The proper word for gosfaand is wuze.

Thank you for the link, what you've written was quite informative and I'm quite tired of how the Hazaras and other minorities in Afghanistan try to play the 'innocent card' as you have stated. Neither side, of course, is innocent, and the media in the West is heavily trying to portray the minorities in Afghanistan as the victims, when in truth – most people in Afghanistan are victims regardless of their ethnicity, except for the wealthy and rich politicians.Originally posted by BarakzaiAbdali View PostMy friend,

Above in that essay I wrote how this cannot be a one sided discussion. The media depiction currently makes Pashtuns, even in the post Taliban era, even in the situation where we are economically embargoed, as the constant aggressor.
Mostafa is speaking on behalf of disenfranchized Kochiaan who actually still get heavy duty harassment from the Hazara.
The common refrain from the folks is that this is Pakistani propaganda to divide etc. If that were the case it would not be Afghan Hazaras giving these interviews and hiding Wahdat affiliations. Pakistan did not put the Hazaras up to that. In reality, there are real ethnic and land disputes. In reality, there are real religious links with outside groups (wahdat and Iran to even the same degree as folks accuse Talibano of links to deoband)
For instance, due to the best-selling book The Kite Runner, more light has been put on the Hazara cause (whatever that is?) than ever before. In Khaled Hosseini's book, Assef (a Pashtun boy) is blonde haired and blue eyed, has a German mother (seriously? It's so blatantly obvious that Hosseini is trying to show that Pashtuns are the Nazis of Afghanistan) and not only beats the Hazara boy up, but rapes him too (honestly?).
Khaled Hosseini is a Shia Afghan who has grown up in Iran, and his book (adored by many people in the west) has been the first book that has really introduced Pashtuns to the west. When I tell someone I'm Pashtun, more often than not they say something along the lines of, "Oh, I've read the Kite Runner, and how can you guys treat Hazaras like that?" In short, Hazara/Shia Afghan intellectuals are doing a very good job at painting Pashtuns as the perpetuators and cause of everything wrong in Afghanistan to the west.
I'm so tired of this, honestly. They're acting like Israelis who constantly play up the holocaust card. Of course, my heart goes out to all hazaras who have been harassed or discriminated, and I'm not an ethno-fascist in any way, but I'm tired of Hazaras over-exaggerating what has actually occurred to them, and then blaming their troubles on innocent Pashtun citizens (such as the Kochis). They've done a good job of equating Pashtuns to Taliban – what more do they want from us – do they want all of Afghanistan? I've heard many Hazaras say that only Kandahar is for 'Afghana' and that everything else is Khorasan and isn't rightfully ours. Seriously?
Anyway, I think I'm going off-topic. Thanks for the link though!Last edited by pashtanajan; 11-06-2012, 01:39 AM.True wisdom comes to each of us when we realize how little we understand about life, ourselves, and the world around us. - Socrates
