TTP condemns Grossman’s statement about Durand Line

ISLAMABAD - The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) central spokesman Ihsanullah Ihsan has strongly condemned the statement of US special envoy for Pakistan and Afghanistan Marc Grossman that the Durand Line was an internationally recognized border between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

In an email message to INP, Ihsan said that Grossman’s statement regarding the Durand Line, the 2,640 kilometer long border between Afghanistan and Pakistan, is an obvious move to inflame differences among the people living on both sides of the border.
“TTP considers the statement of Grossman a conspiracy against the Muslims and also interference of the foreigners in the internal affairs of the Muslims,” Ihsan added.
The TTP spokesman said the outfit will continue fight against conspiracies.
Durand Line draws its name from Mortimer Durand, the Foreign Secretary of British India, who demarcated the 2,640-kilometre-long and porous borders between Pakistan and Afghanistan following a treaty with Afghanistan’s Amir Abdur Rehman Khan in 1893.
Grossman ignited a controversy when he told an Afghan private television channel that “our policy is that the border is the international border”.
On 26th Oct, Pakistan also jumped into a war of words between Afghanistan and the United States over the legitimacy of Durand Line as an international border, saying it was a “settled issue”.
“As far as the official response of the government of Pakistan is concerned, the Durand Line is a closed and settled issue. We regard it as the recognized international border, and the international community also recognizes it so,” Foreign Office Spokesman Moazzam Khan said at the weekly media briefing.
US reaffirms international status of Durand Line. On 24th Oct, The United States said that Durand Line is the internationally recognized boundary between Pakistan and Afghanistan, as Washington stood by special envoy Ambassador Marc Grossman’s statement reaffirming its position on the border.
“Our policy on this has not changed. It was correctly stated by Ambassador Grossman that we see this as the internationally recognized boundary,” State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland said.

Taliban even in 1996 did NOT recognize the Durrand line. Pakistan pressed them, but they said no. It's one of those things that makes those who think they were nothing but Pakistani stooges scratch their heads. Yes they were supported by Pakistan, but somehow, someway, when it came to Durrand line, they did not compromise.

Mostafa, it seems to me as if NDS is making Pakistan bleed by supporting TTP, and arming them. It's essentially trying to show Pakistan that we will offer a tit by tat if need be. If you pay close attention to the media Mostafa Jaana, 10 dead in Kandahar, and the next day 20 dead in Karachi. Taliban claims responsibility for Kandahar, while TTP for Karachi. Obviously, they should both drop the support for instability elements, and live side by side like Holland and Germany, but look who is talking . . .
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

        Admin Khana,

I don´t know if that theory really works out.
Remember the Jordanian doctor who was brought by the Jordanian intelligence to Pakistan to infiltrate Taliban and Al Qaida and ended up blowing up 12 CIA operatives including the station chief of the CIA in Afghanistan?

He had recorded his farewell video sitting next to Hakimullah Mehsud, the leader of the TTP.

If NDS had any links to TTP, I think there would be an all-out war on them by the Haqqanis and all other Taliban groups.

But in this world of spying, double and sometimes triple agents, what do we know?

It just frustrates me that whatever happens, Afghans/Pashtuns are on the losing side.

The haqqanis and certain groups of the TTP do fight each other. The Haqqanis are asking the TTP to concentrate only on Afghan and NATO forces while the TTP is saying that Pakistan is supplying the guns to NATO and afghan forces. The afghan government and NATO is silent on sanctuaries that the TTP uses in Afghanistan while the Pakistani government is silent on sanctuary that the Haqqanis use in Pakistan.

There was a Peace deal brokered by Haqqani between the Shia Turi tribe and the TTP which freed territory that could be used by Haqqani to send supplies and stage attacks in places like khost, paktia, paktika region. They are all over that place right now.

I think answers to many of these questions can be found if we examine the scenario from broader parameters ...while

Think Pakistan doesn't want to recognize the Durrand Line, but at the same time Pakistan wants to dictate Afghanistan's policies and abolish its sovereignty ......

No Sovereignty= No Durand Line ; it's not that Pakistan doesn't want to abolish the Durand Line; it doesn't want to do so in a scenario where they have lesser regional control.

There in lies your answer; don't let Taliban propagandists liet like UnknownPrince decide the parameters of the narrative for you, use logic.

Yes, the situation is complicated. Parachinar has been blockaded by fighting for more 4 years. It was very difficult to move supplies and people to and from the city until recently when the Thal-Parachinar highway opened after the truce. The Turi tribe is supported by the Pak military against the TTP and they were pressured by the pak military to accept the truce while Haqqani convinced the TTP to also accept the truce to free parachinar from the blockade and at the same time give Haqqani an alternative safe haven as well as access routes into the loya paktya region. The theory is that if the PAk military starts operations in North Waziristan, they would have an alternative safe haven in Kurrum but they need the cooperation of the Turis to do so. It looks as though the Turis have agreed to it as long as the city of Parachinar is not blockaded.

The Kochis are now on the other side of the Durand. The NDS have interests to have the Turi/TTP war start again because the truce has increased violence on thier side of the border. Not too long ago their were some Sunnis killed including children in Kurrum and the Turi were blamed but some theorize that the NDS was behind it to ignite another feud.

The TTP/Pakistani insurgency exists primarily due to Pakistan 1) supporting the US/NATO war and by token the Karzai regime (with supply routes) and 2) due to Musharraf sending the Pakistan army in 2004 to start a war in Waziristan against primarily FATA Pashtun tribes who had started supporting the Afghan insurgency being waged against a foreign military presence and what they term Karzai regime installed and supported by US/NATO.

It is logical to conclude that just as Pakistan supports the NATO war, so then the Taliban supports the TTP to wage a war against Pakistan, thus, increasing the cost for Pakistan of participating and supporting the NATO war/Karzai regime.

No where does the Karzai regime along with the NDS benefit from 'supporting' the TTP since the TTP is active not only in Pakistan, but Afghanistan too. This is also the reason, Pakistan and the US have been cooperating with each other against the TTP.

However, the US/NATO wants Pakistan to take action against the Afghan Taliban which they say is using FATA as a safe haven, and that this is the reason the US/NATO war has failed. US pays Pakistan a billion dollars a year for Pakistan to support the war.

Pakistan under Musharraf did take action at the request of the US/NATO, and as a result, the TTP-led Pakistani insurgency resulted. So US/NATO as well as the Karzai regime are asking Pakistan again to start another war, and make a new enemy. Pakistan was defeated in Waziristan (losing over 7000 soldiers), and ended up signing what amounts to non-agression/peace pacts to end it.

Pakistan gives NATO supplies to the US/NATO for billions of dollars payment- Pakistan serves as a mercenary state. Pakistan made the NATO war possible. There is no other alternative explanation in explaining the mess Pakistan has put itself and Afghanistan in. Pashtuns are primarily suffering, and the problem is Western intervention which is made possible by Pakistan. There frankly is no other explanation. Pashtuns are opposed to foreign occupation, and always will be, and this is the sole reason that the US/NATO war has failed, and as people say have been defeated.

The region is opposed to foreign interference. The bullets that US/NATO as well as NDS operatives use come via Pakistan supply routes, not from Tehran or New Dehli or the moon, and this is the reason why Pakistan faces a Pakistani insurgency, not due to some alleged non-existent NDS support.

Pakistan may eventually collapse, but it will not be for the reasons you are citing, but for the exact opposite- supporting Western intervention.

UnknownPrince why do you repeat the same argument over an over again, do you thiink we don't know your spin doctoring of things?

We know what the TTP say we also know what they do, what they do is grossly inconsistent with what they say. We don't need you to paint for us how we're supposed to see things. All of us have eyes and we're not going to look at things from your goggles.

Pakistan supports the NATO war, DUh, but Pakistan is also after their own Geopolitical stakes in the region Pakistan's relationship with NATO is based on a double dual agenda. Keep NATO happy, keep AID money coming, but having their proxies and influence so they remain the central figure in the region.

BY LOGIC it is marketable for Pakistan to supply and motivate the Taliban; it acts as a source of income for Pakistan. And this isn't a conspiracy theory, It's true and backed up by billions of dollars in AID. It's also true that the ISI manipulates gullible Pashtuns into being their stooges; using various forms of cultural intimidation and emotional blackmail tactics. Things like BUT just limited to the notion that Pashtuns must die to restore the honor of Islam against the infidels. These are taught from ISI hotbeds like Dar Al Uloom Al-Haqqania, and various other brainwashing/indoctrination means. It is true that Deaths of relatives is a contributing factor, undeniable, but more Pashtuns are killed by Taliban suicide attacks than foreign intruders, so that cannot be a sole explanation, ISI's interception of such individuals, tutelage and ultimately indoctrination; that all other Pashtun/Afghan Muslims are collaborators and worthy of death. This has been confirmed by numerous sources, by the Taliban themselves. by people captured by the Taliban and released. The evidence is irrefutable.

The TTP-Scenarios is a peculiar one; the TTP kills Pashtun soldiers primarily who are rank and file cannon fodder; the death of Col Imam was their claim of being independent; but Col. Imam's death came when he made statements of that he would "expose" some information. We'll never know for sure what that information was but Col. Imam's ISI association and his link with the Taliban hints that there is something pertinent which can be revealed in that regards. We can only speculate; either way. The ISI remains UNHARMED and UNAFFECTED. Why is it that the TTP does not attack any ISI bases or headquarters but rather just concentrate their efforts on squabbles with rank/file personel who ultimately are replaceable. The answer The TTP's have not demonstrated any meaningful action against the establishment, therefore cannot be legitimately claimed to be against Pakistani Government, even if they claim to be. if they were they'd concentrate their efforts against the government apparatus itself.

                              Simple Logic

In Summary your r based on the evidence we can safely discern that yyour explanation is an attempt at Bogus rewriting of the Narrative to make the Taliban seem like a legitimate resistance in hopes of fooling the populous, what your motivations are are anyone's guess; Some have said you have family connections to the ISI, not sure how true those claims are. But you are a Pakistani National from Quetta, which no matter how many times you claim to be Afghan, is still considered Pakistan and people from there are Pakistani by Nationality. What you're doing is trying to legitimize ISI interests vis 'a vis The Taliban
