Canadian embassy denies visa to Afghan opposition leaders
    by Javed Hamim KakaronNov 2, 2012 - 15:15
KABUL (PAN): The Canadian embassy in Kabul refused visa to two Afghan politicians and they were asked to apply at their mission in Islamabad, Pakistan.[]

Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, former foreign minister and Amrullah Saleh, ex-chief of National Directorate of Security and former interior minister Hanif Atmar, were invited to attend a conference in Ottawa on 26th October, 2012.

Embassy officials in Kabul had advised Abdullah and Saleh to obtain their visas from the Canadian embassy in Pakistan, but the leaders refused to do so,” said an official, who did not want to be named.

"Embassy in Kabul said they cannot do anything and the only way was for them to apply in Islamabad," the official had told the conference organisers.

"Going to Islamabad is like committing suicide," said Saleh. [

The one-day conference would have given the senior leaders an opportunity to speak on Afghan’s future, especially after NATO’s pullout in 2014.

“About two months ago Abdullah and Atmar were also invited to speak at a conference but Abdullah could not go due to work commitments,” said the spokesman for Change and Hope coalition, Fazal Rahman Orya.

Canadian embassy in Kabul had also refused visa to former first vice president Ahmad Zai Masoud some years ago.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Hey Azmal where are you? An article about your hermaphroditic father-mother being Saleh was posted. Usually you surface pretty quick.

Can somebody educate me on Hanif Atmar real quick? What's the deal with him? I heard he is a Pashtun who generally looked out for Afghan strategic interests. I don't know much about him, so I'd rather not comment on him until someone can shed some light.

              Admin

I had lunch many a times in New Haven with his representative Waiand who was one of his staffers. The man is an opportunist and a former Najib acolyte. The information below, is not so far off, and not ISI generated.

                Best,
Basically Atmar served under Najib in Khad and was responsible for the disappearing of many innocent people. When I confronted the staffer about this his response was: "Look people had to do what they had to do back then and its time for you guys here to stop criticising and expatriots need to stay out of our business."

So in turn I said to him: "Dont you find it odd that Atmar was a die hard Khadist in the communist party but now you find him sending staffers to Yale in the Americas? Funny how life comes full circle."

Finally, the conversation ended with, "And about expatriots... wasnt atmar an expatriot in Britian, so ought he not to take your advice and stay out of Afghanistans internal affiars? After all we are for noninterventionalism"

I asked the same question since the official was a Pashtun and felt free in speaking to another pashtun.

Atmar and Saleh have issues with Karzai because their level of paranoia (the same paranoia [reasonable sometimes - extreme others] we see at times here when Pakistan is discussed) is such that they see him as succumbing to and serving Pakistan's interests. That is, in PF terms, they are calling Karzai a "Paki."

Atmar also has higher ambitions and was planning a presidential committee/run of sorts. So the pursuit of power may be a part of it.
The wall he runs into is folks like Gul Agha Sherzai and other southerners have some affinity for Karzai as opposed to Atmar.

Here is one article that supports what he was telling me:

"Whereas the sacking/resignation of the Minister of Interior, Hanif Atmar, surprised no one -- the president's criticism of Atmar was legendary in Kabul."

And many here Admin, will try to claim otherwise. They will chime in and claim that A) So what if I spoke to his dignitary - I live in the US etc etc and B) Everyone just fought under a label back then and people who were called communists were actually practicing Muslims. B-U-L-L-S-H-I-T.
Atmar was exactly as Najib, faithless, and a murderer.

Here is one old Afghan communist telling these naysayers here otherwise:

"One old communist official, Saleh Muhammad Zeary, whom Steele tracked down to a humble tower block near London’s Heathrow Airport, explained the resistance this way: “Peasants were happy at first, but when they heard we were communists, they changed. The whole world was against us. They said we don’t believe in Islam, and they weren’t wrong. They could see we didn’t pray. We liberated women from having to pay dowry, and they said we believed in free love.”

                    http://www.thenation.com/article/167...ce-afghanistan

And this is why its rather humurous when Lavanaay Zalmaay attempts to cover up such issues and hurls invective at the Islamists as if they were seeing delusions and illusions of insults to culture and religion. On the contrary, as this official, one of LZ's messengers from his god with a minor g, Lenin, notes, the peasants themselves saw reality and did not need Pakistan to show them this.

Bottom line Admin: Saleh (Azmal's hermaphroditic mother-father being) and Atmar, a Pashtun sadly enough, work hand in hand to ensure the Northern Alliance dominance of Kabul continues to the detriment of Pashtun interests.

                      From same article:

"One such technocrat is Muhammad Hanif Atmar. From 2002 to 2010 the highly respected Atmar held a succession of ministerial portfolios in the Karzai government, from rural development to education and finally the interior ministry. In his youth Atmar was a member of the KHAD Special Forces (like the KGB, the Afghan secret police had a military wing). He lost one of his legs defending Jalalabad against the mujahedeen siege. When the Najibullah government fell, he went to study in Britain. After the US invasion, he returned to Kabul and soon earned a reputation as a competent and honest manager, “someone the West could work with.” The National Directorate of Security, the successor agency to the KHAD, is today so heavily populated by the former Parcham cadre that many people simply call it the KHAD. Another of these ex-PDPA technocrats is Zahir Tanin. Currently Afghanistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations, in the 1980s he was on the PDPA’s central committee."

Rodric Braithwaite, Jonathan Steele and Artemy Kalinovsky analyze the forgotten history of Afghan communism and the Soviet occupation.

So I find it sardonic and humurous that idiots here are "proud" of their "Afghan" Army and "NDS" yet have no idea what the hell they are talking about when it comes to who the NDS is and what they have done to the Afghan people as the initiators of decades of murder.

It really is a shame when you have a Pashtun who is working against Pashtun interests, that saddens me the most.

With respect to NDS, don't you think they have some agents that have lost their lives in defending the borders and integrity of Afghanistan? The have nearly 40K agents right? Is it fair for us to judge the organization based on a few rotten apples in their upper echelons?

NDS, ISI, CIA - all bas-tards with their own invented narratives.
And remember, the argument against the Taliban's grass roots men like that commander Dauran, a commoner, is that he serves a "echelon" that is rotten. If that logic applie to the Taliban, then the Karzaists will have to justify why it does not apply to the men loyal to Kabul's installed regime and the NDS.

These are the same men that work with the murderer Abdul Razaq and imprison and torture their own people.

What would you say to the Khattak in Karrak who praises the ISI for defending Pakistan's territorial integrity? After all, it is the ISI that continues to be the thorn in Afghanistan's india centric policy. And the Indian War Journals catalogue such an approach - so he might feel validated in saying that. But we both know that the reality is more complicated and that poorly placed patriotism is lethal.

Also, if the NDS works against Karzai's goal of reconciliation; and Karzai's Pashtun supporters stated but unsubstantiated goal of Pashtun ascendency - then how do they reconcile the NDS being at odds and scuttling the boat of the Presidency's goals??

BA, what you have to realize is the CIA is a terrific institution for the USA, and the same goes for the ISI for Pakistan. These institutions assert their influence in the region. We might not like the ISI, CIA, Mossad but you have to realize nationals of those nations support these secretive groups. For example, the CIA in sense 'protects US interests' now any die-hard American would gracefully embrace this organization since it's a detergent.

ISI primary goal is to serve Pakistani interests, wouldn't you agree that they've done a tremendous job for their nation? Obviously these organizations are what you call them, they've tortured innocent people, killed people based on assumptions, but what is their end-goal?
