In my opinion, the fact that the study was done by sociologists says nothing about its credibility. Western methodology is unsuitable to conduct field studies among Pashtuns, in their native areas. Some qualitative data can be collected, but generalization of results to a wider population will always be biased. Obtained results could be applied to very narrow context and area. I think that there is not such methodology which can deal with the specifity of Pashtun tribalism. There are no methods which could adjust processed data for tribalism.
Also, sociologists, because of lack of extended training in Afghanology or '"Pashtunology" are not able to refer to the results. Stricte etnographic knowledge is also insufficient.
In other words, reports from such studies will be always unadequate.
