KARACHI- Militants belonging to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Swat chapter January 5 killed Seed Ahmed Khan, Karachi West district president of Awami National Party (ANP), an ANP official told Central Asia Online .
Khan, who was from Manja village, Tehsil Kabal, Swat, was killed in an attack on his house in the Metroville area, Zaman Chagarzai, an ANP district spokesperson, said, adding that that one of the attackers was shot dead by a police guard assigned to Khan.
The killing of Khan caused tension in Pashtun-dominated areas of the city, as people took to the streets and blocked roads.
Saifullah, head of Nekpikhel peace jirga of Kabal Tehsil, confirmed Khan's death and said that the dead gun man was identified as Aminullah, a close aide to Maulana Fazlullah and a resident of the Totano Bandi area.
“We condemn Khan’s murder and will not allow such dark forces (Taliban) to destroy the peace of the valley,” he said.
In April, Central Asia Online reported that TTP Swat militants hiding in Karachi, were taking advantages of ongoing ethnic violence to kill their rivals in the city, and that most of those targeted and killed were anti-Tailban elders and pro-government political and social figures.
