My 8 year old nephew asked me today that why India is ignoring its poor neighbours like Nepal, Bhutan or srilanka but is giving special attention to Afghanistan?

Why India is interested in Afghanistan?

Why do you mind? India has played a commendable role in Afghanistan since 2001. It's influence in Afghanistan is based on it's contribution in the development, security and stability of Afghanistan, not on suicide bombers and terrorists.Originally posted by Luffy View PostIndia is ignoring its poor neighbours like Nepal, Bhutan or srilanka but is giving special attention to Afghanistan?

Spoghmai you are wrong,
India is the largest REGIONAL donor to Afghanistan.
India donates more to Afghanistan compared to Pakistan.
India is building schools. Even the Afghan parliament is being built by the Indians.
Luffy,
it's because India wants a strong Afghanistan as it's ally. Imagine Afghanistan on Indias side. Pakistan will be a useless power. Cause India will be able to attack them from two fronts.

If your trying to suggest that India is helping Afghanistan only to destabilize Pakistan or something like that, let me tell you the Indo-Afghan relation have been very strong since centuries and that was long before Pakistan came into existence.Originally posted by Luffy View PostMy 8 year old nephew asked me today that why India is ignoring its poor neighbours like Nepal, Bhutan or srilanka but is giving special attention to Afghanistan?
There were many Afghan who came in search of a livelihood and later settled here and even now a lot of them come here to study. In my college we have more than a dozen Afghan students, students who are here on scholarships and also the self financed ones. What I mean to say is Indo-Afghan were strong since time immemorial and the same is being continued.
And let me also tell you the Hindus have a lot of respect for Pashtuns, they say trust a Pathan and he will never let you down.

I think India is interested in Afghanistan because of 2500 km long durand line that it shares with Pakistan. To put pressure on Pakistan, india is making strong friendship with Afghanistan. In reply to Pakistani involvement in Kashmir insurgency, india is using Afghanistan's soil to create insurgencies in Pakistan. It is evident to every one that Baloch rebels are assisted by india and chances are high that india is also involved in Terrorist activities in Pakhtunkhwa.
India contribution in development of Afghanistan is highly appreciated but the motives behind these helps are not innocent, india is using soils of Afghans for covert operations.

India is country of Hazrat Gaandhi Rehmat Ullah Alieh (Godfather of Afghanistanis). India is greatest islamic country after Afghanistan on world's map. Both work to break non-islamic countries, such as Pakistan!Originally posted by Luffy View PostMy 8 year old nephew asked me today that why India is ignoring its poor neighbours like Nepal, Bhutan or srilanka but is giving special attention to Afghanistan?

Luffy India has its own strategic interests like Pakistan, the difference is that India doesn't send bombers and talibs to Afghanistan (and for that matter didn't prop them up in Pashtunkhwa). Talibs were initially used as a proxy against India, so it would sense for India to neutralize them. You have to remember that India is no longer in league with Pakistan, its real regional competition is China. If people are saying India is supporting baloch well this is how the cookie crumbles. Pakistan supported khalistani sikhs, kashmiri insurgents in India and the mujahideen in Afghanistan. You can't negatively influence other countries and not expect the same to be returned.
In terms of Nepal or Bhutan, well they have zero strategic importance (if very little). Why does US care about the middle east and not some other african country? Well clearly one has more strategic importance over the other.

Originally posted by AlokozaiVery well said, Afghans have even ruled India but yet Indians still respect them. Sher Shah Suri was Afghan and Ahmad Shah Abdali was Afghan. I know Abdali also ruled modern Pakistan but as you can see Indians still respect him. They even have monuments set up for famous Afghan rulers, Pakistan simply has weapons named after Afghans.
Thelostone,
what does the common Indian think of an Indian? An elaborate response would be appreciated sister.
The Afghan rulers who came to India dint just invade and loot. Unlike the British, Afghans came here, ruled, worked for the development of their kingdoms (read Indian territories) also they mingled with the local population and became one of them. Pashtuns also had a prominent role to play in the Indian Independence. All this, I believe is the reason why they are respected here.
And as far as the second part of your post is concerned, I would want you to elaborate the question so that I can give you a proper answer.
