Pashtuns are Afghan. Everyone not seeing themselves as afghan are pakis/dhalkhors/punjabis/slaves of the british. Pashtuns in kp are Afghan and those ones thinking they belong to a colonial 60 year long fake country are not afghan. Thats my opninion.

Its fun to see numerous "varieties" of afghans/pashtuns steming from west.

This is by far the best comment I have witnessed on Pashtunforums. I heard Son of mountains talking well of you and i didn't know why but now i know. You do not seek to deny the reality and for that i am grateful. You are the first one to admit that some form of bias actually does exist against the Pakistani Pashtun.Originally posted by Luffy View PostBrother we cant blame afghans for their behaviour towards you , me and other pakistani pashtuns...a pakistani would be severely disappointed and angry at those kashmiri muslims who do not want to join pakistan. So imagine the anger of afghans who not only share religion with you but also langauge, culture, history, every thing. I dont blame admin khan and others for their anger and frustration when they see patriotic pakistani pashtuns choosing punjabis, sindhis etc over them. 60 years have passed and they have waited enough.
I have nothing in common with punjabis, if islam is the cause for living with them, then afghans are better muslims than desis. But as afghans always disappoint me , so my wishes are for pashtun unity and autonomy within pakistan. Believe me i am not a jerk, i respect those pashtuns who are patriotic pakistanis and i respect lalak jan shaheed and karnal sher khan. I am a law abiding and loyal citizen of pakistan. But if my people raised rebellion against pakistan i would go along with my people, not punjabis and other pakistanis.
You are right and sometimes i feel sorry for the Afghan. Its also hard for the Pakistani Pashtun not to be harsh on the Afghan. To us its as if a flood is coming and someone is standing in between trying to blow up the dam which will cause our villages to flood. It has nothing to do with him, its our villages which will flood but hes sitting away from it all and enjoys it...
I also wish for Pashtun unity and autonomy though in a limited sense... for the Pashtuns in Pakhtunkhwa. In this you are not alone. I also wish for the abolishment of the FCR in the tribal areas which I have campaigned for in the past. My organization has built schools in areas of Pakistan including Pakhtunkhwa. You can read my profile at linkdin. It shows all the projects i have undertaken in the past.
As far as rebellion is concerned there shouldn't be any reason for Pakistani Pashtuns to rebel and hopefully there never will be. Though I believe today's liberal Pakistanis do not care what Kashmiris think and know that Kashmir will remain the same 2/5 with Pak, 3/5 with India. Afghans need to accept that too.
Instead of trying to make sure our people are not loyal to their land if they tried to ensure Pakistani Pashtuns loved their country and worked to dominate every field in it from science, education, business to military we would love the Afghan too. Pakistani Pashtuns would flood the world with love for the Afghan if they did this.Last edited by haviZsultan; 05-23-2012, 03:19 PM.I am the author of Badal, an upcoming fiction novel on the War on Terror. it's not just about being a punjabi or a pashtun. most people these days don't feel like that about each other. back in afghanistan, when i was younger, nobody made fun of a different ethnicity. maybe it is part of the package of living in the west. people who live in less privileged conditions are far more humble.

Manana. Not only afghans but also their associate pashtuns from pakhtunkhwa raised in the west. Interacting with afghans and their associates on internet ,with few exeptions, is always painful and irritating experience for me. Forexample I am talking here less and less in pashto as they might dig out a word from your sentence and would say to you that look its urdu word , your pashto is impure....and they dont feel a little shame in calling us dhaalkhor and slaves of punjab and hera mundi. Its in pashtun nature that "cha na teeta na khwri" means they dont consider themeselves inferior to some one. So they should understand that its not wise to insult a pakistani pashtun in such way. Forexample shehbaz khan is a pro-pakistani pashtun of very gentleman behaviour, yet he is sort of an enemy for members here and frequently is target of their wraths.Originally posted by haviZsultan View PostThis is by far the best comment I have witnessed on Pashtunforums. You are also a pashtun in american so it might offend you but listen. 99% of members here are living in foriegn countries especially west. They have no exposure to pashtun enviroment and live in societies where things are divided along racial lines. They dont hate punjabis because they have did some thing wrong to them, but hate them because punjabis are dark skinned indic people....have you noticed that they use "paki" and "dhaalkhor" for pakistanis, which are racist terms. And they develop the habit of racist terms in the westren enviroment. They are copy cat racists, copying their white neighbours and trying to be like whites unintentionally. Moreover their source of information on pashtun society is internet. They learn things from internet but actually have not observed and experienced it. Forexample they might have learnt the meaning of "nanawatay" but would'nt have observed it. They are contineously exposed to non-pashtun , non-muslim enviroment and in the first phase of identity crisis they desparately try to maintain their pashtun values and identity and for that they adopt extreme ethno-centric appoach and thinking to abnormal level....but their connection with ground realities of Pakistan and afghanistan is not there, which is always cause of unpleasant arguements on this forum. So i would be careful in making claim that afghan mothers teach their kids to hate lar pashtuns.
the only forum where pashtuns actually living in KP were outnumbering expatriates , was khyberwatch.

Hahaha, I don't speak Pashto either because its so weak they will pick something out of it. But you have beautifully described the mindset of the average e-afghan. Yeah i disliked the way Shahbaz Khan was treated.
I would just like to be known as a Pakistani who is dedicated to the Pashtun cause. My friend, why are you SO upset with Punjabi Muslims?Originally posted by Luffy View PostThings are not simple like that. Urdu speaking mohajirs are straight forward enemies of pashtuns. But pashtun-punjabi interactions are complex.
1- They are scared of pashtuns, its not that ordinary punjabis are aware of historical achievements of pashtuns, they are scared of the stereotypical pashtun. A kashmiri student told me that he was the first to take admission in islamia college peshawer, at the time of admission his family members were scared and concerned that he is going to peshawer, as pathans are very scary and dangerous people. I was travelling from bannu to lakki in coach and a punjabi was sitting on side me, he was saying that he was scared to death when he was transferred to bannu, but pathans are opposite they are great and nice people. I asked him that was it because of talibans? He said not particularly to talibans, in general i was scared of travelling in pashtun areas. It is stated that in subcontinent mothers used to scare their kids to sleep but telling them that otherwise pathan would come.
Punjabis are peasants and in their own hometown a pashtun can bully them. Sikhs are different and they butchered more than million punjabi muslims like sheeps. Pashtuns and sikhs, both have ruled and bullied punjabi muslims, and punjabi muslims have retialeted by inventing pathan and sikh jokes and laugh behind their backs. Punjab policemen can easily enter into house of a punjabi peasant, rape one of their woman and no one can do a thing about it.
2- They have skin colour and beauty complex: this is problem with all desis and punjabis are desis. They envy beauty and skin colour, eye colour of pashtuns and would compliment you right infront of your face. The reasons are historical, as all of their rulers, turks, afghans, mughals, british etc were fair people. In punjab, A fair skinned punjabi means that he is from good caste and family background.
3- When you cross indus , the culture of people across indus abruptly changes at 180 degree. Language, culture, customs, traditions , ways of life, approach to islam, all are different. Its become like clash of cultures. Both point out the differences to each other.
4- Punjabis main achievement is to make their culture, music, langauge etc part of mainstraim pakistani culture...for a punjabi urdu is like mother tongue and urdu is national langauge of pakistan. On the other hand urdu is very difficult for a pashtun and he speaks it wrong and with strong accent which is source of fun for punjabis. Imagine if some one speak incorrect english in your UK,canada, U.S with weird accent. The problem is that due to gulabi urdu and pathan jokes pashtuns are assumed as slow-minded , low IQ people unless you prove them wrong. Another reason is that in punjab only those pashtuns show their pashtun-ness who are labourers, watchmen, drivers etc so in their minds a pashtun would be usually a watchmen or driver. And the high profile pashtun families of good economic status settled in islamabad, pindi, lahore etc are shy to express themeselves as pashtuns. So a pashtun doctor, engineer, professor, officer do make them surprised.
5- Compititors and rivals..those punjabis who are educated and well-informed see you as a tough compititor and try to pull your legs down. In CSS and ISSB exams, the second most successful candidates next to punjabis ,are pashtuns.
I think Pashtuns were doing quite well in Pakistan since 1947. Only recently things have become bad for Pashtuns due to various reasons - especially due to war and terror.
Maybe now there is too much competition and not enough resources and Pashtuns have suffered in such a situation (just like rural Sikhs in India Punjab). There needs to be better government in the whole region I think.

Once a Lar Pashtun accepts Pakistan in his heart and soul, we must all accept permanently a division of Pashtuns
You cannot play both games, on one hand accept this entity called Pakistan and on the other hand talk about all Pashtuns are one
The creation of Pakistan is a death blow to Afghanistan, and if Lar Pashtuns accept this state of Pakistan (which is their choice and right), then thats okay, but understand that from Afghan perspective brotherhood is finished

A Pakistani Pashtun is by all and every means a Pashtun. Our peoples Pashtun-ness has continually been doubted by the Afghan who follows the formula "proud and patriotic Pakistani=cannot be a patriotic Pashtun".
This theory is flawed. The very concept that a Pashtun is Afghan is flawed. If so why don't Afghans kick out the hazara tajik and uzbek but no... lets use that for scoring points and dividing Pakistani Pashtun from his country. But hey, we won't even meet the Pakistani Pashtuns after trying to lead them on a path of self destruction. We won't abandon our tajik, hazara and uzbek brothers but we want the Pashtuns to be involved in a bloody war with the other races in Pakistan.
Just look at the hypocrisy Arooj. I start laughing every time i think of it. Then i feel sorry for the Afghan and say its wrong to laugh at him... hes suffered so much with 30 years of war.
We have been called traitor's, dal-khors and what not. And why?
Just because we are south of the durrand line or call ourselves Pakistanis. Just because NORTHERN kings sold us to the British of their own accord and taxed our people into oblivion.
Also u have raised a very important point which the Afghan Pashtun continually denies. Pakistani Pashtuns have protected and safeguarded Pashtun culture and allowed it to thrive while the Afghan was in a state of war for 30 years. They should appreciate us. Instead they call Peshawari culture kaffir culture. When i said Peshawar was the heartland of Pashtuns last time on the site ask them how they treated me, labelling me Punjabi and what not.
Arts, craft, fashion, music, embroidery, Pashtun carpet industry... all has thrived in Peshawar. Peshawar is actually the lifeline of the Pashtun yet they call it Punjabized city and ignore it. What greater crime could they commit against the Pakistani Pashtun.Last edited by haviZsultan; 05-24-2012, 09:54 AM.I am the author of Badal, an upcoming fiction novel on the War on Terror. Peshawer was winter capital of afghanistan. It is considered as oldest city of pakistan, it was centre of gandhara civilization. Its 90% population is pashtun. It derives its culture, heritage and history both from central asia and south asia. It is the most clean city of pakistan, after islamabad. It is also very important city to Afghans, majority of afghans that i come across internet whether he/she is tajik or pashtun, have spent few years in peshawer...after which they went to foriegner countries. Many have very sweet memories of the city. It is after After russian invasion, war in afghanistan, that peshawer has become become major pashtun centre. As it is an urban centre so one should'nt expect 100% traditional pashtun enviroment of villages. Still it is very traditional unlike kabul or other cities of pakistan.
Kabul is also important city but has dari enviroment.
Qandahar is pashtun city like peshawer, but it is very small city, as large as DI khan and abbotabad. It is easier for small cities to retain pashtun colour than for very large cities.
So i agree with sultan, due to instable afghanistan, peshawer is curruntly cultural centre of pashtuns.

Bar pashtuns are also in fix. Tajiks, hazaras and other minorities want to live with bar pashtuns in harmony in same country but they are opposed to any kind of reunification with lar pashtuns of pakistan. Infact they insist that term "afghan" should only mean nationals of afghanistan not those pashtuns of pakhtunkhwa of pakistani nationality. So bar pashtuns are also in confusion whether to choose fellow countrymen or their ethnic bros of pakistan.
