How do I go about meeting the Taliban to interview them for my book?
I would like to travel to Pakistan/Afghanistan to speak to them to hear the real story behind Western medias skewed coverage of them.

asking people who have no idea is probably not a good place to start.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

why are you writing a book on Taliban if you don't even know where to find one who is willing to talk to you?? Then I suppose you would need a translator. So basically you sit at home and get all the credit just for typing it up while someone else is busting his behind off to get all the hard work done. Do we sound like idiots to you??

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

i wish you well in your journeys. but i have a feeling this may be the worst attempt in intel gathering history to implicate forum members here for taliban ties. i hope i am wrong.

            Jones,

regardless of your intention, if your writing a book, you may want to get in touch with other journalists who have done the same. Dont you think?

These are probably experts on "AfPak"- journalists such as Najibullah Quereshi, Peter Bergen, Rahimullah Yousafzai, Nick Roberston (CNN), Paul Refsdahl (did the CNN documentary), Hamid Mir, or Ahmad Rashid . Other notable journalists who have a focus on Afghanistan/Pakistan would be Joshua Foust, Matt Aikins, or Mujib Mashal. These journalists know a lot about whats happening in Afghanistan, and maybe a good resource for you.

My main interest in contrasting pashtun resistance wars from the 3 Anglo-Afghan wars, the Russian and american invasions, I have a certain admiration for the Pathans and how a few shepherds are able to defeat the mightiest powers of the day. It fascinates me how a few thousand herdsmen were able to defeat the British Empire, the Soviet Union and soon the Americans.
