Jodigul, i really want to see where you are gettting this from. Please show proof of what you are saying. Kunar is more than majority of Pashtuns, if this name 'Kunar' is offensive, it would have been dealt with. But I can tell you that is not the case.

Proof for what? Proof are not demanded in such type of thing. and remember we are not in court.
Knowing pashto is enough for it.

^^ So how did you come up with this all of a sudden. Kunar is more than 90% Pashtuns. Okay so it would have been changed....the way you take in concept, such as the meaning, can be different than the way it is.....If the name was taken in offense, it would have been changed. Period.

Okay have you talked to a Kunaryan about this??? to see what they think....i will ask my relatives and let you know. I can tell you right now, if that is the case, Kunaryans are smart enough to have it renamed. But since its not, it may not be as offensive as you make it to be.....sure the meaning of the word may be there, but its not the concept of it.

Well his post consist of two parts
                      a) first part consist of an explanation of kunar name controversy
                      b) 2nd part of his post was reminding me to mind my own business, which was rude.
so i was puzzled that u thanked him for which part of post.
                      But thanks for clearification

There is no controversy jodigul, you are just making up imaginary theories. Never in my life have I heard this..and our dialect (my mother side is dirojee) is very close to kunarr, if not practically the same. So where you got this is beyond me. Admin please close this thread.

Yeah you are right, Kunar is a wrong word! Let's change it to SEFP; South East Frontier Province.

PS; Kunar used to be a river or something in that area and I still don't get it how it's an insult?

I think it sounds like kuna, thats why jodigul wants to change it.
but its Kunar, I think its fine.

                                Let a kunarai speak!

First of all I read that jodigul says that کونړ is pronounced also like kunarrrr, Thats true, but Pashtuns pronounce it کونړ. Non pashto speakers have difficulty with it because of the last letter

kona, kuni = کونړ ? Is that same sound? Not if you speak properly pashto.

Read this if you are curies about the name kunar:
