It seems neither of the two posters above me know their head from their back end.
I think its more than time to look within. Ask ourselves why Pashtun areas. Just as for the Karachites and MQM people its time for them to ask why is there violence in their areas its also time for the Pashtun to look at his own faults.

I mean something must have caused the terrorism, death and destruction in these areas. There is no escape. Blaming the ISI, Pakistan, Iran, Saudi, occupation or the world will not improve the situation one bit.

I think its very hard for Pakistanis on this forum to tell the posters here that Pakistan is not an enemy, even if it has used Afghanistan. Please do not hate us.

Afghans and Pakistanis were supposed to be best friends.

Now don't get me wrong ....I think you respond to what I say and take the wrong message. I'm not saying Iran or Pakistan haven't had their role or used the situation to their advantage.
What I am saying is that we in our small mindedness and short sightedness because of being bogged down in a lot of ridiculous squabbles ....had given them the opportunity to do so.

Pakistan is it's own worst enemy; what sort of friendship can Pakistan ..as a state offer us when it can't even offer such to its own people?

Its you who dont really know anything since you have never been there and have no idea whats going on at the micro level. The things you talk about are social problems that afghans need to work out themselves. It will take generation for those things to be worked out.
Using strawman and red herrings dont work here.

Exactly what I have been saying too. Pakistan has wrongly been interfering in Afghanistan. Something I have stated and the Afghans of course are intolerant sometimes of others so they are intolerant of their own people too which is making it difficult for them to deal with foreign threats, US or if they view it as such, Pakistan and Iran.

I think you are a good poster. Of course you just sometimes feel the need to post according to local sentiment and judge Pakistanis too badly and insult the Punjabis every once in a while. It would be interesting discussing affairs with you in a more neutral atmosphere.

I dont insult Punjabis or any group of people in particular for that matter; I relay tendencies and behaviors I have observed, gathered from other and derive from a historical and anthropological trends. I do the same for Pashtun.

I observe analogs of this in the North American narrative. The Punjabis in respects to the Pashtuns are like the blacks of America; except they finally reached some degree of a political upper hand. The Pashtuns are the bigoted self absorbed white Supremacist; they have "glory days" they so heavily rely upon and they feel angst and jilted that they no longer possess their former glory and long to one day restore it. Hence all this Ethno-fascism going around. The Punjabi being aware of the Pashtuns historic glory or prestige and being aware of their own historic humiliations and historical inferiorities in respects to the Pashtuns are trying to cash in on this as much as they can;kicking the Pashtun while he's down through backhanded means (ISI strategems). The Pashtun is aggrieved because he thinks "It should be me kicking THEM down not the other way around" he feels dethroned by the fact the roles have reversed; because he was raised on stories of the "tam tor punjabay pa khpel chatal ki tsamli ....da pakhtano mrayo di" he can't reconcile how they were able to divest him. A SImilar power play is going on with the White supremacists of America and minority groups; particularly Blacks; the Whites resent there's a "negro" in office. of course it is much milder than what is happening in the Pakhtun vs. Punjabi dynamic.

There is no panjabi vs pashtun dynamic. This is why you see everything through distorted lenses by looking at everything through the american perspective, americas history, americas racist history is very dark. Panjabis dont have the animosity towards pashtuns like blacks have here towards whites. Pashtuns never enslaved them or sold them as slaves like it was institutionalized in America.

To pashtuns pakistan does not represent panjab, it represents Islam and that is why most are pro pakistani. Take away the Islam card and pashtun would leave in an instant. Back in the 70's pakistan successfully portrayed the zahir/daud regime as a secular anti islamic government and that is why hekmatyar gained a huge following and was posed a real threat to the secular government.
KP pashtuns and Afghanistans pashtun destroyed afghanistan, not panjabis. When the british left, they left behinf two countries on a path to destroy each other. PAkistani successfully used the Islam card while Zahir/daud failed to do so, they were allied with the soviets and the soviet influence pushed them towards secularism and socialism which put them on a path to detribalize the afghans. Ofcourse your going to see resistance from changing the way of life of these people.

Although BAFIA has reported that 34 percent of Afghan refugees in Iran are ethnic Pushtuns, 27 percent Tajiks, 19 percent Hazaras, and 20 percent Uzbeks, Baluchis, and other ethnic groups, these figures do not reflect the higher rate of repatriation among Pushtuns and the new influxes of Hazaras and other Afghan minorities.

Iran is as dangerous enemy as Pukistan, as Ahmad Shah Massod had said "Pakistan want to cut our arms but if Iranian could they will cut both our legs and arms.”

                    .
Hekmatyar and could not even dare to enter Afghanistan at time of Zahir/Daud, he tried once and was almost killed. It was only after CIA got involved and Soviet were trapped to enter Afghanistan. Those Faqir of Punjab could not believe their luck when American and Arab money start to flow. your guilty of Quote mining.
your own source also says the following.
Neither of these government figures could be independently confirmed, however. Iran has not granted outsiders access to its refugee registration systems and has provided little information on the legal status and rights of refugees and asylum seekers in the country.

why would the soviets invade if not their communist government in kabul be threatened? your narrative is false.

Actually it is laughable for you to think that. No Punjabis of any religion consider (or considered) themselves in that way with respect to Pashtuns. Say that to a bunch of Punjabis and you will be laughed at. I need not say more.

I understand your reaction, the tone of language I am using does sound disparaging and given the historical plight of blacks in America I do realize my statement sounds backhandedly condescending. What I mean by historical inferiority, I mean Punjabis, with the exception of Ranjit Singh have been debased by Pashtuns. This is not saying they are intrinsically inferior or superior or vice versa. That would simply be absurd and not demonstrated by evidence.

None the less with all due respect; I have read non-canonical Sikh Hagiographic literature from numerous sources. Each one has a special section on the heinous behavior of Afghans (Pashtuns) had inflicted upon the Punjabis. So I'm sorry if I had come off callous or even boastful of such things; I am not. My characterization of the prevailing Pashtun mentality as analogous to White Supremacists was to highlight that amongst Pashtuns there is an idea that pervades that is very similar to the ignorance of rednecks in America. None the less the literatuire available demonstrates there is a consciousness of resentment and bitterness that lingers amongst Punjabis, and Sikhs especially that relates to Pashtuns; this cannot be denied. They may not explicitly say it, but the implications staggeringly point to that direction.

I am Pashtun myself paternally speaking, my view was to critique the psychology of peoples of these regions. I

Of course that is your view. Its actually only the Afghan Pashtun who was raised on these stories. The Pakistani Pashtun is desperate to build unity in his land. Just like the smarter punjabi.

Of course some feudals have the mentality you described. There is racism against Pashtuns in Karachi and Lahore.
