (I still know very little) I was amazed at it. They have maligned us in the post 47 years and before that there is no mention of our personalities. What is worse that they have even sidelined a major portion of Faqir i ipi's life.Last edited by BLS_1919v2.0; 07-05-2010, 04:34 AM.
