so how did the taliban ruling fit with pashtunwali, khushal? i get the impression that pashtuns are supposedly independent, don't like to be controlled by others, love music and dance. doesn't seem to fit with talbanisation to me. yet you appear to be very defensive on the talibans behalf.

Strawman; I never said anything about changing identity, just abandon ridiculously counter productive and stupid parts; namely Pashtunwali.
It's only "natural" that such failed systems will get tossed to the wayside
He is no different than us,he blindly believes in the words of other men,:
If pashtunwali was not an organized civil order, it would have been tossed aside thousands of years ago. Because it is, it still survives.Originally posted by RevolutionThroughReason View Postany system which applies organized civil order to carry out problem solving.

What has been done here? Why are they hiding? An organized civil order does not need to hide.

Well that's the thing about obsolescence, something may be appropriate "years ago" which after newer more practical knowledge arises no longer is useful.
that's why it's called Obsolete; apparently you have a hard time grasping the concept..
He is no different than us,he blindly believes in the words of other men,:
The Taliban actually were doing away with the more harsh parts of pashtunwali. They didint just say this part or that part is illegal like the afghan government does, they actually did something about it that was successful. For example when a murder was committed, before a "badi"(a dispute between families over murder which usually is a tit for tat murder back and forth) would start between families, they would themsleves take care of the murderer and prevent the badi in the families. This also prevented "swara"(the giving of a female for the compensation of the murder).Originally posted by faye View Postso how did the taliban ruling fit with pashtunwali, khushal? i get the impression that pashtuns are supposedly independent, don't like to be controlled by others, love music and dance. doesn't seem to fit with talbanisation to me. yet you appear to be very defensive on the talibans behalf.
Instead of challenging the peoples culture head on, they would work within the culure. Mind you I am talking about the Taliban of the 90's. The Taliban of today has everyone(drug dealers, kidnapping gangs, extortion gangs) flying their flag and has no central leadership that can control anything.
This is not in defence of the Taliban. Its not for me or you or Obama to decide what is best for the Afghans, it is for the indegenous afghans that live there and their children grow up there to decide for themsleves what is best for them. If the afghans want the Taliban, it is their choice, and if the Afghans dont want the Taliban, then they have to put up the fight and take them out and beleive me the afghans arent afraid of a fight. The Taliban are afghan and if the afghans see them as a problem then it is an afghan problem and if the afghans see them as a solution than it is an afghan solution.
How would you like it Faye for the chinese to come to australia and tell you what is best for you. you would give them the middle finger.

But in this logic the world should undergo Revolution every 5 years, revultion in the direct sense. Abolishing everything from before - bacause the time changes and no system is adapted to that, also can no way of living generally function if people missuse it, that is a quiet spread issue.Originally posted by RevolutionThroughReason View PostWell that's the thing about obsolescence, something may be appropriate "years ago" which after newer more practical knowledge arises no longer is useful.
