  • What if there is a UNION between Afghanistan & Pakistan

Let me ask it again, what if there is a union between Afghanistan & Pakistan. Like every other option, it has its pros and cons.

A very limited and short list of cons for the other 3 options.

    Code:
    Loy Afghanistan
    - We will only get Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA + Pashtun parts of Balochistan
    - We will lose a huge chunk of our population to Punjab & Sindh
    - Since Balochistan will not join a Loy Afghanistan, we will remain a landlocked country.

    Loy Pakhtunkhwa
    - Again we will lose a huge chunk of our population to Punjab & Sindh + Northern Afghanistan.
    - We will remain a landlocked country.

    Remain as we are
    - Landlocked problem will remain
    - We are scattered every where

Let's list all the PROS & CONS of a union and remain civil and mature while posting in this thread.

  • #2
    - All Pashtuns will unite under a single state.
    - Punjabis will not longer be a majority.
    - Afghanistan will have free access to the sea as well.
    - It (Afghanistan will benefit the most) will be a little bigger and stronger to compete stand against future foreign threats (Iran, Turkey, India, China, Russia etc.)
    - It will bring an end to the Afg-Pak tensions, which is the main reason why Pashtuns of both side are burning in hell.

These are some of the PROS and others are welcome to add more to the list and for those who have some CONS, they should list them as well.

Pakistan is Afghanistans number 1 enemy, with a staggering 55% approval rate of osama binladen, no thanks. Only KP, baluchistan and fata will join Afghanistan. And yeah, we Afghans own baluchistan, since we lend it to the british for 100 years, that are over now. Never joining punjabis in my life, even if I have to die for it.

You guys have to keep in mind that Pashtuns make up more than 15% of Pakistan's population. Pakistan conducts linguistic, not ethnic census and a huge chunk of our Pashtuns speak Hindko, Urdu, Punjabi, Siraki and other languages.

I even posted an article about this issue in this forum I believe. I will see if I can find that article.

          Peaceful Unification

Dear brothers this idea is not a new one during the times of President Liaqut Ali khan who was a pakhtun wanted a unification of both countries and he had almost reached the governing formula but was assassinated.

No, the problems would not be solved, you peopel think to simpel, Afghan and Pakistan Pashtun combine still would be not the majority if we join Pakistan. And by the way look how Pashtuns live in Pakistan there living is not that better, if Afghanistan didn't had a war our standart if living would be much better than what Pakistan have to offer. If Pakistan Pashtuns want to join Afghanistan I don't mind but other way around I am against it becuase we will still be the minority and Punjabis are not that nice to live in one country....

I think Pashtuns of Pakistan are making good progress and will never like to join a land-locked Afghanistan and live under Persian/Tajik cultural and (now) military domination. Unification under regional integration is, however, another matter, which they may look at favorably. Presently, they are spreading fast from Islamabad all the way to Karachi securing themselves access to sea-ports.

But that would be a country dominated by the punjabis because they will represent the majority of the population

India currently is being dominated by Hindu majority of UP and other Hindi-speaking provinces which Sikhs and followers of other religions and rest of ethnic and linguistic groups resent. I think with the passage of 18th amendment, Pakistan is now a more decentralized and devolved state compared to the unitary and highly centralized Indian state (dominated by Hindi and Hindu culture and religion to the exclusion of other religions and ethnic groups).

But why the f are u talkin about india? We are talking about afg/pak in that thread !

I think that Khyber pakhtunkhwa should join afghanistan
But it's impossible, afghanistan is a poor country with a war, and it's landlocked
                        .

It is definitely not a new idea, it is one that we have always ignored. Like our friends here, if some body had mentioned anything about this a while ago, I would have been strongly against it. Pakistan (Punjabis) has screwed us so badly that we cannot even imagine associating ourself with them. However, nobody will let somebody take away half of their land (even if it was not theirs 60 years ago).

Again, it is not a new idea, but it would be the first time being discussed here. We have been through Loy Afghanistan, Loy Pakhtunkhwa and Afghanistan/Pakistan so many times. Why not discuss this option as well.

Not really, Pashtuns make up way more than 15% of Pakistan's population. Like I mentioned, Pakistan conducts linguistic census not ethnic. Imran Khan is a Pashtun, but he is not part of that 15% because he does not speak Pashto. It is very likely that we make up more than 30% of the population.

This thread is about a union between Pakistan & Afghanistan. Pakistan joining India has nothing to do here.

Just so that we are on the same playing field here. I assume you agree with me when I say that the Pakistan has been interfering in Afghanistan by supporting the US/NATO war and the Karzai regime (with supply lines) in Afghanistan. Agreed?

Also, the initial support Pakistan gave to Karzai, allowing him to hop on an American chopper from Islamabad to Kabul was highly inappropriate, and another example of interference in Afghanistan.

However, nobody will let somebody take away half of their land (even if it was not theirs 60 years ago).

The irony of the Durrand line is that it has come back to bite the British in the behind. WHile their objective was to weaken Pashtuns, that did not materialize in my opinion. The Durrand line is not recognized by most Pashtuns. Those "Afghans" who suddenly want it to be recognized now do so because it has prevented them from achieving their objectives which are against the fabric of the Pashtuns.

Without Pakistan support, the NATO war/Karzai regime does not last.
